Chapter sixty-one: Coming Home To You

Chapter sixty-one: Coming Home To You

Jessica

As I entered the basement, I was greeted with a wet bar, shelves of alcohol lining the wall behind it. There was also a massive television opposite the bar with a few couches in front of it. I figured out that this is his man cave, glanced around for any other doors down there. I walked around the corner through the door by the bar and sighed with relief seeing a space specifically for Jeffrey's designs.

He had one wall soley for his clothing that seemed like they were from the past years. My eyes immediately landed in a black pea coat, I looked at size and it was only a little bigger than my size. I shrugged and decided to take it upstairs, I will return it to the rack when I come back from lunch of course.

Before noon, I had already worn the coat over one of my sweatpants, my black fleece leggings and the boots Jeffrey had bought me. I put on my scarf as well and grabbed my purse and headed out to meet Luke.

We drove the streets of Marseille, seeing people shopping for Christmas gifts and then I remembered that I needed to buy Jeffrey gift for Jeffrey while I was out. We had arrived at Oriental, Luke opened the car door and helped me out, making sure I didn't slip on the sidewalk. I went inside, being greeted by the warm atmosphere and walked up to the counter.

"Hello, table for one?" The lady at the counter greeted me with a smile.

"Actually, I am here to pick up my lunch that is under Craig's name." I said with a matching smile, she nodded and walked around the corner.

I glanced around the area, it was so beautiful. The music was lovely and I could tell the food was good and amazing. She returned moments later with a brown box labeled with the restaurant's name and handed it to me.

"Here you go, it has already been paid. Enjoy your meal." I nodded, of course he must have paid.

"Thank you."

I left the restaurant and hopped back into the car and we drove off.

"Luke, do you know of anything that Jeffrey needs or wants for Christmas?"

He didn't say anything, I kept thinking of things that he might have mentioned to me but nothing was coming to mind.

"Can we stop by the Rolex store then?" He smiled and nodded.

"Of course."

We arrived at the store, I went inside and gazed around the multiple watches on display. Jeffrey didn't seem like the type for a fancy glamorous watch but maybe one that was still fashionable and vintage.

"Hello?" A young man came up to me.

"Can I help you with anything?"

"Yes, I want to buy a watch for my boyfriend. I am not really sure what I am looking for but do you have anything pretty classic looking."

He thought for a moment and then responded.

"Let me look, I think I have the watch you have in mind."

A few seconds later, he brought one beautiful silver watch. It was perfect and the price wasn't that much. It was something that I could afford so I instantly bought it and we drove back home afterwards.

I heard the front door close and u turned my head to see Jeffrey walking through the foyer.

"Hi, Princess." He greeted me with a smile.

He set his keys down on the coffee table and sat down next to me and immediately connected our lips into a kiss.

"How was your day?"

"Lovely," I responded.

"Lunch was amazing by the way, the scallops were incredible."

"I am glad you enjoyed it, the Oriental is one of my favorite restaurants."

"I can see that." I smiled.

"So how was work? Did you get everything sorted out?"

He sighed and leaned his head back against the couch. I scooted closer, really wanting to just run my fingers through his hair.

"It was stressful but I think we have got everything figured out and I will be good to go back after New year without worries."

As he was speaking, I let my hand move into his hair, massaging his scalp and watching his eyelids flutter shut and he leaned more into my touch.

"Hmmm, that feels good."

I bit my lips, leaning closer to him and pressing a gentle kiss to his cheek. His dimples appeared and he opened his eyes, looking at me and then sitting up straight.

I think you will do justice by kissing on this cheek too." He pointed to his other cheek and I giggled.

I leaned forward and placed another kiss to his rosy cold cheek and as I pulled away, his eyes gazed at me. His lips pressed in a thin line and the corner of his mouth turned up slightly, I cocked my head

"What?" He blinked a few times before responding.

"This is nice."

"What is nice?"

He then took my hand in his, looking down at them as he intertwined our fingers.

"Coming home to you, it felt nice. I could see it happening more often." I smiled.

Finally, Christmas Eve is here and I had surprisingly managed to wrap his gift without him knowing. I debated on whether or not to put them under the tree but I figured I would wait until the middle of the night to put them out. I was happy with my choice of watch but I was more nervous about the second gift that I had managed to come up with. I was praying he would like it but another part of me was worried he would think it was cheesy and would never get any use out of it.

Hopefully, he also wouldn't give me the lecture about spending my money. I wanted to roll my eyes just thinking about it but I couldn't.

"Princess?" He called from the bedroom.

"Yes, Jeffrey?" I turned to face him.

He walked out with two different dress shirts, holding each one up to his chest.

"Which one should I wear tomorrow?" He moved himself to stand in front of the full length mirror on the wall.

"I know we were just gathering with my family but I want to look good, you know?"

I looked at the two shirts, one is light pink and the other one is navy blue.

"I really like the navy blue one more." He nodded in agreement, a small smile on his face but it was just enough to reveal his dimples.

He hung the light pink shirt back before walking back to the bedroom and placing the navy blue shirt on the bed. I then grabbed the dress laying on the other side of the bed and held it out to him.

"Does this dress work? Or should I wear something else?"

He pondered as he examined it, grabbing the dress and feeling the fabric between his fingers.

"You might be a little cold in this. I am sure my mother will have us outside to listen to the carolers at some point. I don't want you being too cold."

"I could wear a coat or something. I am not sure I have a nice sweater though."

"I have one, it will be oversized on you but you can wear a long necklace and it would look great with some blue jeans."

He went to his closet, rummaging around before pulling a lilac sweater off the hanger and bringing it to me.

"Won't I be too underdressed?" I asked as I held the soft sweater in my hands. He shook his head with a wave of his hand.

"No, you would have a problem being overdressed if you wore that dress. We usually wear jumpers to holiday events so you will be fine." I smiled and leaned up to kiss his lips.

"You are welcome, Princess."

We were going to have lunch with his entire family tomorrow and I was a little nervous about making a good impression. But his constant reassuringly seemed to lessen the nerves. I also had a little bit of sadness that this was the first time I am spending Christmas without my mother. He seemed to notice I was a bit off once he had finished getting ready to bed. He sat next to me and placed his hand on my thigh.

"Hey, are you alright?" I looked down at his hand, placing mine over it and shrugging.

"Yes, I think I am just a little homesick."

It felt weird because I had been away from my family for longer than a measly three weeks but this time I was in a different country and it was during the holidays. This is the first time in my twenty years I was spending Christmas without my mother.

"I am sorry, Princess." I smiled and shook my head.

"It is fine, I will be fine." I assured him.

"I will just facetime my mother tomorrow to check on her."

"That sounds good." He smiled.

We nestled ourselves under the sheets, it wasn't long before Jeffrey was in a deep slumber. I managed to slip out of his grasp so I could place his present under the tree. I sneaked back into the bed and cuddled close to his warm body.

I fell asleep after a few minutes and was driven into the darkness of sleep.
