Chapter 1697 Bad-tempered
On the other end of the phone, William heard Richard's gentle voice coaxing Emma. He was stunned for a moment. "The child is with you?"
"Yeah. I brought her outside to play with your two kids. She doesn't make a fuss. It makes me feel sorry for her."
William sighed and said, "Richard, since you know about the child, I won't hide the other thing from you anymore. Abbie recovered her memory."
Richard was utterly stunned when he heard this. He had wanted to curse again, but when he saw Emma staring at him with her big eyes, he swallowed the words he was about to say.
"Why? We are the closest people to her. Why did she hide it from us?"
"Leonard threatened her with the child. She was worried he would hurt the child, and she wasn't sure if you and your family would accept Michael's child. If Leonard hadn't threatened her and forced her to the point where she couldn't bear it anymore, she would have kept it a secret forever."
Richard was silent for a long time, so William knew that his thoughts were all mixed up right now. "Richard, Abbie has suffered a lot. I know you love her, and I know that you're sad that she kept it a secret from you. It's just that she has her own difficulties. If you put yourself in her shoes, you won't be so mad at her."
"I'm not angry. I'm just very sad and disappointed." Richard smiled bitterly. "I didn't expect her to be so distant from us. I can't accept it."
"What are you going to do?"
"What can I do? She is my sister, my only sister, and the closest person to me. She doesn't trust me, so I have to find a way to make her trust me."
"That's right. People do have feelings after all. If you treat her genuinely, she will feel it eventually. By the way, she doesn't want you to know about the child and her recovering her memories. You should pretend that you don't know and find a way to make her tell you herself."
"I got it!"
Richard stayed in the garden for a while before walking back with Emma in his arms. Cade and Santhos followed behind Richard with small and hurried steps.
As Cade walked, he jumped on his toes and tried to grab Emma's little feet. Richard saw this and said, "What are you doing?"
"Wife!" Cade pointed at Emma and said.
Santhos followed closely, "Wife!"
Richard stopped and said, "Don't talk nonsense!"
"Mother said so." Cade continued to clutch Emma's little feet.
"Who said that she was going to be you little brats wife? Dream on!" Richard snorted.
"I want!" Cade retorted.
"No way!"
Seeing Richard quarrel with the two of them, Jacelyn and the nanny both laughed. Just then, Abbie and Valeria came out of the house at this time too.
"Dinner is ready. We're here to call you all for dinner." As Abbie spoke, she reached out to take Emma but she refused to let go of Richard's neck.
Seeing this, Valeria and Abbie exchanged a look of confusion.
Dinner was ready in the dining hall. Cade and Santhos sat on their chairs and began to eat with small bowls by themselves.
The two of them weren't very skilled at eating, causing food to be spilled all over the place. Valeria and Jacelyn sat next to them to help clean up the mess. Seeing that Emma was sitting in a high chair, Santhos got off his chair, walked over to Emma with a small bowl in his hands, and wanted to feed her. The adults all laughed at this.
"She can only drink milk now. She can't eat this," Valeria explained. "When she grows up, she'll be able to eat like Santhos."
Santhos understood. Then, hee reached out to stroke Emma's head. "Grow!"
Emma grinned as she looked at Santhos. When Cade saw this, he immediately lost his temper and threw his bowl.
"What is it this time?" Valeria looked at Cade sternly. Cade puffed up his cheeks and glared at Santhos with a fierce look.
Richard snorted and said, "This boy sure has quite the temper. Is he going to throw a punch?"
"He always bullies Santhos!" Valeria frowned and said, "Cade, don't glare at Santhos like that. And you can't just lose your temper like that. Where are your manners?"
"He stole my wife!" Cade said.
"Who said that Emma is your wife? In the future, you'll have to get her to be your wife on your own. If you can't, then she'll be someone else's wife."
"Who dares!"
"Just wait and see! Emma won't like you if you act like this. And if your dad sees how you lost your temper like this, he'll give you a good beating!"
At the mention of William, Cade restrained himself. It seemed that he was afraid of William.
"It's good that you're afraid." Helen smiled and asked the nanny to change his bowl and chopsticks. Cade was not angry anymore as he said in a sweet voice, "Thank you, grandma!"
"That's a good boy! Only an obedient child will be liked by others!"
After finishing the meal, the nanny made a bottle of formula for Emma, who held the bottle of milk in her hands and drank it. Santhos didn't leave her side for a second.
Cade was very annoyed at this. He took Valeria's hand and took her aside. "Mom! I don't like Santhos!"
"Santhos is your brother. You are his older brother. You have to be nice to him. Do you understand?"
"I don't like him!" Cade shook his head stubbornly. "He stole daddy, mommy, grandpa! He stole wife! I don't like him!"
Valeria had a headache. Cade was very stubborn and wanted to have everything for himself. He was so jealous at such a young age, and it was not a good thing. He had to be educated from now on, otherwise, he would grow up with an even worse temper.
Meanwhile, in the hospital, the assistant sent dinner to Leonard. Leonard was in a bad mood, so he didn't eat much.
Knowing that he was in a bad mood, the assistant didn't dare provoke Leonard.
After packing up, he had wanted to leave, but Leonard didn't give him a chance. He stopped his assistant and said, "Abbie took Emma back to the Clark family. Go and ask about the situation there."
The assistant could only ask the nanny this, so he sent a message to the nanny as he obeyed. "How did the Clark family react?"
The nanny replied, "Mrs. Clark doesn't like Emma, and she's very cold to her. I can't tell if Mr. Clark is happy or not. Richard held Emma just now."
The assistant told Leonard about the nanny's reply. When Leonard heard this, he snorted and asked, "Is there anything else?"
The assistant asked the nanny again, to which the nanny replied, "After Miss Clark came back, her good friend came here with her child too. They are two very good-looking young masters. They are staying over for dinner. The two of them like Emma very much."
"Valeria went to the Clark family too?" Leonard laughed coldly. "Ask about Valeria's attitude towards the child!"
The assistant asked the nanny again, "What's Miss Clark's friend's attitude towards Emma?"
The nanny hesitated for a moment. Valeria didn't hold Emma, so it seemed that she didn't like her very much. She replied, "Nothing special!"
Leonard was relieved when he heard his assistant's reply. "That's normal! Valeria went there this time to take advantage of the situation. She must have wanted to talk bad about me to Abbie. How would she react if she knew that the child was Abbie's and has nothing to do with me?"
"Mr. Floyd, Miss Clark won't tell Valeria about her child, will she?" the assistant asked.
"I'm worried about this too. Tell the nanny to keep an eye on them. If there's anything fishy, report to me immediately."
