Chapter 1125 Best Protection
Callum's voice made Emily turn her head. When she saw Callum standing at the door of the room, her expression suddenly changed.
Why did Callum suddenly appear?
Callum's gaze lingered on Azalea and Emily for a moment before he stepped in with Angel behind him.
Emily looked puzzled when she saw Angel and Callum coming in while Azalea's heart pounded. Angel didn't respond to the message, but Azalea didn't expect that she would come with Callum. She was afraid that things were going to be terrible.
Azalea controlled her panic and greeted, "Hello, Mr. Floyd and Ms. Floyd!"
"Hello, Miss Clark! Angel and I aren't disturbing you, did we?"
"No! Of course, not! Please come in and have a seat!" Callum nodded and took Angel in to sit down while he looked at Emily with a smile. "When did you come to B City?"
Emily saw Callum sit down with Angel and frowned. She didn't know if Azalea had planned this in advance. Callum was Azalea's boss while Angel was in charge of Azalea's work. Since she couldn't refuse them, she had no choice but to squeeze a smile. "I arrived today, Mr. Floyd. Nice to meet you, Ms. Floyd!"
Callum was flattered when he saw Emily talking to him with a smile. Did Emily really send the message?
He was in a really good mood. "We're all friends here, so it's my treat today!"
"How can I..." Emily immediately refused.
"It's my father's treat, Miss Clark, so please don't refuse. My father is very stingy and he rarely treats people to meals." Angel immediately said as she saw Callum looking at Emily's fawning smile.
"Ms. Floyd, you must be joking! Mr. Floyd is not a stingy person." Azalea immediately smoothed things over with a smile.
"She's used to speaking freely." Callum smiled and took the menu from Emily. "Let me order the dishes."
Emily was polite. "Thank you, Mr. Ye."
Callum ordered the dishes very quickly since he didn't have to see the price at all, and he just ordered according to Emily's preferences.
The waiter took the menu and left. Callum looked at Emily eagerly. "Are you here to see Ms. Barrack?"
"Yes!" Emily unnaturally avoided Callum's warm gaze.
"I'm sorry about what happened to her! The people who hurt her have been found and they will be punished by the law. As for her injuries, you don't have to worry about it. We will be responsible for her medical fees and living expenses."
"Thank you, Mr. Floyd!" Emily thought of Madelyn's purpose in coming to the Floyd family and her heart inexplicably became flustered. She looked at Angel subconsciously.
Angel had been watching Emily and Callum. When she saw Emily looking at her, she immediately smiled ingratiatingly and offered tea to Emily. "Have some tea!"
Emily smiled at Angel as she said, "Thank you, Ms. Floyd!"
The waiter quickly brought dinner. Callum acted differently from his usual indifference and offered to serve Emily.
Angel was used to Callum's cold attitude towards Veronica, so his warm attitude towards Emily was the polar opposite of how he treated Veronica.
Callum would act uncaring in front of Veronica while he acted cautiously in front of Emily. He looked at Emily with tender eyes as if he was a man in love.
Emily was really not as simple as she seemed and she could actually affect Callum's mood so easily.
Fortunately, she didn't want to offend Emily and she changed her mind.
Angel used to hate Emily and she felt that the older lady was just putting on airs and fantasizing.
Today, she finally understood that Emily was the best backer she could have after she saw Callum's attitude towards Emily. If Angel could get Emily's support, Callum would definitely be kind to her.
The atmosphere at dinner was still quite good. Angel was also full of smiles when she saw Callum's good attitude and Azalea slowly relaxed as well. Except for Emily, everyone in the room was in a good mood.
For so many years, it was the first time that Callum had sat down with Emily for dinner. He only hoped that this moment could last forever.
Azalea and Angel were not fools. Naturally, they saw through Callum's thoughts and the two of them left the room on the excuse that they had something to do.
Emily and Callum were the only ones left in the room, and there was no one else. The fake smile on Emily's face immediately disappeared.
Callum was used to her cold expression, so he did not take it to heart. "Emily! I specially brought Angel to see you today. I will give you and Angel some space later. You can tell her anything you want."
"Mr. Ye, I have nothing to say to Ms. Floyd." Emily immediately refused.
Callum had expected Emily's refusal. He and Emily loved each other deeply before, so he understood Emily's character. She was used to hiding everything in her heart. and she might be embarrassed because he had brought Angel here with him.
Callum naturally wanted to help Emily, so he took the initiative to beg, "Angel wants to see you. Emily, she is our daughter. I know you hated me when I hurt you, but Angel is innocent, isn't she?"
"She is not my daughter." Emily thought in her heart, but she couldn't tell the truth and she felt incredibly frustrated. Why was she in such a mess?
If she had known it would be like this, she shouldn't have come to B City. In this way, she could avoid this awkward situation.
When Callum saw that Emily had lowered her head silently, he continued to persuade her, "Emily, I have told Angel the truth on the way here and she knows that you are her biological mother. Angel did not reject or detest you, and she is very happy. She sincerely wants to be close to you. I'm begging you, please don't push her away, okay?"
Emily knew that she couldn't pretend to be silent, or else Callum would be suspicious. "Have you thought about the consequences of recognizing her? You have a wife, so what will she think if she finds out?"
"I will deal with it. Emily, I won't let Veronica affect your life at all."
In the past, Emily had often been secretly targeted by Veronica when she was abroad. Since Veronica was abroad now, Emily was not afraid of her playing tricks. She was now bothered by the fact that she was not related to Angel at all and she did not want to have any contact with the younger girl.
Emily immediately brought up Fandrey and Deborah. "How about your parents? They hate me to the core. How dare you disregard their feelings?"
"Emily, my parents are not as horrible as you think and they are not bad people. My parents will not interfere with Angel's matters. As long as you want to recognize Angel, they will not stop you."
"This is just what you think, isn't it? You told me the same thing back then that your parents will accept us. What happened in the end? Callum! I don't want to suffer as I did before! I don't believe your promises anymore!"
"Emily, my promise to you has never changed! You have always been my only love!"
What? These words made Emily turn her head and stare at Callum. What did he mean?
