CHAPTER 23
“You will have to ask him that yourself,” Talia answered.
“How can you be so rude?”
“You are the one I should be asking that. Not only did you come to disturb me but you want to throw away things that don’t belong to you. How can you be so greedy?” she asked.
“You are the one that is greedy. You took away my man, everything you took. Do you even know what his favorite color is or food?”
“Does it even matter? I don’t care about all that. What matters at the end of the day is he is mine; he shares the same bed with me and I’m his wife and you are not.”
“How dare you?” Chloe screamed at her but got choked.
“I told you not to touch that,” Talia said looking at the beads.
“I will throw them out and vent my anger at you,” she said and really threw them away.
She couldn’t believe the guts of Chloe but there was one way of putting her in her original place. Talia began to whimper and Chloe looked at her with a smirk on her face.
“Such a lousy girl, how can you whimper because of this? I’m going to make you regret ever saying yes to his proposal,” she said and raised her hand.
Chloe wanted to slap her and she was going to allow it. she didn’t even avoid it but let her slap her right on the cheeks and she fell to the ground and a tear formed and run down her cheeks.
She looked at the sky and saw the clouds forming. The party was going to be held inside so there was no danger if she plays some few tricks outside.
“What are you looking at?” Chloe asked very furious and she slapped her again.
This time tears began to run down her cheeks and the clouds became dark. Neal was talking to his father when the sky suddenly changed.
“Shit,” he said and his father gave him the go ahead.
He ran out from his father and brothers and found his mother with the guests.
“Mother, where is Talia?”
“I left her with your sister in laws some minutes ago. What’s happening?”
“Doesn’t the sudden change in weather remind you of anything?”
“Oh my God. We need to find her now,” she said and the two went to the lounge where Talia was supposed to be.
He found his two sisters in laws crying silently.
“What’s happening here?” the queen asked.
“We don’t know what happened but they seemed to have lost their voices some minutes ago.”
“How is that even possible? Where is Talia?”
“She left when the duchesses didn’t reply her,” the maid answered.
He knew just what she had done and if she was causing the rain to start fall early this morning then someone did something to her.
“Which way did she go?”
“Probably the back garden. Oh, and I saw Ms. Spader, going that way too.”
Now he understood the sudden change of the weather.
“Mother……..”
“Let’s go before something happens.”
They went to the back garden and found Talia on the floor, crying and Chloe was slapping her on the cheeks. He looked at his mother and saw how furious she saw. He rushed to the gazebo despite the rain falling on him.
He pushed Chloe away and hugged Talia whose makeup had been spoiled by the tears and cheeks red from being slapped.
“How dare you slap my wife?” he asked furiously.
“She started it.”
“She can never hurt an ant,” he said looking at her while his mother approached.
“Where are the beads?” his mother asked as she arrived. He looked at Talia and noticed that they weren’t there.
“She threw them away,” Talia replied while sobbing.
He had never seen his mother so furious like that before. For the first time he saw his mother raising her hand and slapped Chloe on her cheek.
“I opened the gates to my house for you and you beat my daughter in law; the princess of this country and the Seer on top of that. Are you tired of living?” she screamed at her.
“I…”
Neal left the gazebo and found the beads lying on the grass. He took them and gave them back to Talia who began to wipe her tears.
“Calm down Talia. The rain needs to stop or many people will be affected,” he said trying to calm her down.
Slowly she wiped her tears away and closed her eyes. She always does this whenever she meditates. They all watched as the rain stopped and the clouds start to clear.
“If something bad had happened, not only you but your whole family was going to pay,” the queen warned Chloe who was now quiet and very terrified.
“Mother, please forgive her. I believe she had learnt her lesson. She is just a heartbroken girl who wanted to vent her anger on someone and that happened to be me,” Talia asked in Chloe’s place for forgiveness.
