Chapter eighty-two: Twins
Chapter eighty-two: Twins
Jessica
"I really shouldn't decide on this without Jeffrey." I said to Rose and Angelie as we sat outside a little cafe downtown.
"You don't have to decide, Jessica." Angelie said.
"But you should totally name the baby Saint Laurent."
"We are not naming our baby Saint Laurent." I laughed.
"We have discussed a few names but we haven't narrowed it down to anything. We can conclude on that when we find out about the gender."
"I am so excited." Rose grinned.
"I think it will be great to have a little party down by the pier though. It will be so nice." Angelie added.
"I still don't know what he is planning, he just said we would be going to the pier and that is it." I shrugged.
I took another small bite of my muffin, hoping it wouldn't upset my stomach. Thankfully, my morning sickness had gone away by the time I met up with the girls for lunch but I never knew what I should eat and what I shouldn't.
"Knowing Jeffrey, it will be something completely elaborate. I wouldn't be surprised if he hired a plane to write it in the sky." Rose said.
"Oh my goodness," I shook my head with laughter.
"The possibilities are endless with him, aren't they?"
We went back to the house after lunch, lounging around for a couple more hours. Rose talked about her and Sam's honeymoon to Dubai and after all the pictures she showed me, I knew it was a place I would definitely want to visit.
"Everything is so beautiful there. The color scheme of white and blue is everywhere and I love it."
"I can't wait to travel more, we will be going to England soon." I said.
"I am going to miss you so much while you are there. Paris is going to be so boring without you.
"Yes, I can't hang out with just Rose." Angelie added, earning an offended look from the other. I laughed as she continued.
"No offense, but it is fun having a third girl around. Besides, we may have a fourth." She looked at my tummy, to which I placed my hand over and shrugged.
"My money is set on a boy but Jeffrey is extremely confident that it is a girl. I don't think so."
"I think it is a boy." Rose said.
"Imagine two Jeffrey's running around the house."
"I can't even handle one of them sometimes." I laughed.
I did notice that the more I looked up pregnancy bellies at three months, the more I noticed that I wasn't as small as it looked like I should be. It got me worried a little, wondering how big the baby is going to get and if I would end up needing a cesarean section or not. Both my aunt and my grandma had one and I worried if I could run in the family.
The girls left a few minutes before Jeffrey came home. He walked through the door with his fancy shoes clicking across the hard floors.
"Hi, honey." He greeted me, leaning down to kiss my lips.
"How was your day?" I scooted over on the couch as he sat down next to me.
"It was fine, Rose and Angelie visited and we went out for lunch. We discussed baby names."
"Don't let them name our baby." He said, pointing his fingers at me.
"I am not," I laughed.
"Angelie wants to name the baby Saint Laurent."
"Is that option on the table?" He asked teasingly and I playfully hit his shoulder.
"No and we better discuss this now since we will find out more about the gender tomorrow." He pressed his lips, taking a deep breath.
"Alright, let's get this done with."
***********
"Are you nervous?" Angelie asked as we stood on the pier.
I still had no idea what Jeffrey had planned for us but apparently it was going to be a night to remember. I nodded and wrapped my cardigan tighter around me.
"I think I am nervous about how Jeffrey planned the reveal more than I am nervous of finding out the gender of the baby." She laughed.
We walked further down the pier, the sun nearly disappearing beneath the horizon and no longer casting a glow on the river. I glanced over my shoulder at Jeffrey who was on the phone while standing with Sam and Jorge. Then I noticed a familiar face standing beside him and I immediately recognized who it was, Janice.
"Oh my goodness," I gasped, turning back around and walking over, pulling her into a hug.
"You didn't tell me that you were coming?" She pulled away with a chuckle.
"It was honestly very spontaneous so I didn't really know I was coming either."
"Did you fly with Jorge?" I asked, lowering my voice so he didn't hear us talking about him. She nodded and I could see the blush on her cheeks.
"He has taken me out to dinner twice now." I rolled my lips between my teeth to fight the smile forming on my face.
"Anyways, that is a story for another day." She waved her hand.
"I am so happy for you and Jeffrey."
"Thank you," I smiled, subconsciously putting my hand on my stomach.
"I am so happy you could make it."
"Me too, I wouldn't miss my best friend's party for anything. When did you go to the doctor for the gender?"
"This morning, we asked them to write the baby's gender on a piece of paper and Jeffrey took it somewhere. I have no idea what the baby's gender is."
"That's so exciting, yet terrifying at the same time." She laughed.
"And you have no idea what Jeffrey has planned either?" I shook my head with a laugh.
"I know little to nothing."
Jeffrey walked over to us at that moment, grabbing my hand.
"It is almost time, you ready?"
"Almost time for what?" I asked as he began leading me back towards the other end of the pier.
"Just come with me." He smiled.
He called our friends over to gather around, we stood facing the horizon. The sun was long gone and the bright lights of the attraction were twinkling before us.
"The sky is going to light up in the color of the gender of our baby." He said and my eyes widened.
"It…what?" I managed to stay.
"How did you manage to do that?"
"I made some calls." He grinned.
"Pink for a girl and blue for a boy."
I covered my mouth with my hands immediately watching for the sky to change colors. He wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me closer to him as we waited anxiously.
"Oh my goodness," I said, tears forming and Jeffrey immediately envelope me in a hug.
"We are having a girl."
He cheered as the sky turned to pink now, tears streamed down his face to which he quickly wiped and then leaned down to press a kiss to my lips.
"Wait," I heard Rose's voice.
"Jessica, look."
I turned to her and her eyes were on the sky. I followed her gaze and the attraction was now fully blue. I frowned, looking at Jeffrey and then to the sky that had changed to half pink, half blue.
"What is going on?" I asked.
"Jeffrey, do you still have the paper from the doctor?"
"Y…yes," he said, digging into his pocket frantically and pulling out the envelope. He opened it and started reading.
"Holy shít….oh my goodness."
"What, Jeffrey? What is it?"
"Princess, we are….we are having two babies." He breathed, my mouth fell open and I looked back at the sky.
"We are having…..oh my goodness." The smile formed on my face.
"We are having two babies."
"Twins?" Angelie blurted, looking at the sky in astonishment.
"We are having twins." I giggled, the tears coming once more and I wrapped my arms around Jeffrey.
Everyone cheered with congratulations but their sounds were only background noises because all I could see was Jeffrey saying softly into my ear.
"I love you so much, Princess. I love you….I love you."
By the time Jeffrey and I got home thanks night, it was late and I was exhausted but I still felt like I was on a high.
I sat down on the side of the bed, kicking my shoes off and then laying myself down, closing my eyes and waiting for sleep to take over. I heard Jeffrey walk in and he shuffled over to my side.
"Don't you want to get under the covers, my love?" I groaned.
"I don't want to move." I muttered, keeping my eyes closed.
I felt his hand brush my hair away from my face, his fingers gently caressing my cheeks.
"Okay," he responded.
Some moments later, I felt him draping a blanket over my body, making sure to tuck me in before he placed a kiss on my temple. He went over to his side and pulled the sheet back, climbing into the bed before turning the lights off. Once he settled, I opened my eyes and whispered softly.
"I am sorry if I am being moody." He scooted closer to me and placed his hand on my waist.
"It is fine, Princess." He kissed my shoulder.
"Just get some sleep." I nodded even though he couldn't see it.
"I love you," I added.
"I love you more, Princess."
I hated feeling grumpy around Jeffrey but the mood swings were more evident as the weeks went on. I was grumpy about not fitting into my clothes, always being tired and I was grumpy about eating the food I craved only to end up vomiting an hour later.
