Chapter 60



Anthony was sitting in his bedroom, He just got back home from work so he decided to take a cold shower when he heard a knock at the door

"Who is dear I am coming" Anthony said.

When he got there and opened the door he realized it was one of his boys.

"Good day Mr Anthony" the boy greeted Anthony.

"Welcome, hope there is no problem?" Anthony asked the boy.

"No Sir Anthony" the boy answered.

Anthony knew who the boy was, he assigned about six of them to carry out specific tasks but he couldn't remember what this particular boy's task was.

"So, why are you here?" He asked the boy

"Sir, earlier today you asked me to search for Mr Ronaldo's number and call him* the boy replied Anthony with his head bowled.

"Yes! Where are you able to get the number?" Anthony asked the boy with a serious look on his face in a loud and clear voice.

"Yes Sir, I called him as soon as I got his numbers, and I passed your message across to him but he didn't seem to believe me, instead he said I wanted to trick him and Vanessa and lure the both of them back home so Fredrick and Diego could kill them. Sir I tried convincing him but he ended up ending the call on me" he answered Anthony.

Anthony was happy to hear that the boy was able to get Ronaldo's number.

"Nice one, now you are going to get the best tracker and tell him to use Ronaldo's number to track his number to track where he and Vanessa are staying" Anthony told the boy.

The boy heard him, stood up and immediately went to action.

Vanessa was in the sitting room relaxing when she heard the doorbell ring, so she quickly stood up and went to check who it was that was ringing the bell. She didn't say a word on her way to check who it was, instead she even tip toe.

When Vanessa got to the door she peeped through the hole in the door. She checked and noticed no one was there so she opened the door and checked round but she still didn't see anybody.

"What wrong with me, am I suddenly hearing things, I clearly heard the bell ring" she said to herself as she checked round to see if anyone would pop out.

"How did I even think someone was at the door when I know it's impossible, this place is very quiet and lonely no one will locate us from here" she said to herself as she was returning back inside.

She was about to enter inside when she saw a white envelope hanging on the holder of the door.

"What is this?" She asked herself in a very low tone like she was murmuring.

As she went to check what it was.

" An envelope? What exactly could be inside may be a letter, for Ronaldo or maybe it's even money or…"Vanessa said as she threw the envelope on the floor.

"Oh no, what if it's a bomb or even a tracking device" she continued.

She took her time to check well, then she realized it was just an envelope and in it was a letter.

"This is definitely going to be for Ronaldo" she said to herself as she went back inside with the envelope, hitting in her hand making a low-key noise.

Vanessa got inside and sat exactly on the chair where she was staying before going out and dropped the envelope very close to herself waiting for Ronaldo to come back so she could give it to him.

Few hours later Ronaldo got back from work, he met Vanessa in the pallor, and she welcomed him back home. As he was about to head to his room to take his shower and change his clothes, Vanessa stopped him.

"Earlier today someone came by the house, but I didn't know who it was because I didn't get to see the person. But the person dropped something at the door. Here it is" Vanessa said to Ronaldo, handing over the envelope to him.

Ronaldo collected the envelope from Vanessa and opened it.

"It's a letter," Ronaldo said, giving a relief sign.

"Okay. From who?" Vanessa asked Ronaldo.

Ronaldo turned to the back of the letter to know who it came from.

"It's from Anthony" he replied to Vanessa after checking who sent it

Immediately Ronaldo mentioned Anthony, Vanessa became scared.

"Anthony? I thought you said you already hired the best tracker to watch your device and make sure nobody tracked it, so what exactly is happening?". Vanessa asked, looking so confused.

"I am sorry I lied to you but Anthony is not a beast like the way you presume" Ronaldo said to her looking her in the eyes and holding her hands.

Vanessa was so angry with Ronaldo at that point that everything he said was just so annoying to her.

"You are putting my life on the line, hope you know about that" Vanessa said to Ronaldo, removing her hands from his and also looking away from him.

Ronaldo was about to say a something when Vanessa stopped him and said

" You know what, just go ahead and read the letter and know what exactly it entails" in an angry tone.

Ronaldo didn't know what to go any further on the issues because Vanessa already said he should go ahead and read the letter, he knew that if he should say anything else it would get Vanessa really furious so he went ahead and read the letter.

In the letter that was sent, Anthony stated what happened, he said that Fredrick and Diego were already dead and that they should return home without fear because there will be no witnesses anymore.

In the letter he said Fredrick killed Diego, when he realized Diego was only using for his own selfish interest. Fredrick got to know that Robert Holland never killed his father, instead he was killed by Diego, because Diego wanted to be the leader of the Mafia World at all cost. Diego knew that Fredrick would want justice for his father's death so he decided to frame Robert Holland up and instigated Fredrick to kill the innocent man.

