Chapter 39
Cassie finally got the time to talk to Steven and Daniel together. She was juggling between her studies and Lit’s project with Peter and Job. Daniel and Steven were friends but it was their unspoken understanding regarding Cassie. She took them to the same cafe where she spoke to Ryker and Steven once.
Steven asked Daniel. “Do you know why she called us here?”
Daniel squared his shoulders. “I am as informed as you are.”
Cassie felt the difference in the situation because earlier Steven and Ryker were fighting and she had to play a mediator between them. But Daniel and Steven were sitting there as if they had known each other for a very long time. They were both worried about her. Cassie was trying to forget about Ryker, but he was still in her heart.
Cassie looked at both of them. "I'm sitting here right, you guys can ask me. She added "Anyway, I called you both because I got to know that people could conclude that I'm playing with you both or cheating on you both with each other. From now on, we should be more careful."
Steven asked. “What do you mean by YOU GOT TO KNOW?”
Cassie rolled her eyes. “Peter thought I was cheating on both of his friends. All thanks to you both, he was not talking to me but now everything is fine I told him about our situation.”
Steven didn’t process in a good way what Cassie told him. “Why the fuck you told him about me in this situation with you two?”
Daniel looked at him in shock. Cassie was also taken aback but she hurt more. “Are you ashamed of me being polyamorous?”
Steven squinted. “Where had this come from?”
Cassie clenched her jaw. “It had come from a question you asked me.”
Steven shook his head. “I just don’t want people to know about me being part of this.”
Cassie asked. “You want to hide this because you are ashamed of being in love with a girl who wants other guys as well.”
Steven opened his mouth but Cassie continued “I thought you needed time to make yourself ready to be with me but now I get it you want to hide as long as you want it.” Cassie stood up and held Daniel’s hand “I think you should quit Steven because I can’t be with someone ashamed of who I am.”
Daniel wanted to talk and sort things out but Cassie dragged him out of the cafe. He stopped her, “We could have sorted this out by sitting there and talking.”
Cassie had tears in her eyes. “There was nothing to talk about it. Didn’t you listen to what he said?”
Daniel sighed. “I know whatever he said was wrong and uncalled for but you shouldn’t have just walked out and dragged me with you.”
Cassie snarled. “If you want to go back you can go.”
Daniel held her close. “Cass, listen to me if you want to be in a relationship with anyone so try to listen opposite point of view as well. Your attitude won’t be helping to find you another guy.”
Cassie kept her hands on her waist. “You think what happened inside was my fault?”
Daniel raised his hands in the air. “Why on earth you are listening when I have no intention to say it?” Daniel looked at her “Cassie, try to take deep breaths for a few times, maybe you’ll understand better.”
Cassie took a deep breath. “I am fine now please continue.”
Daniel held her arms. “Cassandra Karen Reed, welcome to an adult relationship, and in this, you talk when things go south. Back in there, you should have asked Steven why he wanted to hide his relationship with you rather than walk out.”
Cassie made a pout of her lips and raised her shoulders and brows. Daniel synced his brows with her and asked. “Got it?”
Cassie wrapped her arms around him. “If I hadn’t you in my life I would have ended up alone.”
Daniel kissed her forehead. “We were meant to be together.”
Cassie was heading back to the cafe, Daniel pushed her back. “Where are you going now?”
Cassie told him. “To talk to Steven.”
Daniel sighed. “He left when you hugged me.”
Cassie asked. “You think I should go and find him in college.”
Daniel grinned and nodded.
Cassie blinked. “You are my favorite boyfriend.”
Daniel giggled. “Right now I am your only boyfriend.”
Today she took a gap studying with Peter as she had to meet Steven and Daniel and after that, she had to rush to her job because she volunteered for overtime. Cassie wanted to make money as much as she could. Also after that make-out dream, she needed some time to forget about it.
Cassie headed to Steven’s dorm, he was standing outside looking at the sky. Cassie stood next to him, Steven didn’t say anything. Cassie after waiting for a few minutes. “Why do you want to hide?”
Steven responded. “Daniel finally make you realize that you did wrong to me.”
Cassie’s eyes widened and her tongue popped out. “How did you know about it?”
Steven looked at her. “He is my friend too and I think I know him more than you.”
Cassie pressed her lips and held her hand over his. “You didn’t answer me.”
Steven shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know, Specs. Maybe I need some time for myself because I can't figure out why seeing you with Daniel doesn't make me feel weird right now. It makes me feel safe when you walk around with him. I mean, I need to know what kind of guy I am. I can't explain this to everyone right now because I need to make myself clear about certain things.”
Cassie squeezed his hand. “I am sorry for jumping guns.”
Steven closed his finger around her hand. “I would never be ashamed of you and Daniel, trust me.”
Cassie smiled. “You have no idea how happy I am right now. I would have kissed you but I don’t want anyone to assume I am two-timing you both.”
Steven and Cassie laughed.
