Chapter seventy-five: A Song For You

Chapter seventy-five: A Song For You

Jessica

Valentine's Day had fallen on a Friday. So unfortunately I did have to go to class this morning and would be away from Jeffrey. He surprisingly slept all through my alarm and my shuffling around the room to get ready.

When I went to school, some parts of the campus were decorated in red and white and I noticed a few people spending their lunch hours with their significant others. I had two lectures before I could go back home and see Jeffery which wasn't awful but I didn't enjoy spending my Valentine's Day stuck in a stuffy lecture hall.

Finally, I rounded my lectures in the afternoon and trudged home, walking through the door and immediately setting my backpack down. I noticed that there was a folded note on the armrest of the couch with my name scrawled on top of it. I opened it to see Jeffrey's beautiful penmanship littering the page.

'Roses are red, Violets are blue. Meet me at the place where I first laid eyes on you.'

I thought for a moment before I remembered the coffee shop. I turned around, walked out of the door and decided to walk since the shop wasn't that far from our apartment.

As I got to the familiar building, I walked inside and was greeted by the warm air against my cold cheeks. I spotted Jeffrey sitting at the exact table where I was sitting the night we met. I walked over and sat down across him, having a very deja Vu moment as I looked into his eyes.

"Hi, Princess." He said as he leaned forward and kissed my cold lips.

"Hi, love." I replied with a rosy cheeked smile.

"Is this our Valentine's Day date?" He shrugged.

"I supposed, maybe partially."

"I feel like I have gone back in time." I said as I glanced around the small space.

The memories of Jeffrey buying me coffee and our first word was said to each other slowly returning back.

"I have a little surprise for you." I frowned in confusion.

He held out his hand and I placed mine on top of it. Leading me out of the coffee shop, we walked down the path away from campus towards a little park where his car was parked.

"You parked all the way here?" I asked and he smirked.

"Stop talking and closing your eyes." He chuckled and I shut my mouth as well as my eyes. He led me a little further and then stopped in his tracks so I did.

"Don't open your eyes." I sighed with a slight smile and felt his hand drop from mine. I stood patiently waiting for him to speak and it felt like ages before I heard his voice.

"Okay, Princess. You can open your eyes."

My eyelids fluttered open and Jeffrey stood before me with a guitar in his hands and a shy grin on his face. My eyes widened and I pointed to the guitar.

"Um…what is that." He rolled his eyes.

"Something I…um wrote for you."

I felt my heart skip as he looked down at his guitar and began strumming so effortlessly like he has been doing this for years. The notes played together so beautifully and when he began singing, I felt like his voice alone could melt both my heart and the snow around us.

'Sweet creatures, had another talk about where it is going wrong. We are still young, we don't know where we are going but we know where we belong.'

I bit my lips as he sang, my heart fluttering each time his fingers moved up and down the neck of the guitar to change the notes. He kept his eyes either closed or on the guitar, looking up at me every so often but I could tell he was nervous.

'Sweet creatures, sweet creatures, wherever I go, you bring me home. Sweet creatures, sweet creatures, when I run out of road, you bring me home.'

As he finished the song, I felt the tears starting to form but I pushed them back so they wouldn't freeze on my cheeks from the cold air.

"So….did you like it?" He asked hesitantly as he moved the guitar to his back.

He sucked his bottom lips between his teeth and I smiled widely and walked over to him. I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed his cheek.

"That was the most beautiful thing anyone has ever done for me. I loved it." He smiled and hugged me back, wrapping his arms tightly around my waist.

"Thank goodness, I was so nervous you would hate it or it wouldn't be a good surprise or…."

"Jeffrey?"

I stopped him and pulled back enough to look into his eyes.

"You wrote a song for me, I can't even put into words how much that means to me." He blushed and his eyes flickered from mine to my lips.

"I love you,"

"I love you more." He responded.

This is one of my best Valentine's Day ever.

"Just come with me." Jeffrey pleaded.

"It will be fun and you don't have classes tomorrow."

"I don't know, Jeffrey." I said hesitantly.

"I don't know many of your friends."

"Sam and Leonard will be there and maybe even Jorge."

It was the weekend after Valentine's Day and Jeffrey organized a party at one of his hotels in the Katagum. I scrunch my nose at the idea of being with Jorge at a bar even though it has been a couple of months since the threesome happened. It was still a little awkward being around him.

"I went to your birthday party, remember." He raised his eyebrows.

"You will most certainly come with me." I opened my mouth to defend myself but he cut me off.

"Don't tell me that my friends are too old. I spent your entire birthday with your friends who are quite younger than I am and I also stripped for you." I let out a heavy sigh, knowing he was right.

"Okay, fine. I will go with you."

He bit his lips and clenched his fists as a victory and I rolled my eyes as he pulled me into his lap so I straddled him. He is the most childish Forty-two year old man that I had ever met. But it never stopped my love for him.

He pressed his forehead to mine, his eyes trained on my lips. I wrapped my arms around his neck and felt his curls grazing my forearms.

"You need to get a haircut soon." He smiled.

He dramatically threw his head back to flips his hair, his hands moving down to cup my ass as he pulled me closer.

"Maybe I want to grow it out. I had long hair when I was your age."

"Oh my gosh Jeffrey. Now you really sound like my father." I cringed, closing my eyes.

"But if you grow your hair out, it will make it easier to grab on it." He raised his eyebrows as I worked my fingers into his hair.

"I would rather prefer it if I were the one doing the hair pulling."

"Well, I can't let myself have all the fun." I said and he squeezed my rear before patting me gently.

"Come on, let's go get you an outfit for tonight's part."

"Is this going to be really fancy?"

I asked as we drove downtown, he had his hand resting on my thigh with his other hand in the steering wheel. His eyes focused on the road ahead of us.

"Or is it a casual party?" He shrugged.

"Fairly casually but I like getting a little dressed up."

"I could have just worn something I already had, Jeffrey." He turned to look at me, he smiled, deepening his dimples as he squeezed my thigh.

"You know me well enough that I would have never let that slide."

I placed my hand on top of his, twisting his peace ring around his middle finger.

"I know, you butthead."

"Hey, no need for name calling." He chuckled and we pulled into a parking space outside his company building.

"There is an outfit I have been putting together for you." He said as we walked into the building.

"You have already been putting together an outfit?" He shrugged with a subtle smirk.

He took my hand as we passed the main receptionist desk and I saw the woman behind the computer clenched her jaw at the sight of us. She was the same woman who tried to refuse me a pass key the first time I came to this building. I ignored her and turned my attention back to Jeffrey.

"It is fun."

We went up to the top floor and the atmosphere felt immediately different as the elevator opened. I had been here many times for photo shoots but every time I came with Jeffrey, it felt like I was going back in time to when he still works in his office.

With his initials on the door of his office gone and replaced, it was a little easy to forget that even though he wasn't working here. He still owned the entire building.
