Chapter 17



Ronaldo waited as Vanessa went to her room to dress up and after waiting for ten minutes, Vanessa returned and Ronaldo couldn't breathe for some time.

He gets lost starting at her, she wore a red short gown revealing her black shinny flawless straight legs, she wore a black heel shoes.

"Ric!" She screamed and he returned to his senses.

"Were you lost where?" She asked.

"Uhm sorry, I was just thinking about something." Ronaldo lied.

"Alright, let's go." Vanessa said.

"But why you chose to wear this, it's kinda revealing." Ronaldo asked.

"I understood that we need to love our self, yesterday I was hiding my skin because I was afraid of my color, but today, I'm proud that I'm black, all thanks to you." Vanessa answered.

"That's nice then, come on, let's goes, we are getting late." Ronaldo said.

She carried his bag and they walked to his car.

They entered and zoom off.



**The company**

Arriving at the company, Vanessa and Ronaldo walked out of the car and their colleagues sighted them, they all gasped on how extremely beautiful Vanessa looks.

They all gathered watching her.

Maria noticed that and she joined them.

"What are you guys watching? A black girl, oh don't embarrassed us please." Maria said but they didn't seem to notice her.

"Her clothes are so expensive, her dress alone worth 150 thousand pounds." One of them said.

Maria fumed in anger and she left the place.

She is already getting more attention than her.

Ronaldo and Vanessa entered the company.

"Good morning Mr Ronaldo." They all greeted.

"Morning guys, I guess everyone has work to do right? Go on and stop staring." Ronaldo said.

"Sorry sir, Vanessa, can we eat lunch together today?" They asked.

"Sorry, she isn't available." Ronaldo answered.

"Okay." They replied.

"Wait for me, I will come pick you for lunch, you can go to your office." Ronaldo said.

"Okay, take care." Vanessa smiled and waved at him.

Maria watched them with anger; she followed Ronaldo immediately he entered his office.

"Good morning Ronaldo." She greeted.

"Morning Maria, done with your punishment?" He asked.

"Yeah, here it is." Maria answered.

"Okay, next time be careful, you can leave." Ronaldo said checking it.

But she didn't move.

"Do you want something Maria?" Ronaldo asked.

"That girl, I mean the Vanessa girl, the dress she wore is so expensive for her to afford, I'm sure she stole some money from you." Maria said.

Ronaldo Chuckled.

"It's isn't funny Ronaldo, I'm so sad you are too blind to see that, that girl is a freaking fraud." Maria spat.

"She didn't steal any money from me, Vanessa is not like that, besides I myself bought that dress and more for her." Ronaldo said.

"What! Are you insane, how you can send so much on that ugly girl, I'm sure she has used Africans charm you, that girl has bewitched you." Maria yelled

"Stop yelling, it's my money after all, you shouldn't care since it's not yours, I choose to do what I want with my own money, and just one more advice, if you don't want to get punished again, stay away from Vanessa." Ronaldo said calmly.

"I don't know what you see from that girl that I don't have, why can't you understand how much I loved you Ronaldo, even after you returned to Africa, I waited for you, I waited with your love in my heart, but now you are choosing that trash over me, why Ronaldo." Maria started crying.

He gave her a tissue then sat on the table.

"Maria, I didn't choose Vanessa over you, you just don't understand, I have said it again and I will say it again, I don't love you, not because you are not preety, of course you are beautiful, but I can't feel anything for you, secondly there is something Vanessa has that you don't, example, she is kind and simple and smart, you are smart too, but you are too rude, and proud and a bully, also a racist, and lastly, this should be the last time you will call Vanessa any silly name, I won't tolerate it anymore." Ronaldo exclaimed.

She nod and left the office.

Vanessa faced the computer working her ass out on some files, Maria barged into her office again.

"Do you need something?" Vanessa asked boldy.

"I need you to disapper and never return."

Maria yelled.

"Unfortunately, that can only happen in your dreams, but in reality, I'm here to stay." Vanessa said.

"How dare you talk back at me you piece of trash, ugly thing, Ronaldo won't ever settle for a monkey looking girl like you, you are disgusting, irritating and...."

"You can call me whatever name you want, but you know what, I'm not a trash, because I love myself, I'm beautiful even if you see me as ugly, yes I'm black, and I'm proud of it, if there is someone who is disgusting, then it's your ugly character, do you know why Ronaldo will never love you? It's because of your disgusting character and please as you can see, I'm busy, you can excuse me." Vanessa cut her off.

Maria face burn in anger, she looks so red and the fact that Vanessa doesn't care about her threat is what made hee even more angry.

"Keep this in mind, I will prove it to Ronaldo and everyone here that you are nothing but a theif, you just came but look at the designer clothes you are wearing, so expensive and you stole that from Ronaldo, I'm sure of it, people like you are so desperate for money, that's why you choose Ronaldo as your target, but I will expose you in front of everyone and I can't wait for Ronaldo to throw you out of this place and his life forever."

Maria said.