When Ronaldo was done reading the letter he was so speechless and very emotional. There was a few seconds of silence in the house, they were both in deep thought. Vanessa felt so sorry for him when she heard that his brother Fredrick was dead, because she knew exactly how it felt to have nobody to call a family.

"Sorry for your loss Ronaldo" Vanessa said to him in a low and sad tone as she gave him a hug.

Ronaldo tried not to cry but he couldn't hold it anymore when Vanessa gave him a hug. Tears welled down his eyes even

He couldn't believe his only brother was gone just like that. It's not even up to five months since they lost their dad and not another person just left. Ronaldo felt bad about both of them dying because they died doing the same job.


'Ronaldo, you need to calm down, they are resting now." Vanessa said to Ronaldo trying to calm him down. Ronaldo turned to look at Vanessa when he heard what she said.


He could, I believe she just said resting because he believes there is no way they will be resting after all the horrible things they did to innocent humans.


'Did you hear how my brother was killed? He was beaten by thugs to death." Ronaldo said to Vanessa , sounding pained and sad. Vanessa realized what Ronaldo is saying is true. There is no way his brother will be happy wherever he is.


'His body was thrown into the compound like trash." Ronaldo said again. Vanessa could feel the pain in his voice if he was evil he would have definitely taken revenge for his brother.


Tears welled down Vanessa's eyes when she saw the way Ronaldo was crying while talking. She has never seen him like this before and for the first time she is seeing him in such a state.


She moved closer to him very well and rested her head on his shoulder.


'I understand how you feel. You'll be fine." Vanessa said to him and raised her head from his shoulder. It was supposed to be good news that she is finally free but it turned into bad news because of the death of Fredrick.


'I always warned him to stay away from Diego but he didn't listen to me, look at how the bastard deceived him into killing Robert meanwhile he is the killer of my father." Vanessa was not aware of this part of the story. She opened her eyes wider than usual to the fact that the man that was killed that night is an innocent man.


She couldn't believe Diego can be so evil, he did all this to get power and now where has it landed him.


'He killed an innocent man too." Vanessa said almost aloud and Ronaldo turned to look at her and nodded his head.


'Don't worry I'm sure they'll be forgiven and rest peacefully no matter how they lived their lives on earth or how they died.


Ronaldo was trying to be a man but the death was just too sudden to him. He never saw it coming. He was hoping one day his brother would come back to his senses and quit the whole mafia thing to live a comfortable life and have a family.


'He died without a family." It was very sad to Vanessa the fact that he didn't even have a wife and kids before he died.


Ronaldo had to quit work and think of how to return back to the country. He got a phone call from his aunt and she didn't sound okay. Sue had a high blood pressure when his father died so he doesn't know how she will be feeling now that her favorite nephew is gone.


Ronaldo assured her that he'll be back home very soon. He was sorting out everything fast so that he could head back home.


Their lives in London are slowly becoming boring; they hardly talk in the house. Ronaldo barely smiled, he was working on their papers to travel back home.


Vanessa was hoping that very soon things will go back to the way they used to be because this is not the Ronaldo she knows.


While they were dining , Ronaldo received a phone call and without saying anything to Vanessa he left the house.


Vanessa didn't get angry at his behavior because she knows he is struggling to accept reality.

Ronaldo got back home with two tickets called Vanessa to join him in the sitting room. Immediately Vanessa joined him in the sitting room and she noticed he was with two tickets.

'I can see our tickets are ready," Vanessa said to Ronaldo, smiling.

'Yes Vanessa, our tickets are ready and we leave in two day time" Ronaldo replied Vanessa.

'So we have to start packing our bags and get ready for the long journey," Vanessa said to Ronaldo.

'Yes," Ronaldo said to Vanessa, sounding depressed.

'What is it? Why do you sound like you are not happy? Vanessa asked Ronaldo.

'Is there anything to be happy about? Of course I am not happy" Ronaldo replied Vanessa.

'Ronaldo stop hurting your self Fredrick is gone and gone for good he can never come back and I am very sure he wants you to keep hurting yourself like you are doing right now" Vanessa said to Ronaldo trying to comfort him.

'I know Vanessa but it's not easy for me to just forget him like that, this is the first time I don't feel like going home at all" Ronaldo said, still sounding depressed.

'I know it's not easy but you have to try," Vanessa advises Ronaldo.

'I am trying Vanessa," Ronaldo said as he drew Vanessa closer and gave her a tight hug.
