Chapter 59


Vanessa was sitting in the living room deeply in thought, she had a flashback to when she was able to walk freely and not in hiding. She regretted being at the scene of Robert Holland's death.

"I wish I was not there on that day when Diego and Fredrick murdered their father" Vanessa said to herself.

She remembered when she was almost killed by some thugs who Ronaldo later told her were the assassins Fredrick hired to kill her. At this point Vanessa was tired of staying in hiding but she didn't have the courage to go outside because she knew she was going to get herself killed if she did so.

"I can't wait to get my freedom back, I miss my little stroll from my house to the park, the smell of delicious food and I also miss walking like a free bird without the fear of being kill by some thugs or hired assassins" Vanessa said to herself as she walked towards the window and opened the cotton in the living room to have a quick view of the environment.

Vanessa remembered that the house was built in a very lonely place so there was nothing interesting to view through the windows except the cool fresh breeze that passed through the windows and made the cotton fly in the air for a while before it came down as she opened it. She was so disappointed because of this so she immediately closed the cotton and went back to where she was sitting.

"There is just nothing good about this place. No good view, no neighbor! It has nothing!" Vanessa yelled, still talking to herself.

She was silent for a while as she looked around and then continued

"I miss me so much" she said to herself as she was about to cry in a sad tone.

Vanessa tried holding back her tears but it wasn't working, soon after the tears welled down even more as she imagined so many things.

"I wish I could whine back times, I am so tired of staying in hiding" Vanessa said to herself as she used her hand to wipe off little drops of tears that laid on her cheeks

Vanessa kept on thinking what could have happened to her if Ronaldo did come through for her. She also thought of what she would be doing with her life now if she wasn't at the scene of the death on that very day.

There was a knock at the door but Vanessa was so deep in thought that she could hear the bang at the door.

"Vanessa, is anything wrong?" Ronaldo asked Vanessa, placing his hand on her shoulder.

Vanessa, who was so deep in thought, jumped on from the chair she was sitting on and turned to see who the person was when she felt the hand on her shoulder.

"Ohh! It you Ronaldo, you scared me" she said in relief when she realized it was Ronaldo that touched her.

"Yes I am the one I have been knocking at the door for a while now but there was no response so I had to look for the spare key we key at the entrance so I could enter" Ronaldo said to Vanessa.

Vanessa was so surprised when she heard him say he had been knocking at the door for a while because she didn't hear anything or notice the knock at the door due to the deep thought she was having.

"I am so sorry for that Ronaldo, I was…" she begged Ronaldo before he stopped her from talking.

"It's okay , I understand," he said to her in a calm tone.

Vanessa was happy Ronaldo wasn't offended by that
so she gave him a smile which Ronaldo reciprocated.

" I will be going upstairs to my room to have a warm shower before coming downstairs to have dinner," Ronaldo told Vanessa.

"Okay Ronaldo, I already prepared dinner. I will just heat it up and serve it before you get down" Vanessa said to Ronaldo in an assuring tone.

Ronaldo nodded his head and gave Vanessa a big smile as he climbed the stairs leading to his room. When Ronaldo got to his room he was so surprised to see that the room was well arranged with his clothes well placed in his wardrobe. He remembered when leaving the house earlier today he had disorganized the whole room while looking for a file and his wardrobe was a total mess because he was also looking for the key to the drawer where the file was. He had to remove most of his clothes from the hanger and scattered them round the room while looking for the keys. And when he eventually saw the keys at one corner of the wardrobe which he presumed fell from one of his trousers, he was almost late to where he was going so he left the room messed up like that and promised himself to do it when he gets back

"This must be Vanessa's doing" he said to himself as he ran outside of his room

"Vanessa! Thanks for arranging my room for me" Ronaldo shouted from the corridor.

Vanessa, who was in the kitchen trying to heat the food she had already prepared earlier in the microwave when she heard Ronaldo call her name from the corridor,left what she was doing and went to answer him.

"You are welcome Ronaldo!" Vanessa replied to Ronaldo in a loud tone because he was far from her and she wanted him to hear her.

Ronaldo went back to his room to pull his clothes and have his warm shower while Vanessa went back to the kitchen and continued with what she was doing before Ronaldo called for her.

Before Ronaldo went into the shower, he opened his phone and placed a cool and solemn music which he felt will make him more relaxed while he has his shower. The song he played was so calm and the lyrics were hitting, the song made him remember his father and his brother Fredrick. He really missed having a good time with both of them. He took a longer time in the bathroom than he normally does because of the type of music he played on his phone and the memories of him, his brother Fredrick and his father kept on flashing in his mind.

