CHAPTER 19

She walked to where her father in law was seated and she took his hand in hers. She closed her eyes, her left hand playing with her beads as usual and began to concentrate on his life.
Damn this man had too many secrets, painful ones and interesting ones. He had so many things that were just being a burden and needed to be said out for him to have peace. She didn’t want to divulge further so she let his hand go.
“My King, you should tell her. If you don’t do that, she will never know how you feel about her and that might cause you to drift away from each other? To you it may not be a secret but you know exactly what’s happening and just pour your heart out. It was just a mistake and if you are sincere, she will see it.”
“You are really genuine?”
“I’m afraid so. As for the other matter, I think you should not rush. I see the people of out kingdom crying because of it. Wait and delay as much as you can and you will see a different outcome that will be beneficial to the kingdom,” she explained and saw the King’s face changing.
“I understand, I will do as you say. Aren’t you allowed to say it as it is?”
“I’m afraid not. I believe one will know exactly what I’m talking about and another thing, temptation will come but please you need to overcome that obstacle or else I will intervene and that will be ugly. You should push her away, don’t let her fool you no matter what.”
“Who are you talking about?”
“In a week’s time, on my husband’s birthday you shall see the devil in red. If it’s possible cast the devil out and don’t fall for its schemes. Not only will you be affected but your marriage also will fall into shambles.
The royal family of Caruso will become a laughingstock of the world. I have said too much my King; I haven’t eaten anything in a week. I will take my leave, if you require my services please summon me and I will be there,” she said and left the hall.
She was pretty scared saying all those things but she had learnt that it was her duty to say it even if that means courting death. She wasn’t going to allow that vixen to trample on her family. If she didn’t back out then she was going to strike her by lightning and make the whole thing to just disappear.
A few days later Talia was walking looking at the new mansion their royal majesties had bestowed upon her and her husband. It was very huge, so many rooms and no one to put there.
Jane had tagged along and became her chief of staff. She was responsible for everything that happens in the mansion. That day she was busy selecting appropriate maids for the mansion. Her husband had gone to school so she was bored being home alone.
Ever since she entered the mansion, she had never left one bit and she was having that urgency of just leaving. She had not yet bought Neal’s birthday present and his birthday was approaching.
She left her room and went downstairs where she found Jane who was busy selecting the maids.
“Where is the driver?” she asked her.
“I will call him for you. Where do you want to go?”
“The CBD; I’m bored and I just want to pick a few things up.”
“Okay, I will get him for you.”
While Jane was gone to fetch the driver, she began to look at the candidates. Over the past few days she had been advancing, with just one good look she could see what she wanted.
As she looked at them one by one, she saw this girl. She reminded her of the time she had no one to rely on but the people were good to her.
“Is she really that sick?” she asked her and saw her appalled look.
“How do you know, your royal highness?”
“They don’t call me a weirdo for nothing,” she smiled and stretched out her hand to hers.
The other girl touched hers and she closed her eyes, “she will be fine, she has someone like you and I can tell you are a hard worker. Don’t let the worldly desires get to you or else you will fall to your ruin. You understand what I’m saying right?”
“Yes, I do. I will bear that in mind.”
“You are hired,” she said and Jane appeared at that moment.
“Good choice,” she said.
“I like her. Is everything ready?”
“Yes, he is waiting for you.”
“Good then. If my husband happens to call, just tell him I’m out for some air.”
“I will tell him that.”
Talia left the hall and went outside where the black Bentley was waiting. The driver opened the door for her and she got in.
“Let’s go to the mall,” she said and the driver started the ignition and drove off.
On her way she couldn’t help herself but ponder into her driver’s life.
“Your life is a bit difficult, isn’t it, Sir?”
“Not really your highness.”
“You have a job, a beautiful wife and yet the only thing you want you never got it. How long has it been since you have been trying to get a child?”
“A decade now,” he replied.
“That’s a very long time but I admire you, you never left her even though your relatives wanted you to. You love your wife so much and because of that love, I will grant you your greatest wish,” she said staring at the driver through the rear-view mirror.
