Chapter 13
When Cassie went to see Steven, he was sitting alone on the stairs cursing himself. Cassie cleared her throat to tell Steven about her presence. He turned around and when he saw Cassie, he pointed at her. “It’s all because of you.”
Cassie got annoyed and gave a sarcastic laugh. “I didn’t know that today is Cassie-is-responsible-for-everything day.”
Steven sighed. “Why are you here?”
Cassie put her bag on the stairs and sat next to Steven. “It seemed to me that you need a friend right now.”
Steven looked at her. “How could you be so nice to me when yesterday I…”
Cassie cut him off. “I know what you did yesterday just don’t repeat it.”
Steven shook his head. “You must hate me. Right?”
Cassie looked at him. “I was angry and I didn’t want to say anything that I regret after coming back to my senses and this was the reason I stormed out of your dorm.”
Steven looks at the stairs. “So you are saying that you don’t hate me?”
Cassie nodded. “Only one thing is bothering me why the hell you don’t date?”
Steven looked at her in shock. “No one ever asks me this.”
Cassie pointed at him. “And this is the reason no one knows about it.”
Steven squinted. “What do you mean?”
Cassie looked at him. “Everyone knows that you don’t date but why do this no one knows about it.”
Steven raised his hand to stop Cassie. “Wait, wait are you telling me that you talk about us with everyone?”
Cassie raised her brow. “Remember you and me are not us also I didn’t talk to everyone I just spoke to my friend.”
Steven asked. “And that glasses, nerdy looks guy is your friend?”
Cassie nodded. “Now answer my question.”
Steven exhaled. "Partnerships need a significant commitment. Throughout my entire life, I witnessed my father watching every football game with crushed dreams in his eyes. My mom became pregnant with me when my dad eventually had the opportunity to play on a major league team. My mom and Dad were high school sweethearts. While pursuing her degree, my mother and Dad decided to give up their careers to raise a family. In business, my dad pursued the same path as my grandfather. I can see their crushed dreams in their eyes, even though Mom is a wonderful homemaker and Dad is a prosperous businessman today."
Cassie asked. “So, you think you can’t play football and be with a girl at once. Right?”
Steven shook his head. “I don’t just want to play football I want to play with major leagues and that required a hell of a lot of hard work which I couldn’t do if I were with any girl.”
Cassie put her hand under her chin. “And what are your thoughts on Messi and Ronaldo?”
Steven opened his lips but he had nothing to defend his point. Cassie raised her brows. “I can wait as long as you want because I just had one class in a day.”
Steven is being indecisive in choosing his words. “I…. I don’t……I never think…….That thought never crossed my mind.”
Cassie giggled. “No problem, take your time and once you have the answer don’t forget to tell me,”
Steven asked. “Are you still angry with me?”
Cassie shook her head. “I don’t think anyone can be angry with you for so long.”
Steven smiled. “You make me feel good. You ignited some spark in me.”
Cassie asked. “And back to your initial claim that you were not playing well because of me. Care to share any details please.”
Steven responded. “Since the moment you left my dorm my head was wrapped around you. I mean I had been with girls but I never felt this with anyone.”
Cassie didn’t know what to say so she tried to change the topic. “I am sure you’ll get back to your perfect self soon.”
Steven held her arms. “Are you willing to give me another chance?”
Cassie ducked her head. “I don’t know Steven, but I don’t hate you or be mad at you for sure.”
Steven sighed. “So your answer is no.”
Cassie didn't want to break his heart and also she didn’t want to be apart from Steven so she responded. “I can give you another chance to earn what we had.”
Steven asked. “Do you mind if I want us to resume where we left off?”
Cassie was taken aback and she had no chance to respond because Steven pulled her close and kissed her. Cassie didn’t hesitate to kiss him back. Steven’s weak and gentle shoves of his tongue to open her lips were enough to melt her panty. Cassie moved up her hands and cupped Steven’s face and gripped it tight because he didn’t want to let him go this time. When Steven plunged his tongue down her throat Cassie moaned their kiss was getting intense and Cassie wanted more but when they heard footsteps of a group of people near them both parted their lips and acted as if they were just sitting and talking.
Cassie’s mind recalled a kiss with Daniel and right now she wanted to kiss them both because it would be an excellent combination of Daniel’s wild and Steven’s gentle kiss. She shrugged herself to remove her weird urge.
Cassie was about to stand but Steven held her hand. “Stay with me.”
Cassie smiled. “I would love to do that but right now you need to go for practice and I need to go Professor Glen.”
Steven nodded and Cassie headed to Professor’s office. Cassie bumped into Peter on her way to the professor’s office. “Watch where you going.”
Cassie didn’t want to argue so she rolled her eyes and walked past him but Peter told her. “Don’t waste your time because he will not change his mind.”
Cassie turned around. “How could you talk to him without me?”
Peter responded. “Yeah, like I have no life. What makes you think that I would wait for Her Highness?”
Cassie clenched her jaw. “I would never work with you at any cost.”
Peter pretended to whine. “Oh, I am dying to work with you princess.”
Cassie pointed at him. “Soon I will crush your this freaking attitude, just wait and watch.”
Peter kept his hand on his heart and bent his head a little bit. “Challenge accepted.”
Cassie turned around and walked away from Peter, unable to stand him. Now she is so disgusted that she has a dream of kissing him last night and in the morning thinking him attractive. In reality, for Cassie, Peter is a fucking arrogant maniac.
While heading home she was thinking about Daniel and Steven. Still, she couldn’t decide which one she would choose. She pinned the topic with Daniel for a while but one day they had to talk about it. Cassie has to tell Daniel that she thinks of him more than a friend and when she was setting him up with Rita her heart was weeping but she believed it would be best to assure Daniel that she saw him as a friend.