After spending much time in the shower Ronaldo came out and cleaned his body with the towel that was on his hand. He went to his closet, picked up one of his nightwear and wore it.

"Ta ta ta la la oh oh" he sang as he wore his nightwear jumping from one angle of the room to the other.

Vanessa was done dishing the food and was about to take it to the dining table when she mistakenly spilled a few drops of water on the floor. She ignored the water on the floor for the main time and went ahead to serve the food on the dining table.

"Ronaldo, come downstairs, the food is ready!" Vanessa shouted immediately she was done serving the food.

Ronaldo, who was really famished, rushed down immediately to have his dinner.

"Thanks again for helping me arrange the room, '' Ronaldo said to Vanessa when he met her, already sitting on the dining table waiting for him to come.

Vanessa didn't reply to him with words, instead she gave him a smile which he reciprocated. They both had dinner maintaining good table manners. When both Ronaldo and Vanessa were done eating, Ronaldo began to tell her how his day went.

"And yes before I forget, earlier today one of Anthony's boys called me and told me to come back home with you that something serious came up and you and I need to be present" Ronaldo said to Vanessa.

Vanessa became tensed as she heard him call Anthony

"How was he able to get your number? What if they track us using your phone number? Why did you ever pick the call in the first place? I thought we agreed on no picking of strange calls?" Vanessa asked with tension as she stood up from her chair wandering round.

The questions where too much for Ronaldo and he didn't even know where to start from,

"You ask to many questions Vanessa, I told you to trust me nothing will to you with me by your side" Ronaldo assured Vanessa in a calm tone

After hearing what Ronaldo said Vanessa was a little bit calm but not convinced enough to believe that they wouldn't come after them.

"I know you and I trust you, but what if they end up killing the both of us?" Vanessa asked with so much seriousness on her face.

Ronaldo knew that there was nothing he would say that would convince Vanessa at that moment so he decided to turn the story.

"I said he called me and I picked but you didn't wait to hear the rest of the story. As soon as he was doing talking and I ended the call I contacted a genius tracker and told him to keep a close eye on the my phone device and that he should notify me if anyone tries to track me" Ronaldo lied

"Really so with the help of the genius hacker no one would be able to track us down. Right?" Vanessa asked Ronaldo.

"Yes Vanessa no one will" Ronaldo replied Vanessa.

This was more convincing enough for Vanessa so she decided to take the dishes back to the kitchen so that she could wash them, while Ronaldo went back upstairs to pick up his phone which he had left while running downstairs to have his dinner.

Ronaldo was on his way downstairs when he heard Vanessa scream, ran to where she was immediately and saw Vanessa lying on the wet floor crying for help. The drops of water which Vanessa spilled on the floor were already circulating round the kitchen and she didn't realize it. She saw a few splashes of water on the floor so she quickly went to get a mop. As she was going to get a mop so that she could clean the water, she slipped and fell down.

Ronaldo saw her crying for help so he carried her from the floor where she fell and took her to the living room where he laid her on one of the chairs over there

"Sorry dear I will go and get an ointment from my room so I can apply it on you" Ronaldo said to Vanessa as he ran upstairs to his room to get the ointment for her to apply.

Ronaldo was very fast in bringing the ointment from his room, he rushed down immediately and went to meet Vanessa who was still crying for help.

"Sorry Vanessa, I can imagine what pain you are going through now but, I can assure that if you add the ointment on the twisted angle it will relieve you a bit and by tomorrow you won't feel any pain" Ronaldo assured Vanessa while opening the ointment.

Vanessa didn't reply to him, she was still crying, laying down the same way Ronaldo placed her. Ronaldo was about to apply the ointment on the twisted part so he asked her where she felt the pain.

"Where exactly dislocated and where do you feel the pains mostly?" Ronaldo asked Vanessa.

Vanessa was finding it really hard to talk because the pain was becoming unbearable for her.

"I don't think I dislocated any part of my body but I feel pains around my body especially my waist" Vanessa replied Ronaldo as she held her waist.

"Okay I think I will…hmmm…" Ronaldo stammered as he tried raising Vanessa's top up so he could apply the ointment on it.

When Vanessa noticed that he was going to apply it on her waist she told him to give it to her so that she would apply it herself, Ronaldo did. She raised her top up a little bit and applied the ointment by herself.

'Thanks Ronaldo" Vanessa said when she was done applying the ointment on her waist and handed the ointment back to Ronaldo.
