Chapter eighty-four: She Is In Labour

Chapter eighty-four: She Is In Labour

Jessica

It has been one month since we held the baby shower. Jeffrey and I have started our wedding and getting the basics completed. He was sitting on the couch with glasses perched on the bridge of his nose as he pulled up different wedding venues on his laptop.

"How about we get married in the place they film The Devil Wears Prada?" I suggested, he looked at me with raised eyebrows.

"It can be done if you would like."

"I am just joking, Jeffrey." He rolled his eyes with a teasing grin, turning back to his computer.

"Montmartre looks so beautiful." He said, pulling up a stunning picture of the venue. I sat down next to him and couldn't help but stare in awe.

"It is gorgeous." He nodded.

"It is beautiful and there's an incredible music room that could be used for the reception." He pulled up a photo and my jaw dropped.

"That's….holy shít. Jeffrey, it is beautiful."

"You would look like a true princess." He smiled as he looked at me.

"Absolutely royalty."

"Wow," I breathed.

I didn't even know what to say, it was a breathtaking building and he was right, I would definitely look like a princess if we wed there.

"Is it not expensive?"

"It is luxurious, nonetheless but I want the perfect wedding for my perfect lady."

"You are too good to me." He leaned over and kissed my cheek.

We ended up going with the Montmartre and then he made a note to call them and work out potential wedding dates.

"I know we have got tons of time but have you thought about a dress?" I smiled and nodded.

"I have had this wedding dress since high school."

"Really?" He asked.

"What is it?"

"Well, I can't tell you, can I?" I giggled.

"It will ruin the surprise."

"Can I at least know the brand since I will be paying for it?"

"Absolutely not, you are not buying my dress. I can buy my own dress."

He titled his head, giving me that look he always flashed when I suggested something myself but instead, he sighed.

"Okay, you are the bride so I will let you do whatever you want."

"Thank you," I smiled, kissing his cheek.

I had planned on having a Pnina Tornail dress for as long as I can remember. There was one dress I saw on say yes to the dress for years and it is the dress I would walk down the aisle in. In a venue like Montmartre, it will fit perfectly.

We decided on an autumn wedding and he told me that he will make some calls tomorrow morning at the office to see if we could get the wedding set next year. I was starting to get giddy just thinking about the next few months with Jeffrey. The babies would be born by then and I would be able to go dress shopping, I would be getting back into the modeling business. I am so excited for what the future is bringing and I am happy to share it with my favorite person in the world. I am happy that he is in my life, Jeffrey is the best thing that has happened to me.

I felt sudden pressure in my pelvis when I wanted to stand up. I hastily held my stomach, letting out a shaky breath as I sat down back. Jeffrey looked at me concerned, shifting his body to face me and his eyes widened.

"My love, are you okay? You are not going into labor, are you?" He asked as he rushed towards me.

"No,no. I think they are just moving around."

I leaned back and sighed, he scooted closer, leaning his elbow against the back of the couch and gazing down at me.

"The idea of leaving you alone when your due date is close terrifies me."

"Jeffrey, I don't need you watching over me like a hawk 24 hours a day." I grabbed his hand and intertwined our fingers.

"I can handle being alone for a few hours while you are at work. I can always call Rose or Angelie and have them come over if you are that worried." He sighed and smiled softly.

"I know…. The unknown feeling of when the babies are going to come out is what scares me, I guess."

"We still have time." I said, running my thumb across his hand.

"Don't worry."

No matter how many times I reassured Jeffrey, it felt like at any moment he would set up a security system to watch me at all times. He was so afraid with every movement the babies made that I would be going into labor. I still had a few weeks left so I knew I would start getting extremely uncomfortable with the babies moving around before they were actually born.

I was with Rose at the mall, looking for new sheets for the cribs since the ones we had bought weren't the right size. We took the previous ones to the customer service and returned them before heading to pick the correct sizes.

The babies had been moving around in my stomach all day, almost to the point where I needed to just lay down. They will be born soon, I would rather have the sheets now than worry about them later.

"Here we go," I said, pulling the sheets off the shelf and slipping them into the basket Rose was holding.

"Oh, crab. We should grab that baby lotion my mother was telling me about." She chuckled and followed me down the aisle.

I was starting to get anxious, making sure all the necessities were at home and ready for the babies' arrival.

"Heck!" I muttered under my breath, taking a few seconds to stop and breath as I felt sudden pressure in my abdomen.

"Are you okay?" She asked worriedly, grasping my arm.

"Y..yes. I am fine, they are just rambunctious there, I guess."

But I could only take a few more steps before I felt another wave of pressure. I felt liquid trickling down my legs.

"Oh, no."

"Shít, Jessica, is that…."

"My water broke."

******Jeffrey Pov.******

"Yes, yes." I said on the phone, rubbing my eyes and glancing at the clock.

Only a few minutes remaining before I could go home and make sure Jessica is okay. Being at work and not with her was anxiety inducing and I felt like I needed maternity leave myself.

"Just emailed me when the products are ready to launch."

"We will work out a photo shoot later in the month, thanks."

I hung up and sighed, leaning back in my chair and rubbing my hands down my face. My phone rang again, I groaned, grabbing it and picking up the call.

"Jeffrey, come to The City Hospital as soon as you can."

"Rose?" I said as my heart rate increased.

"What is going on? Where is Jessica?"

"She is in the car with me, her water broke, Jeffrey. We will meet you there."

"Fúck!"

I dropped the phone, grabbed my keys and rushed out the door and went to the receptionist.

"Amanda, cancel the rest of my meeting today, my wife is in labor."

I completely blurted out my wife but I didn't even care. Jessica is in labor and I needed to get there as soon as possible. The hospital was a good ten minutes drive from my office but if I speed, depending on the traffic, I might be able to get there in a decent amount of time.

I was worried at how far away they were, or if they were already there. I was gripping the steering wheel far too hard and I honked my horn angrily, trying to get people to move. I finally made it to the hospital and headed to the front desk immediately.

"Hi, umm is Jessica Silver here yet? She is in labor and…."

"Jeffrey!"

I turned over my shoulder and saw Jessica with Rose holding her up. A nurse hastily went to her side with a wheelchair, letting her sit down. I rushed to her and grabbed her hand.

"Hi, love." I smiled.

"You are okay, you are doing great…."

"Oh my gosh," she cried, clutching her stomach and squeezing her eyes shut.

"Ugh, it hurts, Jeffrey."

"I know, sweetheart, I know."

We began wheeling her back to the delivery room but another nurse stopped us just as we entered the hall.

"I am sorry, sir but you two can't come inside unless…."

"I am her husband, I need to be there with her." She nodded and I turned to Rose.

"Are you okay with waiting? Call Sam and Angelie and get them down here."

I started walking towards the room where Jessica was, Rose nodded and pulled out her phone before heading back through the double door to the lobby.

I walked in there, held Jessica by her hand and I started rubbing her back.
