Chapter 58 - Don't go

**Hopes pov**

“ Nooo!!!” I reach the stairs at the same time as Mayas body hit the ground in front of me. Fredrick is gone but I don’t care. All I care about, all I see is Mayas bloody neck and pale skin.
“ Maya..Maya! Come on, you’re ok..you’re ok..come on girl..let me see that goofy smile..come on..you’re ok..you have to be ok..MAYA!!!” I try to get her up..She has to get up!
“ I need a doctor!!! NOW!!!” I scream and press Mayas limp form against my chest.
“ Please God, don’t do this, don’t take her from me..please, please please..I do anything!..pleeeaasee!!” I hear her heart but it is so weak..I try to wipe the blood away but it keeps coming..she doesn’t like to be messy..those things are very important to her, she would not like Reece to see her like this..
“ A napkin..does anybody have a napkin?” I look at Cathy, she is crying..shaking her head.
“ Let me take her, I take her to the clinic..” Reece say..his eye is full of tears and I can hear Chase howl in his head..
“ Hope..let him take her..he is her mate..we follow ok..he is faster..They are already waiting for her..come on, let her go..let him take her..they will clean her, I promise.” Callum starts loosen my arms from Maya, and I let him.


Dr Edmund comes out in the corridor, where we are all waiting, he has a grim look on his face.
“ Alpha..Luna..we stopped the bleeding..but honestly, she is almost out of blood..we give her more, but her brain..”
“Stop..there is nothing wrong with her brain! She is the smartest person I know!..she..there is nothing wrong with her brain!” I don’t want to hear it..she is ok, she has to be!
“Luna..most of her organs suffered severe hypoxia..” He takes of his glasses and rub his face.
“What does it mean?” Reece ask
“ It means her body is shutting down..I’m sorry..but unless you want her hooked up to all those machines..I think you should prepare to say your goodbyes.” Dr Edmund turned and walked away down the hall. I’m suddenly pushed against the wall, Reece has his finger hard against my chest.
“ You fix this! Do you hear me LUNA?! You did this, you let that sick bastard drink from her, this is all your fault!!! So you will go in there and fix it!” Reece is shaking, Chase is at the surface and they are both pissed at me.
“ Enough Reece! Back off!” Callum growl, putting him self between me and Reece.
But he is right..Reece is right..I did this. Fredrick loved Mayas blood as soon he could smell it when she entered the cell..and I let him have it.
“ Callum..its ok..can you please get Zandra, I need her.” I put my hands on his shoulder and turn him around.
“Please, see to it, she gets here fast. “ I go around him and Reece and step in to Mayas room. She appears to be sleeping, very peacefully..she has assisted breathing, so her chest rises and falls a bit mechanically..a blood bag hangs in the drip position and is connected directly to a vein in her neck. I sit down in bed next to her. She wouldn’t like her hair being so..bloody and disheveled. I use my fingers to comb through it and try my best to rub off the blood. Luna is present, she can feel how broken I am and she knows what I’m planning. *“We have to try..please..help me save her..”* I whisper the words as I speak them to her in my head. I hear the door behind me open, I know Zandra is here.
“Hope..I’m so sorry..”
“ Help me Zandra..tell me how to save her..you saw Aayla do it plenty of times right?” I turn and look at Zandra, she has to help me with this…I feel the tears running down my cheeks.
“ Do what Hope?..Turn her?..The people Aayla turned..they were healthy..she never turned a wounded human..Hope, I don’t know if its possible..”
“ It is, I know it is..I have to try. She is strong..she can handle it..shell be ok..” I keep stroking Mayas hair..she doesn’t like it to be..unkept..
“ Have you thought about the possibility she may not want this?..She may not want to..change?”..
“ Do you think she rather die??!” I yell at Zandra
“Reece!” I link him..he needs to be here.
Reece comes in, Callum and Cathy is right behind him..I notice Cathy’s red eyes..she had really come to love Maya..of course she had..who wouldn’t?
“ Tell her Reece, tell her Maya doesn’t want to die!”
“Please Zandra..help us save her..” Reeces cheeks are wet after the tears that won’t stop flowing..I have to save her..*Luna, girl..we have to try…*
Zandra walks up too Maya, moving the hair from her shoulder on her left side..the side Fredrick didn’t bite.
“ Right here..you bite down right here..just like you did when you marked Callum as yours. But you don’t stop when you feel her soul..You have to bite harder.. You must let Luna siphon off her own soul, to give birth to a new one..she knows when to let go..”
“ Reece..” I don’t know what to say to him..right now he hates me..just as much as I hate my self and it hurts.I want to have her back..for him, for me..I need to get her back.
I let my teeth grow and I bite down..I press through her skin and her muscle..even if I don’t hit a vein or an artery, the blood is still flowing in to my mouth, but I don’t care about that..I bite harder and I get a hit..I can feel her soul. Its like a light going through my body! I can hear her laugh and cry..i can see the twinkle in her eyes when the sun hits them one of those early spring mornings, on the steps outside the daycare center...i can smell her hair as she tosses it over her shoulder and of her soft lip gloss she is so dependent on..I can feel her tears soaking my shirt after a tough breakup..I feel everything she is. I start to vibrate, every hair on my hot skin is standing straight up..like I was electrocuted, beads of sweat run down my back, my breasts and my face, my training top becomes like a second skin because of the wetness..I can feel Luna is pouring her soul into Mayas so I step back, letting her take over in full.
Suddenly she let go. My lips is still resting against Mayas skin..I try to listen, to feel..I cant feel a wolf yet..maybe it takes time..I hear her faint hart beat..one, two..three…four….I listen harder, I must have missed it.. “Beeeeeeeeeep”..One of the machines start beeping..
“ Can someone shut that off, I’m trying to hear her heartbeats!!”
“Hope..come..you have to move..” Callum drags me away from the bed..what is this? What is happening? Is she waking up? Shifting? The room is flooded with people, nurses in all sorts of outfits..Dr Edmund is here to..
“One, two, three, Clear!” I hear him before he puts the paddles on Mayas chest and her body is strung up like a bow by the electricity going through her.
“Again! One, Two, Three, Clear!” Dr Edmunds voice sounds again.
The machine is still still beeping its monotonous sound..this cant be happening.. Luna..what is happening? What is wrong? She whines in my head and it feels like someone is compresses my heart..I back away..away from Maya..away from Reece and Callum..I need to get out..I cant hear that sound..I turn and I run.. One, Two, Three, Clear!..that is the last I hear before the fresh air outside hits me. I shift midair and land on my paws, Luna is still whining in my head, she wants to go back, she wants the comfort of Callum and Beacon and she wants to be there for Reece..But how could I? How could I go back? How will I be able to look Reece in the eyes ever again..knowing I am the reason for the death of his mate? How will Callum look at me?..The woman he loved, the woman who served her best friend up as a vampire snack.. *I’m sorry Luna..but we cant go back..take me away from here..* So we keep running, Luna is howling..its a howl full of grief..for our best friend, for our mate and for our pack. Further and further away, I can hear answers to our howls, so I keep running..until I cant hear them anymore..
