"I don't care how hard you have worked,I'm just not going to give up this position for you!" she shouted, facing down. She turned slowly and sat down on her feet .
She was acting as if something entered her eyes and it worked because Rowan thought exactly that!.

"I won't let you take what I've worked so hard to get"he said taking some steps backwards.

"Let's wait Mr Rowan and see who comes out victorious"she said and haves her seat after she had calm herself down.

"I didn't come here to not agree on something" Rowan said, crossing his legs.

"Well you're not acting like you're ready to negotiate." Sapphire muttered and rolled her eyes. She was already calm and she was back to her cold self.
"Negotiate?" Rowan was surprised to hear that word from her and he felt like laughing hard .
" you're the one not ready to negotiate,I'm just trying to look out for you..
You are a woman, you should focus on getting a home and bearing children for your man not trying to get a position you can't handle"he said resting his hand on the table. He was really in to tease her. He hated the word himself... he hated when someone cut women off in the society but he loved to tease Sapphire with it and her reaction always amused him.

"If at all I want to step down,I won't for you because I need to change your narrow mentality towards ladies"?she said and took her bag and walked out of the office..

Rowan stared at her retreating back for a while before he chuckled. " Its fun to have you around, Miss Sapphire." He mumbled to himself with a sweet smile.

Rowan was sitting in the VIP lounge alongside Ray,his buddy. They don't have work to do today so they had all the day to play and at night, they would both have the women they wanted.

"What the hell man! I can't just stop thinking about that jerk! He has so much gut that is giving me the thrills!." Ray muttered with excitement as he gulped down his glass of wine.


The two were at a bar they would usually attend once in a blue moon when they had the chance to. They were both VIPs there and they were highly repected mostly because they both had the biggest share in the big hotel..

Rowan wasn't in the mood to talk about that jerk as all he could think about was how to defeat him and make the man kneel in front of him, begging for mercy.

He wanted to enjoy himself today and face the real deal tomorrow. He was going to attack back and his attack would be one that would shock the jerk!.
His eyes darted back and forth across the lounge as he suddenly felt like Sapphire was in the room but she was nowhere to be found and he chuckled at his own action.

" Why am I thinking about her right now?" He asked himself inwardly and smiled.

"A glass of brandy, please!"" He requested and turned toward Ray who nodded at him.
" Two please!" He requested again and the waitress replied.

It was served to them in minutes and they both sipped it.

'Sapphire..' She was a fun being and someone he was growing likeness for. He saw her as someone very tender that he wanted to protect and see smiling all the time... but why?

" Wait! Are you thinking about Sapphire right now?" Ray asked him with a raised brow.
Rowan turned to him and smiled.

Just then, a lady walked up to Rowan,
She was putting on Avery short black gown and her makeup was more than required but she was still beautiful.

She walked sedately towards Rowan with her hands at her side like a seductive queen.
"Hey handsome!"she said rubbing her hand on Rowan's back seductively.

Rowan was puzzled for a while before he turned around and looked at her with his eyes full of disgust. It was so strange to him and irritating that he felt like he was going to kill someone.

What he hated the most in his life was unwanted ladies throwing themselves at him and it disgust him when they had the gut to even touch him!.

"Who the hell are you?"Rowan said, jerking her hand off his body. He looked around to see where the securities were and that was when he remembered that he always sent them away whenever he visited the VIP so that he could have a secured and relaxing conversations with his friends.

"Calm down little devil, I'm just trying to be your friend"she said bending purposely so as to expose her breasts .

But instead Rowan pushed her off
"Get off me!t"he said pushing her hand away.

" Why are you so stoic?" The lady asked coyly as she walked a little closer to him. She was so dumb that she didn't realize how much danger she was with what she was doing.

Ray, who had been laughing all this while decided it was time to interfere and he immediately sent a quick Message to the body guards.

" Take her away and lock her up for two days!" Ray commanded the men and they took the lady away.

Rowan scoffed and continued with his drink. Unknowing to him that he just got another star from someone who was looking at her from a far.

" He is such a sweet man!" Sapphire mumbled to herself and smiled sweetly! She had tensed her hand when she saw the lady walking up to him and she was glad when she saw the way Rowan had treated her. She would have taught the girl some lesson if she wasn't taken away!.

" some girls are so dumb and definitely don't know who to mess with and who not to." Rowan muttered with coldness in his voice.

" Really!"Ray agreed!

