Chapter 133 - A voice from the light

** Ambrogios pov**

I didn’t open my eyes when I woke up. I lay and enjoyed the feeling in my body. I had united with Zandra in a way I had only dreamed of before..or barely dared to dream of. It wasn’t sex, not regular intercourse, or even a fuck. The feeling when I was inside her reached beyond the flesh. We had known each other on a soul level and the feeling was more than intoxicating. It was addictive, something I had to feel again and again, exactly the same way I had to keep breathing. I could feel her blood rushing through my veins, I could feel the power she spoke of. Her blood as a witch was empowering in itself. I had drunk witch blood before and knew that the magic in it only brought benefits. But it was also the blood of my mate and it was even more powerful. I felt how strong I was, both physically and mentally. All my senses were sharpened to the max and if I stood up now I could be on the other side of the mansion in a matter of seconds. That’s what her blood gave me and she willingly gave it to me, asking me to take it, the memory made me hard. But she wasn’t here. The feeling when I discovered it was like a cold shower. I could still taste her, smell her even, but her absence was a coldness that attacked me from all sides. I opened my eyes and sat up, the curtains were drawn from the window but the weather outside was overcast so it didn’t give much light. The door to Zandra’s room was wide open, gossiping that she wasn’t there either. I left the bed and went there. Her bed was made and untouched, her bag was gone. I went out into the corridor and saw one of my children standing further away, she was taking care of the plants by one of the large windows. A white azalea I think.
“Child!” The woman turned hastily when she heard my voice. She was a creation of one of the generals, it seemed. She was pale and shaky, her eyes sunken and the skin around them dark.
“Father!” She bowed and walked towards me without getting up.
“Stand up straight child!” My tone was as harsh as it was desperate. I didn’t like seeing them like this...they were supposed to be my creations, strong and proud...this was the complete opposite. The young woman did as she was told and I could see a very faint blush reach her cheeks as she looked at me, I stood in front of her completely naked with a semi hard cock.
“The woman who was here…the silver haired witch…do you know where she is?”
“Oh father, she has left us. May I tell you more?” Her question irritated me, or was it the answer she gave me? I turned and walked back into the room, gesturing for her to follow. I wrapped myself in a robe and sat down.
“Tell me, tell me everything you know.” I narrowed my eyes at her and even though I could feel her nervousness, she pushed her chest forward and gathered her courage.
“Madam Zandra spent time with us today…she made sure we didn’t wake you up, said you would need your strength. She is a very nice woman…” She rubbed her hands nervously.
“Go on child...”
“She talked to us a lot, wanted to meet as many as she could. Asked us about our lives, about the lives we had...before...” I could see the pain in her eyes and it surprised me. The bond to me should erase all ties to the past...or?...do my children still feel love and longing for their past lives? The thought left a bad taste in my mouth.
“Anyway, she was happy, nice, and we had a good day. She wanted us to tell you, she’ll see you on the battlefield tomorrow, she had some things to take care of.”
“What kind of things?”
“She didn’t say Father...”
“Thanks, you can go…” I watched as she hurried out of the room. I tried to interpret my feelings. Zandra had integrated with my children and they liked her, that was a good thing wasn’t it?...but why didn’t she do this with me? My thoughts were drawn to the woman who had left my room and I understood why. She wanted to meet them without my influence, without them cowering in my presence...my clever little witch. There was a loud knock on the door and before I could say anything Tony stormed in.
“Father!…He took a few deep breaths.
“Father, I think…I think she will wake up soon!”
I could feel my body, my whole being changing its attitude towards what was important. I would always love and protect Zandra with my life, I would always miss her when she wasn’t by my side or in my bed...but this pulled stronger, stronger than I had ever felt before. Not even Duncan had this pull on me.
“Ana?...”
“Yes, Ana Father, I have a strong feeling that she is starting to wake up!” All my cells were telling me he was right, I could feel it, my daughter was soon with me.
I dressed quickly and less than a minute later I was outside her door. I took a few deep breaths, I wanted to be with her, hold her in my arms, stroke her hair when she woke up, give her the blood she so badly needed. It would be a few days before she started drinking human blood, the only blood she could keep was mine, the blood of her creator. I opened the door and slowly stepped into the room. The light was still dim, and the curtains still heavy in front of the windows. Ana was not lying as I had left her. The sheets were wrinkled, which showed that she had moved around a lot. A thin layer of sweat covered her face and her neck. Her breathing was rapid, faster than normal, even during a turn. I rushed in and sat on the bed beside her. Her hand in mine felt thin and warm and I noted the small twitches in her flesh and skin. The muscle spasms in her arms and legs. It was almost as if her body was trying to refuse the transformation. I had seen it a few times before, never when I myself turned anyone but my generals. The host’s body refused the transformation and died. I was cold inside...what if that was the case? What if her body refused me, refused to be my daughter... I kept stroking her hair, bent down and kissed her forehead, murmured assurances that I would always be by her side, always protect her. Suddenly she relaxed, her whole body returning to the stage when I last saw her. Sleeping. I breathed out and relaxed, she probably wouldn’t wake up yet. With any luck I would have time to fight the fight tomorrow and return to her side to be here when she opened her eyes. I looked at her as she lay before me, a croupier, a nobody on her way home...what was so special about her? I got up and went to the window and opened it. The evening was young but twilight had made itself known. I looked up at the Big Sky. Stars had begun to reveal themselves on the increasingly darkening background.
“Father...my Father in heaven...Speak to me, I beg you! I have a mate, soon I have a true daughter...What do you want me to do? How do you want me to deserve your forgiveness? Please Father...tell me!” My voice cracked and I felt small in his presence...he was there, I could feel him...but he was as quiet as ever.
“Ambrogio…” His voice was within my very being. I don’t know if it was only me who could hear it, but when I looked around the room, both Ana and Tony were unmoved.
“Ambrogio...” There it was again...I turned to the window and looked out, at the sky and the bright stars. Against the shadows that found their way across my lands, and against the light that chased them away...My father…
He wasn’t a physical being, someone I could sit with and talk about the years gone by...no, he was light and a voice within me, it had always been that way.
“Father?...Are you there?”
“Yes, my son, I’m here…and I’m so proud of you!”
“Really? After everything I’ve done?
“I have never denied you your bloodline…however, I have not sided with you in the wars you chose to follow…I have watched you with pain in my heart for so long Ambrogio…my son….”
“And now? I’ve changed Father, you must have seen it!?..Please tell me what it is you want me to do now!” My voice was pleading and desperate, I could hear his answer, for the first time I could hear his answer and I was willing to follow him and his will.
“Your new daughter...A destiny awaits her...you need to prepare her, not only for your world but also for humans, wolves and all other beings out there. Her destiny is to unite them all, by herself or with the help of her mate. He has already been appointed.
With his last words the room grew colder and I knew he was gone. What I should do with the information he gave me, I was a little unsure about though.
“Where am I?...” Her voice was weak but it found its way straight into my heart. When I turned around she was staring at me wide-eyed, one green and one gray eye that both held so many questions…
