Chapter 43



Diego realized he was suddenly becoming emotional and it's not good for the kind of person he is and what he does. He immediately switches his thoughts from Ethan to Ronaldo who is still pretending to search for Vanessa (the witness).


He remembered he sent some secret agents to search for Ronaldo and since that day they have not reported back.

Diego realized the search was getting really slow and they are not reporting back what they have gotten from the search.


Diego picked up his phone and decided to call them on the phone to see how the search is going since they have refused to call him.


'Good day boss." The head of the search said to Diego the moment he picked the call. Diego was quiet and the boy could tell why Diego was quiet.


'We are sorry for not reporting your boss, but we have been searching everywhere. We went to where they were living but they were no longer there.


'Boss." One of the bodyguards walked In with a tab. Diego was shocked to see the pictures and videos that the bodyguard came to show him.


'What nonsense." Diego said angrily. The person he was in the phone call with was wondering what he had said wrong that made Diego say such a thing.


'I'm sorry boss." The person apologized immediately, it was then Diego remembered he was on a phone call with one of them before the guy with the tab walked in.


'You don't need to be sorry. I can see you all are exploring over there, instead of carrying out your duties. No wonder it's taking you forever to find a small boy." Diego scolded angrily.


The videos and pictures that were shown to him are pictures and videos of the guys he sent to search for Ronaldo are busy exploring in London and are not doing anything to search for Ronaldo and the witness.


Ronaldo was already getting tired of keeping the truth from his brother and pretending to be looking for Vanessa.


He sat in his room and started thinking that what he is doing is actually necessary because he cannot hide her for too long. But the only thing that feared him is that they will definitely look for a way to kill Vanessa because she knows the truth.


'Why was she there that day?' Ronaldo asked himself and put his hand on his head as he was thinking what should be their next step because they cannot remain like this forever.


'I really need to think of something very fast." Ronaldo said to himself with his hand still placed on his head as he was trying to think.


Vanessa walked into the room and was shocked to see him sitting the way he was sitting and he looked like he was in deep thought.


'Are you okay?" Vanessa sat on the couch. Ronaldo did not notice her presence in the room so he did not hear what she asked him.


'Ronaldo." Sue tried calling his name but Ronaldo was still not responding. Vanessa started wondering what must have happened to make him be in such deep thoughts.


'Ronaldo." Vanessa called his name louder this time and touched him. Ronaldo was shocked to prove that he was in a real deep thought earlier.


Vanessa was surprised to see this as she became worried as she thought of the reason why he will be in such deep thought.


'What's going on? Is there something I need to know?" Vanessa asked him, sounding worried. Ronaldo was just staring at her unable to say anything as he was thinking of how to direct the whole thing that'll make her understand what is bothering him.


After looking at her for a while he looked away. She was wondering why he is suddenly acting in such a way as it looks like he doesn't want to tell her about it.


'Are you tired of having me around you?" Vanessa asked Ronaldo, sounding angry. Ronaldo realized things might get worse if he tells her what is bothering him.


'Why will you even think I don't want you around me?" Ronaldo asked Vanessa, sounding a little frustrated already, especially after hearing what she said.


Vanessa turned to the other side of the room avoiding his face because she was upset with him. Ronaldo knew she was upset but he felt her words were too far.


'You are making it look so. Yesterday I noticed your attitude changed, it looked like you were avoiding me." Vanessa folded her hand and complained. Ronaldo did not notice he acted that way yesterday.


He stood up and walked closer to her. He tried holding her hand but she pushed his hands away. He knew she was angry so he did not take it personally.


'I am not tired of having you around me, I promise." Ronaldo tried to convince her, but Vanessa still looked very angry with Ronaldo, she folded her hand and made it obvious to Ronaldo that she is still very angry with him.


Ronaldo tried tickling her to make her smile but she fought not to smile until it finally became inevitable. She finally smiled. The moment she smiled she unfolded her hands.


'I know you'll never do such a thing but I just thought you have suddenly changed your mind because I was trying to talk to you yesterday but you were not responding well. And when I even came in now you did not look at me nor did you reply to me. Please tell me what's going on?" Vanessa said to Ronaldo and touched his face.


Ronaldo sighed when he heard what she said. He looked at her and sighed again, through his reaction she could tell that he was finding it hard to talk to her about it. Vanessa would have left him but she felt he needed someone to talk to about what it is.


'Okay, it's fine if you don't want to talk about it, but cheer up." Vanessa said to him when she noticed he was not ready to tell her what was bothering him. He nodded his head and smiled.