Rowan was disgusted by all that happened with that lady and he no longer had the urge to stay in the hotel bar any longer.

the girl was filthy... How dare she touch him?!

However, he knew he had to calm down and not let the lady spoil his good mood.
What if the whole thing was planned by Sapphire?" He thought but then he thought against it.
Sapphire was never like that and she had nothing to win from a petty thing like this.


"Make sure the bills are settled... I need to get get home. My head is aching." He told Ray as he dropped the glass in his hand.

He stood up from his seat and made to walk out when Ray spoke up playfully.

"Are you drunk?" Ray asked with a playful smirk.

"Really?? Is that even a question or are you doubting my alcoholic tolerance?" Rowan retorted.

Without turning to look back at him, Rowan walked out of the bar.

Ray sighed after he left. He wanted to tease him so that he could sit down back and they could drink more but Rowan was so angry that his trick didn't work on him. He was always like that when silly ladies do things like this to him and Ray knew He needed to sort it out himself...

He couldn't help him out and he trusted that Rowan would overcome that weakness one day too.

" You're strong minded my dear friend and I'm sure you will soon get used to being touched by ladies like that very soon. Even sooner than I imagine..." He mumbled and chuckled.

Rowan knew he had to make the jerk step out one way or the other but he was still planning on that.

He told Ray to arrange a rendezvous with sapphire.
He intended to do everything possible to convince her to work with him so that they could both work together to capture the man p .However he knew this was almost impossible.
"Where should the location be, sir?"Ray asked while trying to make reservations.

"I don't know" Rowan replied nonchalant. Why should he care about where he was going to meet that big head?
"Maybe a five star hotel?" he asked while working on his laptop without battling an eye at Ray.

"Okay then, sir.it will be ready very soon. " Ray replied, turning to leave.

"Text me the location chosen when you do please!"" He said, finally raising his head to look at Ray for the first time during their conversation.

"We still haven't gotten information sir, it's way difficult than we thought I think we have an imposter because our every step is usually known so they cover up their tracks before we get any meaningful information"he said while at the door and Rowan sighed.

" Well... Keep trying okay, I must know their hide out in a week, okay?"he said calmly and returned to his laptop. He was truly busy and Ray understood that because he too had a lot to do and more to complete.

"We will, sir"Ray replied and left the office with the files hanging lazily in his hand.

"I need to find other ways to find the person behind this threats and at the same time, make sure he doesn't get Sapphire. I feel like I know where this is going to." He rested his chin on his hand and mumbled with his gaze fixed on a particular person on his laptop screen.

still looking at the picture, " I need a way to kill two birds with a single stone.
Whoever is doing this must be the best of the best for my men not to be able to track him down since all these while but he really do have a lot of guts to mess with me"he said and turned to the window but his hand already pressed something on his laptop and a smile crept on his face.

" If my men can't, I have one who will!" He mumbled.

Sapphire's villa...
Sapphire woke up the next morning with a lot of energy and many strategies on her mind for her victory. Her mind had gone through many ordeals through the night and she couldn't wait to deal with the stubborn jerk she was contesting with.


She wasn't going to step down for Rowan at least, to prove her point. She wasn't desperate about the conglomerate at first but Rowan reactions had made her very desperate and she would win at all cost!.

He was so wrong to belittle her and she was more than he can ever acknowledge but she knew she had to prove that to make him understand and she was ready to..

she was in love! Yes! She was truly in love with him but she wouldn't let that cloud her mind and make silly mistakes toward him. Love can be pushed aside for a while, while they face each other like real competitors and see who wins!.

While she was thinking of the perfect strategy to get the position from Rowan, someone knocked at her door.

"Who is it,I'm kind of busy right now!"she shouted as she picked her laptop from the table right beside her bed and faced it.

"Sorry to disturb you, Miss. But, there's a message for you!" The maid replied from outside the door.

Sapphire paused for a while but it was only for a short while before she continued with what she was doing. "From who?"she asked, still not wanting anyone or anything to disturb her. Old Lan was no longer with her and her new PA still needed some training before he could resume. So, she needed to do her planning herself for now.
Even though he looked so much like ab experienced person, Sapphire still could not risk it because her partner was no small fry!.

"Seems to be from a Mr Rowan" The maid said, checking the letter to see if she missed any details.

Sapphire was stunned for a while and her fingers that were pressing her laptop stopped! "Come in!"she muttered as she raised head, wondering why Rowan would send her a package.
