Chapter 55

After ending the call Steven sent Elena the hotel name and his room number. Once again he reminded her by message that he would visit the shop if she didn’t come to meet him. Steven started pacing after sending her message. It was the most difficult hour of his life because he was certain his life would be changed after this meeting.

Exactly after an hour the door knocked and Steven immediately rushed to open it. Elena was standing with flared nostrils. Steven gestured for him to come inside. She walked in with stomping steps. The moment Steven shut the door Elena turned around and pointed a finger at him. “Don’t ever think that I am afraid of you.”

Steven squared his shoulders. “I have tons of other stuff to think.”

Elena kept pointing her finger at him. “And if you dare to threaten me again I will go to the police.”

Steven raised his brow. “Yeah, sure, you are more than welcome to go to the police, because soon I am going to sue you for taking my son away from me.”

Elena’s expression changed from furious to shocked. “Raven is my son.”

Steven took a deep breath. “Oh please, Elena, I am not going into this debate if he is my son or not because I know he is.”

Elena asked. “How can you be so sure about it?”

Steven lied to check her reaction. "Because I have given his DNA sample and received the reports, it would be a matter of a few minutes for me to prove that Raven is my son in court."

Elena took a few steps back and fell on a bed. Steven rushed to her if she was fine. Elena mumbled. “Water.. I need water.”

Steven immediately fetched her a glass of water. Elena gulped the whole glass in one go. “Listen, Steven, I have moved on and soon I am planning to introduce Raven to my boyfriend so…”

Steven didn’t let her complete. “So, you want me to walk away from my son which you have been hiding for five years.”

Elena snarled. “Stop calling him your son.”

Steven stood up. “Why because you intend to make Raven your boyfriend’s son?”

Elena whimpered. “Everything is going smoothly in your life and my life, why are you so focused on ruining everything?”

Steven’s tone changed from gentle to harsh. “I don’t care about anyone’s smooth life. I want to know why you betrayed me?”

Elena stood up and shouted. “If you are looking for answers so go to your Dad as he was the one who orchestrated everything.”

Steven was taken aback. “What are you talking about?”

Elena nodded with tears in her eyes. “Yeah, Steven go to him as he was the one who forced me to get out of your life. He paid me 10 million to take this decision.”

Steven was shocked and disappointed. “And you sold our love in 10 million.”

Elena pushed him in anger. “How could you even think about me like that?”

Steven shook his head. “Since tomorrow I can think anything about you.”

Elena clenched her jaw."Your Dad threatened to throw you out of his house if I didn't leave your life. Raven might have a miserable life, given that my parents were never financially stable enough to provide for us. He offered money as a solution, and I decided to prioritize our son's well-being.”

Steven shook his head and mumbled. “That's not possible Dad would never do this to me.”

Elena held his hand. “Think Steven why after telling your Dad I stopped talking to you? Because he wanted me to do that as he kept threatening me to ruin your life and our son. He was forcing me to take his money and flee the city.”

Steven asked. “But why did he do this to me, and why didn't you tell me anything about it?”

Elena sighed. “Do you think Steven that I was in a position to raise questions? And think how could I tell you that your Dad wants me to take your son away from you?”

Steven shrugged his shoulders. “First, I don’t believe you because my Dad would never betray me but still I would talk to him, and during this if you dare to hide I swear I will…”

Elena cut him off. "You're not believing me now. Consider if you would have believed me back then."Furthermore, you should know that my parents, unlike you or any of our friends, were never wealthy, so how could I open a shop and begin a new life? Just think.”

Steven opened his mouth but Elena stopped him. “Steven please I am telling you there is no point in dwelling in the past. I have sacrificed our love to give you and Raven a good life.”

Steven nodded and shouted. “By good life you mean I never get to see my son.”

Elena raised her hands like a give-in gesture. “I have nothing to clarify myself anymore except to show you from where I got 10 million dollars.”

Steven once again screamed. “You should have told me Elena rather than ghosting me.”

Elena asked. “Why are you doing this now I gave you a reason but I am not getting yours to ruin the peace of my life and Raven’s.”

Steven asked. “Don’t you think Raven deserves to have a father in his life or I deserve to have my son in my life?”

Elena shook her head. “I told you Steven I have moved on…”

Steven interrupted him. “I loved you Elena a lot and for the past five years I was miserable but since I met Cassie once again I started living with a smile on my face so I have nothing to do with your love life. My only concern is Raven.”

Elena asked. “How did you take Raven’s sample?”

Steven shook his head. “I lied.”

Elena walked past him. “Like father, like son, I always think of you as different from your manipulative dad, but today you have proved whose son you are.”