'I was thinking of how we are going to end this." Ronaldo finally broke it to Vanessa. She was shocked to hear what Ronaldo said to her.


'We have been in hiding for days now. It can't continue like this." Ronaldo explained further. Vanessa was relieved when she heard the other part, because she thought he was thinking of telling her to go away.


She sat properly because she had also thought about it before and was wondering what they are going to do if the search doesn't end.


She looked at Ronaldo, she knew he has done a lot for her already but it's not time for him to leave her as this is the time she needs him the most.


'I have also thought about it." Vanessa said to Ronaldo in a very low tone, Ronaldo turned to look at her when he heard what she said. He saw how sad she suddenly looked when the topic was brought up.


'I think we need to come up with something, remember Fredrick called a few days ago, there must be something going on there that made him call." Ronaldo explained to Vanessa, she nodded her head while looking at him.


Vanessa was suddenly scared again as she thought of them finding her and ending up killing her. Ronaldo has been with her since the first day it all started and she is grateful but she is not ready for him to leave her, especially now that she has fallen really deeply in love with him.


'Please don't leave me." Vanessa said to Ronaldo and held his hand, she was shocked the words came out of her mouth so confidently but maybe it's because she has kept it in her for a long time trying not to tell Ronaldo about it.


Ronaldo was shocked to hear what Vanessa said to him, because he is the one that always tells her not to leave him but this time she told him not to leave her. It's something Ronaldo would have loved to record so that he can keep playing it on repeat.


'I am not going to leave you, we have gone this far together. I'm not going to leave you now." Ronaldo assured her, Ronaldo smiled and Vanessa smiled back, the both of them were staring at each other while smiling. It was slowly getting tense as they were moving their heads close to each other.


Vanessa was not sure if she wanted to do it but she knew she would not regret it if she did it. Ronaldo has been staring at the thing with her hair. He was wondering if it'll be okay if he helps her remove it but it didn't fit her so he thought of helping her remove it.


Vanessa closed her eyes when Ronaldo's face and hers were very close as ready to kiss. Ronaldo helped her remove the thing on her hair. He looked at her and was wondering why she had her eyes shut.


Meanwhile, Vanessa was wondering what's taking Ronaldo long to lock lips with hers.


'Are you okay?" Ronaldo asked her lovingly while holding what he removed from her hair.


Vanessa was shocked and embarrassed at the same time When she heard the question Ronaldo asked her. She started rubbing her eyes with her hand and while doing that she was able to walk out of the room.


Ronaldo was still seated on the couch wondering why she closed her eyes and suddenly started rubbing it before leaving.


'Is she okay?" Ronaldo asked himself the moment Vanessa closed the door. Vanessa walked into the kitchen and stopped rubbing her eyes.


'I'm so stupid." She cursed. She remembered the expression on his face when she opened her eyes, he just thought I'm going crazy.


She was feeling very embarrassed for closing her eyes thinking that Ronaldo was going to kiss her.


Ronaldo walked into the kitchen unknowing to her, she was still hitting her hand on her head thinking Ronaldo was going to kiss her.


'Why are you hurting yourself?" The moment Vanessa heard Ronaldo's voice she started pretending like she was doing something in the kitchen.


'Why did you walk in without telling me? You startled me." Vanessa complained and brought out a cup. She realized she had no reason to bring out the cup so she dropped it back on the shelf where she took it from.


'Are you sure you are okay?" Ronaldo asked Vanessa when he saw the way she was behaving. She turned to look at him, then she walked away from the kitchen and immediately Ronaldo followed behind.


While Vanessa was walking to the sitting room she kept hating herself for what she did a few minutes ago.


She sat down on the couch and turned on the television. Ronaldo was wondering why she has been acting very weird. He tried talking to her but she was using different things to cover his question, and she is acting very clumsy.


'Are you sure you're okay, Vanessa?" Ronaldo asked her, she turned to look at him and immediately faked a smile.


'Of course yes I am." She replied to him and turned to continue watching the movie. Ronaldo could tell that she is just saying she's okay, but she is definitely not judging from her behavior.


Ronaldo couldn't stop staring at her because he was finding it hard to believe that she is okay. He tried touching her but she kept smiling weirdly, and it made him wonder if she is really okay as she claims to be.


'I don't think she is okay." Ronaldo said to himself while looking at her. Vanessa could tell Ronaldo was staring at her. She was also wondering why she is behaving crazy.


'He must really think I'm crazy right now." Vanessa said to herself and turned to look at Ronaldo she found him also staring at her and immediately she looked away.