Those words hurt Vanessa but she knew she won't let Maria succeed in making her angry.

"Not everyone is as desperate as you are Maria, money and everything Ronaldo has, I don't care about it, and he knows that, I'm not telling you this because I want you to believe me, but because I want you to know that if you love Ronaldo because of his money that doesn't mean I will be with him because of his money or even any other girls, we are all different, not all girls have eyes on money, and lastly, get ready to see me wear more of this clothes, because Ronaldo bought them for me a lot, now if you don't mind, you can leave my office, I have work to finish." Vanessa exclaimed.

"You won't get away with this." Maria said and left the office angrily.

Sarah entered immediately.

"Girl you nailed it, I can't believe you actually did talk back at her, I will be so scared to death." Sarah said.

"Ronaldo was right, I need to be brave to be able to stand up for myself, why will you be scared to death by the way? She doesn't look scary." Vanessa asked.

"She might not look scary but her heart is scary, pure evil, you don't know what Maria is capable of doing, I even heard some rumors about her been in a secret Mafia group, that's why everyone that enters her way either disapper or resign forever, she is a witch." Sarah answered.

Vanessa sighed and hold her head.

"What if it's true, does it mean I'm also in trouble and my life will get worst than good?" Vanessa asked herself but it came out loud.

"I don't get it." Sarah said.

"Get what?" Vanessa asked.

"About your life getting worst than better."

Sarah answered.

"You sure I said that?" Vanessa asked.

"I'm so sure." Sarah replied.

"Sorry, that was a slip of tongue, don't mind it." Vanessa said.

"Are you sure you fine?" Sarah asked.

"Yes thanks, I will continue working if you don't mind." Vanessa replied.

"Sure, see you at lunch." Sarah said and walked out of the office.

"I'm sorry Sarah, I can't let you know of my situation and the reason why I left my country for London." Vanessa said and closed the laptop, the rumor of Maria been in a Mafia gang freaked her out and she became restless.



**Mozambique**

Diego visited Fredrick since he haven't visited him for a while.

He was Seating at the seating to and Fredrick joined him.

"Good day man." Diego said but Fredrick didn't smile at him as usual.

"Have I done something to you?" Diego asked.

"Nothing." Fredrick replied.

"Okay, I just thought it has been long and there is this new business that I want you to invest, it will yield a high return of profit." Diego exclaimed.

"Thanks for telling me, but I'm not interested, you know why?. because I don't want to continue working with selfish man like you, you cared about nothing than what will benefit you and what you want to acheive, other than that, you don't care about anything else, not even I myself, you are informing me about this business because you knew you will get something from me in return not because you cared about me." Fredrick said.

"Why are you thinking so negatively, I thought we trust each other." Diego asked.

"We used to trust each other, and have you forgotten the Mafia's quote? Trust no one, not even you, especially that you showed me clearly that you don't trust me and my brother." Fredrick answered.

"You told me to stop the investigation and I did, I even stopped doubting Ronaldo." Diego said.

"Its a lie, you will be Surprise how I find out, but just yesterday you tracked Ronaldo's location to be sure of who he is staying with or if he is hiding the witness, you think I won't find out right, well, I don't care, I don't want to do business with you, after all killing Robert was your idea." Fredrick replied.

"I can't believe you are saying this to me, but I care about you, and I'm sorry for everything, I just cared about your reputation and mine, that's why I'm still looking for that girl, and for Ronaldo, I don't want his life to be in danger, if Anthony finds out that Ronaldo was hiding The witness all this while, then he won't spare him, so you see, I only did everything because I cared about you, but I'm sorry." Diego lied.

Fredrick agreed.

"I hope that Diego." Fredrick said and they Hugged.

Diego Smirked.

"If you think I'm apologizing because I love you or your dumb brother then you must be stupid, I'm still benefiting from you so I won't loser you so soon, but everything has time, and I won't stop searching for that girl, I will kill your darling brother if I find out he has been keeping her away from me." Diego said evilly and scratched his bear.

They disengage from the hug.

"So what about the new business, are you in? You won't regret it I promise." Diego asked.

"I think I'm in, tell me more about it." Fredrick said.

"Fool!" Diego said in his mind smiling at Fredrick.

He showed him some of the drugs samples they will be supplying and weapons, of course that's the only business Mafia's do.



**London**

**The company**

Ronaldo met Vanessa at her office during lunch and he saw her moodless, he doesn't need anyone to tell him that Maria has something to do with this.

"Hey Vanessa, are you alright?" He asked.

"I am, just stressed out." Vanessa lied.

"You are hiding something from me aren't you?" He asked.

"Nothing." Vanessa replied.

He didn't want to persuade her since she isn't in the mood to tell him.

"Okay, let's go have lunch." Ronaldo said.

"I'm not hungry, just go alone." Vanessa replied.

"But you haven't eaten anything." Ronaldo said worriedly.

"I will be fine, just go have some food please." Vanessa said and faced the computer.

He knew something was wrong somewhere.

He agreed and left her office.
