Chapter 91 - The attack

**Callums pov**

The last twenty-four hours have been hectic. From the meditation that would awaken my magic to meetings with Jesse's friends, conversations and plans with other Alphas, agreements with the vampires, so that the other Alphas would not deviate. But now it was finally time. I stand in the front line with Reece and Jesse by my sides.
There are close to seven hundred wolves behind us and at least as many vampires. There were some small fights but they were quickly steered away by either Ambrogio’s generals or ranked wolves. I clutched the weapon in my pocket. I never thought what it would turn out to be but it was exactly what I needed.
“Are you ready to do this?” Ambrogio comes up to me. I still find it difficult to be around him, the man radiates both authority and evil and it made my skin crawl. But at this point I have no choice, I need his help.
“As ready as I’ll ever be”
“Be careful” He said polite
“Sure, you to..remember the weapons, they probably contain Hopes blood.” He nodded before going back to his place. I saw him tilt his head back a bit before I heard a loud whistle, louder than the one Vamp-Brad whistled during the attack.I look at the result of the whistle with a pinch of admiration. They were barely heard, I saw the vampires move like a dark mass towards the building, then it was as if they disappeared as they pressed themselves to the ground, merged with the darkness around them and waited.
“Your turn,” I said to Jesse who also nodded and jogged off. Two minutes later, three loud bangs are heard. The smaller building was soon in flames. It had been our target to create the chaos we needed. It was pretty clear early on that we wouldn’t be able to blow our way into the big building, the one where Hope was being held prisoner. We stay still and hidden while we watch soldiers pour out to see what happened. When they crossed the vampires it was as if the ground swallowed them, they disappeared without a sound. The next wave of soldiers came out and at the same time, strong searchlights are turned on. The vampires advantage disappeared and now they are visible. Alarms start to wail and the war is on.
“ATTACK!!!” I yell and our wave of wolves moves forward.
“THE DOOR! SOMEONE SECURE THE DOOR!” Reece is growling beside me.
I feel a sharp pain in my chest when the bond to one of my warriors breaks. Beacon whines before growling, pushing more power into my body as I charge forward. I have my claws and teeth out and cut and bite my way through the soldiers that get in my way. I hear gunshots and feel gunpowder smoke mixed with the smell of blood and mud all around me. New soldiers keep coming out of the building, like ants out of an anthill.
A soldier gets in front of me and tries to raise his rifle to fire, but I knock it out of his hands and grab him firmly around the neck, lifting him off the ground.
“Tell me how to get into the building!” I growl at him. To my surprise, he doesn’t look scared, more determined. He fingers for something around his neck and before I can understand what it is, he puts his necklace pendant in his mouth and bites. A few seconds later he is dead. The idiots carry cyanide or something similar to kill themselves if caught..only weak humans would choose such a cowardly way out.
“Callum!” I hear Ambrogio’s voice calling my name before I see him. His children surrounds him, making sure he is protected as he makes his way to me.
“Come with me, I found a way in” He says and holds up what appears to be a keycard.
“REECE! This way!” I wave at him to follow and we take off after Ambrogio to the back of the building. There is a loading dock with a gate made of strong steel. Ambrogio places the card on the tray and a green light starts to blink.
“The code?” Ambrogio growls and almost makes me take a step back. A few of his children throws a man to the ground. Strange, I hadn’t even noticed they dragged him along.
“Don’t make me ask you again you filthy sack of blood!” I can easily see the terrifying version of the Father of vampires. His fangs are out, his golden eyes dark and almost luminescent and a vein or two clearly visible in his temples. The man on the ground is terrified.
“Seven, three, five, zero, one, two, six.” Ambrogio is pushing the numbers in as he gets them and the door clicks open after the last.
“Do you have a good memory Alpha?” He asks before stepping inside.
“I have! I got them.” Reece answers before me.
“Good..Children, he is all yours.” Ambrogio says before stepping in. The vampires threw themselves at the man on the ground and I felt a chill as I heard his screams behind me.
We move quickly through corridor after corridor, further and further into the building. Those who discover us are quickly neutralized, but not before we get them to tell us which direction we should go. We enter a corridor that looks a bit like the one outside my cells back home. Some doors have round windows and when I look in, I can see that it is correct, they are cells. We open door after door. Many are empty, some contain prisoners, we leave them open so they have the opportunity to escape but do not involve us more than that. At the short end of the corridor is a door without a window and I can feel it, I know it’s her door. My heart beats so hard in my chest it feels like it’s about to burst. Ambrogio again places the card on the screen and punches the code. This time a red light is on. We’re not coming in. I look around and see a hatch in the wall. On my knees, I pull it aside and look inside. There she is, sleeping and completely unaware of what is happening around her.
“Hope!..Hope, baby wake up!” I call but she dosen't react.
“Hope? You need to wake up sweetie” I try again.
I can se her move and hear her mumbling something in her sleep, it has my name in it. My sweet girl, dreaming about me.
“Move!” Ambrogio is pushing me aside and Beacon gets really pissed for being closed off from our girls.
“LUNA! WAKE THE FUCK UP!” He roars in to the hatch before moving and again letting me see her. She sits up straight in bed and looks around wide awake.
“Here baby, I’m here!”
She starts breathing heavily when she sees me and gets from the bed to the hatch on her hands and knees. She looks broken and weak. She is pale with dark circles under her eyes and when I finally get her hand in mine through the hatch it feels thin, fragile and cold.
“Callum?”
“Yeah..I’m here baby”
“Please get me out..please..even if you are a dream, get me out..” She cries and my heart breaks when I realise she thinks I'm a dream. Again, Ambrogio push me aside, that SOB is testing my limits.
“Hope, Luna, nice to see you again!”
“Ambrogio?” She sounds surprised but at the same time I can hear she starts to realize this is real.
“The one and only, our card does not work on your door..” He gets interrupted by the door on the other end of the corridor is opened. A woman steps in,.She walks towards us with hasty steps. All three of us stand up, fangs out and low growls to show her to beware.
“I..I am..I am here to hh..I am here to help..” she stutters
“I am here to help Hope..” She slows her steps and takes her key card out of her pocket.
“Mercedes? Mercedes is that you?” Hope is calling through the hatch.
“Yes miss Hope..it’s me” Carefully she passes us and puts her card on the small screen, punches in her code and when the click confirms the door is unlocked I push past them all and lunge in Hope’s direction. I pull her into my arms and hold her tight to my chest. I never want to let her go again, never! She feels so weak, not only her physique, Luna is weak too, I cant feel her. She’s wearing a horrible collar, I see pins in her neck and the creases of her arms. While holding her I turn to the woman.
“Get this shit off her now!” I growl. She looks at Hope and knows exactly what I mean but doesn’t move from her spot. Ambrogio steps up behind her, she’s stuck between us and I hear her heartbeat increase..but she still doesn’t move.
“I would probably do what he asks.” Ambrogio speaks in her ear while moving her hair to the side, exposing her neck.
“I will..but you have to promise me something first. You have to promise to take me with you..me and my mate..”
