Chapter 70 - Track and trace

**Callums pov**

I’m looking at the two young people in front of me. Kevin and Emma. We are sitting in the kitchen, I promised Hope to keep an eye on them, she is a little worried about Kevin behaving like Reece when he first met Maya. But these two, maybe because they are so young, they are shy and tender against eachother so Hope has nothing to worry about. Cathy comes and join us, she glance at the couple before looking down in her cup, lost in thoughts. I really need to talk with her, about this mate of hers she apparently rejected.
“ Hey, are you ok?.” I bump my shoulder against hers to get her attention.
“ Yeah..I’m fine.. Kevin, what are you eating?” she wrinkles her nose
“ A sandwich, Emma made me a sandwich and its the best I’ve ever had..Its got turkey, mustard and pickles..I could never thought of a better combination.” he smiles lovely against Emma, taking another big bite.
The sandwich falls out of his hand as we all scream in pain. The strong link threatening to tear our brains apart.
((( HUNTERS!!!))) The stress and panic in Lunas call for help is obvious, then it disappears..and the silence is deafening. She is just gone. I run out of the pack house, looking around out in the darkness..listening, smelling, trying to find the smallest trace..nothing. Members of the pack is gathering, they all got the link and they are all very concerned about their Luna. Reece is organizing the warriors and within just a couple of minutes we shift and start searching.
“ I want every spot searched from here to the boarder!” I link the warriors. I then turn on a private link to Cathy.
“ Can you check in with other packs? I don’t know how far her link traveled, se if they can be of any help.”
“ Of course..be careful Callum, the hunters has nasty weapons and they evolve constantly.”
We run in the direction of Zandras house and Reece found her scent first. She’s been there, not long ago. We couldn't find anything from the humans..but we know they have ways of masking there scent but what I did find is making my blood boil. I smell her everywhere..Tina…what the fuck was she doing here? Did she have anything to do with this?..no..she wouldn’t dare..would she?
We trace Hopes scent to the boarder and a bit further but as we come to the first road we figured they left by car because all traces ended there.
The hunters have never bothered us before..they stay away from large packs, and I doubt they even knew about us. Zandra has ways to make sure we can pass any tests we are subjected to and we also have a couple of hunters on the payroll who will direct suspicions away from us..so why would they sneak in and grab Hope? Could Ambrogio have anything to do with this?..He didn’t seem interested in any kind of confrontation after the cave..Fredrick? No, he was locked up..at least that was my understanding..
“ Alpha?..What do you want us to do?” Reece is coming up beside me.
“ I don’t know..we need to contact..who ever we can contact.. You will reach out to our payed hunters, ask them what the fuck is going on..I will visit Zandra, we meet back in the packhouse. Keep every able warrior on the boarders. no one goes in or out without me knowing.”

I shift back outside Zandras before putting on the clothes she left for me on the stairs and enter her house without knocking.
“ Zandra!?”
“ Kitchen” she called back.
She hands me a glass of whiskey as soon as she sees me and I gulp it all down.
“ What the fuck is going on Zandra? Please, say you know something!”
“ I wish I could..I got the same link as the rest of you..then she was gone. They must have sedated her heavily..but to my knowledge, nothing can keep Luna drugged for long..she is not the ordinary wolf so I hope she contact us as soon as she wakes up…and then, I feel sorry for them who think they can hold her.” Zandra pats my shoulder and take my glass for a refill.
“ Do you think he has something to do with it?..Ambrogio..He met his mate, Hope is the only threat to him..could he have arranged to get her out off the way?” I look at Zandra and I can tell she had thought about it to.
“ I don’t know Callum..I wouldn’t put it pass him..I know what he is capable of..but he didn’t seem hostile when she met with him..he could have killed her right there, he could have killed you all..but he didn’t..So I don’t really know.” She pored her self a drink as well and I can see all of this is eating away at her. I walk up and give her a hug and I feel her relax in my arms.
“ We will get her back..I know we will” I say and kiss the top of her head.
I left her and headed back to the pack house. Entering, I hear voices come from the kitchen.
“ I am just saying, she left once before, who knows if she did it again? Maybe she sent out that link as a diverter? Maybe she is headed back to her home and to that guy..what was his name? Jesse? I saw how happy she was to see him at the dinner.”
“ Shut the fuck up Tina, you know nothing! You don’t know Hope and you don’t know James! I fucking rip your tongue out if you speak like that again!” Cathy was furious.
“ All I’m saying is to not trust a Luna who leaves her pack or her Alpha..I would never leave Callum like that.”
I rounded the corner and headed straight for her, closing my hand around her neck, lifting her out of her chair and slammed her against the wall. Her feet not touching the floor.
“ What the fuck did you do Tina? Where is she?” I growl at her.
“ Callum..stop it..please..I didn’t do anything..I got the same link as everybody ells.” she whines, struggling to both talk and breathe.
“ Is that why your scent is all over the place where they took her? You lying piece off trash!” I let go of her and she slumped down on the floor.
“ My scent is on many places, I visit your pack often, you know that Callum..you use to like when I visit” She pouted and tried to look hurt and cute, batting her lashes at me.
“ There is something really wrong with you Tina..Reece, take her to the cells, she knows something and I will find out what.” I say, not letting my eyes of her.
“ Sure, I'll take her.” Reece says
“ And I will help you love” Maya says, stepping around me and grabbing Tina by her hair.
“ Let me go you bitch, who do you think you are? I am a betas daughter!” Tina screamed.
“And I don’t give a shit” Maya started to drag her and dropped her at Reeces feet.
“ Callum! Please, stop this!..I am here for you, to help you and the pack heal..please, let me help you!” Tina continued pleading
“ Get her out of here, and Reece, use the lower cells.” I turned my back at them, listening to Tinas screams fading away.
“ Do you really think she had anything to do with this?” Cathy looks conflicted.
“ I do..I don’t know what, how or how much..but the place reeked with her scent. She was there when they took her, of that I’m sure.”
“ You will have to contact the Low Falls Pack..this can get ugly, she is treated like a princess over there, even the Alpha couple sees her like a daughter.” Cathy’s voice was full of concern.
“ I’m not worried about that..they learned who Hope and Luna is under the ceremony..If David wants to come at me for this, well, he is welcome to try”..I study Cathy’s face..she looks tired and worn, and then it hits me.
“ It’s Jesse, isn’t it?”
“ Wh..what?”
“ Your mate, It’s Jesse..right?..I heard your reaction to what Tina said..I’ve seen how much you’ve changed since he was here..He is the mate you rejected, or who rejected you?” A few tears escape her eyes as she nods.
“ Yeah..he is..but I’m not ready to talk about it..so please Callum, can we leave it alone for now?” She pleads and I walk up to her and rub her shoulder as she sits on her chair. She is really tense.
“ Yes, I leave that subject for now..but I need you to call him..or I have Maya do it.”
“ Why?..What do you want from him?”
“ He is one of Hopes friends so he has the right to know what’s going on. He is also a rogue with alpha blood.. he might have knowledge or contacts we need. Get him here, I’m sorry to do this to you, I love you siss but I’m not asking as your brother, I’m ordering you as your Alpha.”
“ Callum…Callum can you hear me?..please say you can hear me!..” Hopes weak voice is whispering in my head.
