Chapter 89 - Dormant magic

**Callums pov**

I feel Zandra comes up behind me as I stand by the window, looking down at the training grounds. The others left just a little while ago.
“Do you really think she’s pregnant?” I haven’t processed what she said all day, I folded it up and put it away until I gathered the courage, I still don’t know if I have enough. This kind of news is something to be received and enjoyed together..not like this, torn apart by sick individuals.
“I don’t know, it was a vision..”
“Don’t give me that shit Zandra, when was the last time you had a vision that wasn’t true?
“It’s not if they are true or not.. It’s how they are interpreted.”
“She was in labor, how else can you interpret it? She ate to much?” I growl, immediately feeling bad for lashing out at her. A baby.. A pup.. Beacon is howling with joy but the only thing I can feel is cold fear. What will they do to her if they find out..what will they do to the baby? I turn around and look at Zandra. Her eyes is filled with compassion. She puts her hand on my cheek and I lean against it to feel her comfort.
“I’m sorry.. I just..”
“Hush.. Don’t mention it.. I understand.” She gives me a soft smile before her eyes wanders to the blue glass box on the table.
“What am I suppose to do with that? I cant fight the Sons of the Sun with a dagger.”
“You silly silly pup.. Of course you cant.. But you can fight them with a weapon made by the Gods. For the wizard it was a dagger, because that was what he needed it to be at the time.. If the sun would burn the land and kill Heavens children, then it could be rain.. If the rain threatens to flood the land and drown everyone, then it could be sun and wind.” She look at me to see if I understand.
“You have searched for it yourself, haven’t you? To kill Ambrogio?” It’s written all over her face, I saw it earlier to, when she told the story.
“I have..I did, for a very long time..Just like you grew up with my stories about the past, I grew up listening to my parents telling stories about the weapon forged by the Gods around the campfire in my village as a child. But the weapon reveals it self when there is no other way..when the threat is to big..obviously, the Gods didn’t think Ambrogio was..because I never found it.”
“In the stories you told me, A God or a Goddess can never hurt their own children?”
“Thats true, that is why all of them put a piece of them selves in the weapon..The hunters are humans so the piece from their Father will probably not be active, atleast that is how I suppose it works..or maybe they don’t need to be hurt or killed to be defeated..” she looked thoughtful, as if it were a puzzle she hadn’t quite managed to solve yet.
“You said someone with magic would have to use it..that means you have to come..I don’t have magic Zandra, and I really don’t want to give the weapon to Zara..I know she is your great granddaughter, but the things she did to us when we were kids…”
“Come Callum, sit with me.” She says and goes to the couch. I do as she asks and follow her. She takes my hands in hers, holding a little to hard as if she thinks I’m about to take them back.
“I have waited to tell you..there wasn’t really any need..” She starts
“Tell me what?”
“You have magic Callum..you are a great grandchild to me.”
“What?”
“I know Hope told you my story..so you know that I am old..Many many years ago..I met this beautiful man..I knew he was a wolf the moment I saw him, he was big and strong and I fell head over heels for him. We weren’t mates, so eventually he found his and we parted ways. He followed her to her pack and I stayed here. I soon discovered I was with child and a while later I gave birth to your great grandfather.” I can hear the love in her voice, there is no bitterness against the wolf who found his mate.
“Thats..How? I mean, I know how..but still, I’m an Alpha..I never heard of a hybrid Alpha?”
“You are not a hybrid..both your parents were wolves, this goes back several generations..but magic never gets watered down, once its in your blood it stays there. But if you don’t practise it becomes dormant and you have to wake it up. But trust me Callum, it’s there” She winks proudly at me.
“And Cathy? She got to have magic to right?”
“She does.”
“Wow..I don’t know how to react to all of this..” I really didn’t..me with magic..I dont know what the pack would feel about that..normally you don’t want to see your Alpha as anything else than a strong wolf.
“I understand you concerns..you dont need to tell anyone, they dont need to know.” Zandra said as if she knew exactly what I was thinking about..well, of course she did.
“Maybe I should atleast talk to Cathy, see what she wants to do?”
“Sure, you can do that..and If you decide you want to wake your magic up then you come find me. I will stay here at the pack house for now, It takes a lot of an old woman’s strength to run back and forth several times a day.
“Ha!..Old woman my ass..you cant fool me Zandra, I know you just putting on a show.” I helped her up from the couch and gave her a big hug before she left, leaving me alone with all my thoughts and worries.
So, things I need to do..One, talk to Cathy, Two, talk to Jesse about the rogues, three see where we are with the vampires, four, summon my magic, five, figure out what weapon I will need to free Hope.
I grab myself another beer and hold it against my forehead before I open it. I decide to call Cathy and Jesse back at the same time..maybe if I force them to be around each other things between them will change. I really want my sister to be happy, and Jesse is a cool guy, I wouldn’t mind having him in the family. I drink my beer in slow deep sips before I send Jesse a text and Cathy a link.
They both show up just a minute apart, clearly uncomfortable in each other’s presence. I started with Jesse. Without insulting him by assuming that just because he lives as a rogue he should know a lot of bad guys. No, more check if he knows someone who knows someone who is good at explosives.
“I made two turns over the sea and did some work in the bomb squads. I wasn’t the only wolf, I can get in touch with a few, see what ideas they can contribute.” He says and picks up his phone.
“That would probably mean he would be the one to plant a possible bomb?” Cathy asks me, looking a bit worried.
“I guess..yeah.”
“No! That’s out of the question” she says stubbornly and Jesse looks up from his phone questioningly.
“Do you remember when we were younger?..When we would shoot rockets behind old man Noha’s house? When you wanted to make sure the stubby didn’t go out and you ended up with no eyebrows for a week?” She looked annoyed as he chuckled at the memory.
“I wanted to impress you..how could I if the rocket didn’t work?” He looked at her with warmth in his eyes, but that quickly changed when she didn’t return it.
“This time we won’t have that problem.” He said and got up to go away and call the person he had now found in his contact list.
While Jesse was on the phone, I quickly went over what Zandra had told me with Cathy. She didn’t seem the least bit surprised though.
“Did you know?”
“That I have magic? Yes, I’ve known for a while”
“How?”
“A friend I met at boarding school, she’s a witch, she said she could feel it one day when we were meditating. We tried a few little spells, nothing big at all and it turns out I was good at some of them.” She gave me a smug smile
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I’m sure I would have but things has been kind of crazy since I got back.”
“Yeah..Its been a lot..I’m sorry if you feel I haven’t made time for you”
“No Callum, I didn’t mean it like that, and I would have told you as soon everything slowed down.” She reach her hand out and I take it. We do our soft thumb wrestling as we did as children, a silent kind of closeness between siblings I suppose.
Jesse comes back with a smile on his face
“So, we have two explosives experts on the team as of now. They had been close enough to get Hope’s link and are more than willing to give the Sons of the Sun what they deserve” He looked happy and hopeful..unlike Cathy.
“Fine! Go blow yourself up! See if I care!” Her voice was a mixture of screams and growls and I understand that she is not alone in being upset, Freespi is just under the surface.
“Cathy..” Jesse tried to approach her
“Don’t!” She said and I almost bared my neck to the authority in her voice. She stormed out, leaving us guys standing there, scratching our heads.
