Chapter 1523 Why Are You Nice To Her

Abbie was pushed into the examination room by a nurse. Before the operation, the doctor would need to conduct a comprehensive physical examination.
Leonard stood in the corridor with an unlit cigarette in his mouth. It was prohibited to smoke in the hospital, so he could only put a cigarette in his mouth to deal with his addiction.
When Leonard's assistant, who followed him to the hospital, saw his furrowed brows and grim face, he lowered his voice and said, "Mr. Floyd, why are you unhappy?"
"Unhappy, you say? Do I look upset?"
"Yes, you have a deep frown. You look troubled. Are you thinking about Miss Clark?"
"You can say so." Leonard nodded. "Will she not regret getting rid of the baby?"
"No woman in this world can accept what Michael did. I don't think Miss Clark will regret his decision, or will she?" The assistant was unsure as well.
"You can't be sure too, can you? A woman's heart is a deep ocean of secrets. If..."
Leonard bit his cigarette slightly. "It's not like she can regain her memory right now. If she feels that she has done something irreversible after regaining her memory, she will hate me for sure."
"So you're hesitating, aren't you?"
"That's right, I have to have reservations! You do know that one misstep is all it takes to lose the game, don't you? What's more... don't you think that Abbie is pretty interesting?"
"Mr. Floyd, are you referring to..."
"I thought she would want to see her family, but she refused to see them in the end. She would rather accept my protection. Does this mean that I am more important than her family in her heart? If so, how can I let her down?"
"Well..." The assistant rubbed his head in frustration. He also felt that Abbie's actions were a little hard to understand.
At this moment, the doctor opened the door and walked out of the room. He looked at Leonard and said, "Mr. Floyd, I just checked Miss Clark's body and found that she is severely anemic. She is not a suitable candidate for surgery at the moment."
"Did you tell her about it?" Leonard asked.
"Yes, but she insisted on the operation. I think it's better to be safe than sorry. If something goes wrong, the consequences will be unthinkable. What say you?"
"Let's not do it then!" Leonard tossed the cigarette in his hand away. "She needs to get more rest and recuperate before we discuss the matter of abortion again."
The nurse pushed Abbie out of the examination room in a wheelchair. Leonard stepped forward and said, "The doctor has told me that you're in bad health. It's not the right time for an abortion now."
"Then when will the time be right?"
"Let's wait and recuperate for some time. Your health is what matters most. If your health deteriorates, the loss will outweigh the gain. Do you understand?"
Abbie kept quiet for a moment. "Okay, I'll listen to you!"
After sending Abbie back to the ward, Leonard peeled a kiwi for her but she didn't eat it. "I don't like it."
"You have to eat it even if you don't like it. This is to replenish the vitamin C in your body. You've been in a coma for so long and you're lacking in many nutrients. You need to recuperate slowly," Leonard said as he handed the fruit to Abbie.
She looked at it, and then him. "Can I have oranges?"
Leonard stared at her for a while. Then, he placed the kiwi down and picked up an orange. He began to peel it again. His assistant stood next to him and watched what he did. He felt a little nervous.
He had worked for Leonard for a long time, but he had yet to come across anyone who disobeyed him. Those who defied him had already suffered for their insolence. Some of them were already six feet under.
Leonard peeled the orange and handed it to Abbie slowly. She took it and put it into her mouth. "Why are you so nice to me?"
Leonard looked at her. "Do you think I'm nice to you?"
"Are you not being nice to me?" Abbie answered with a question.
Leonard let out a smile. "I like beautiful girls. You're pretty, and you fit into my definition of beauty. That's why I'm happy to serve you."
"Hm, is that all?"
"What else?" Leonard looked at Abbie with a smile. She shook her head in response. "I don't know. I just feel... Argh, forget it. I'll keep your kindness in mind and repay you in the future!"
The corners of Leonard's mouth curved upwards slightly when he left. It showed that he was in a good mood.
The assistant followed him into the car as he said, "Miss Clark is a sweet girl."
"Sweet, huh?" Leonard stopped smiling as he looked at the assistant darkly. "Do you like her? Do you think you're worthy of her?"
"No... that's not it... I just feel that you seem to pamper her a lot... I..." the assistant stammered in response.
Leonard said coldly, "I've never been so nice to women. Is that what you're trying to say? Don't worry, this is just the beginning. I'll pamper her even more in the future!"
He took out his phone and looked at it as he spoke. There was an unread message on it. "I received word just now that someone has found the nurse. If that person is working for William, your identity  is likely exposed."
Leonard deleted the message as a cold smile appeared on his lips. He ordered the assistant, "Let's go back to the office!"
After Jaxon found the nurse, it did not take much effort for him to get the information from her. After that, he called William to report to him instantly.
"Mr. Howard, my men have found the nurse of that hospital. She told them everything she knew."
William asked, "Who's our guy?"
"The nurse said that his name is Leonard, but she heard the bodyguards call him Mr. Floyd. I don't know his exact identity other than the fact that he is generous with money and very handsome."
"A man with the surname Floyd? Plus, he looks a lot like me, doesn't he? Could he be someone from my grandfather's side?" William made an assumption.
"It's quite possible. Isn't it said that nephews will resemble their uncle? That man with the Floyd surname looks so much like you. He might really be a member of the Floyd family. But you only have one uncle, don't you? Is there any other child in the Floyd family? Judging by his age, this man is about the same age as you. Could he be the illegitimate child of Mr. Floyd?"
William shook his head in response. "I don't think that's possible."
"Wasn't Emily pregnant with a child back then? Could it be him?"
"Beats me. I'll have to ask the Floyd family about this when I'm free. Do you have any other findings?"
"Yes, the nurse told me about the female patient. She said that the patient accidentally fell into the sea and was seriously injured. Then the latter was sent to the hospital. The patient was in a coma for more than a month before she finally woke up. She had no memories of the past once she regained consciousness. In addition, she was pregnant. Mr. Floyd went to the hospital every day. The nurse assumed that the patient was pregnant with his child."
"Is that so? When was the female patient sent to the hospital? I want the specific time and date."
Jaxon told William the time, and the latter found that it was a little familiar. "Why does the date feel familiar to me?"
"It's normal that you're familiar with the date, Mr. Howard. This is the day when Miss Clark went missing. Back then, you ordered me to go to the sea with our men to look for her."
"The day of Abbie went missing, huh?" William froze for a while. "What a coincidence!"
He pondered for a moment before he ordered Jaxon, "I'll leave the matter of Mr. Floyd and the injured woman to you. Tell me immediately if you find anything."
