Chapter 856 Betrayal
Marcus' attitude angered Deborah so much that her face turned green. "This is unacceptable! They're clearly going against us!"
Fandrey and Callum did not say anything. Marcus's lack of respect was not because of his personal behaviour, but it was under William's orders. It showed how impatient William was with the Floyd family!
Deborah was so angry that she picked up her phone and called William. "William, did Marcus come to the ward because you asked him to? Did you allow him to be unreasonable to me? You didn't come here to deliver things, but you just wanted to initiate a fight. Why are you so busy anyway? You can't even come to see your cousin and you had to ask someone else to do it?"
William's voice was faint. "Grandma, I'm really busy. There's no way I can spare some time!"
"What are you doing? What exactly are you busy with?" Deborah questioned.
"I'm accompanying my wife for her checkup in the hospital now."
"It's just a checkup, isn't it? Can't you do that any time? Why does she need you to accompany her?"
Deborah deliberately expressed her dislike for Valeria, which was unbearable to William.
He initially wanted to save Deborah's dignity, but he didn't bother to do so anymore.
"It's not like that. My wife doesn't need me to accompany her, but being with my wife during her check-up is more important to me than anything else."
"So you're saying that your cousin means nothing to you? Is that what you mean?"
Deborah's unreasonable behaviour made William chuckle. He placed so much emphasis on his familial ties, but what about the Floyd family? Were they also the same?
William sneered, "Grandma, your question is a little ridiculous. I've lived for more than 20 years without knowing who my cousin is. Why would she have a place in my heart?"
Deborah was left speechless by William's retort. Only then did she realize that she had said something disrespectful in a fit of anger. She softened her tone and said, "Angel just experienced such a terrible incident last night and she likes you so much. Can't you come and comfort her? I'm sure you can let her regain her confidence."
"Where there is life and death, there is hope. She could be saved because she decided that she wanted to live. I'm sure she will figure it out by herself. I am not a doctor, so I can't change anything even if I visit her. Besides, I can be quite dense at times and I don't know how to give her proper advice. I'm afraid that I'll say something wrong and make her lose her will to live!"
"You!" Deborah's face turned green with anger.
He knew that Deborah was in a bad mood, but he was even more unhappy. He didn't want to argue with her at all. "Grandma, do you have anything else to say? If not, then I'll hang up first!"
William immediately hung up while Deborah looked at Fandrey and Callum with resignation. "He accompanied Valeria for a medical examination, but he doesn't want to see Angel. He's going too far!"
"Why do you care so much about whether he wants to come or not?" Fandrey heard the call between William and Deborah clearly. Did William dislike their family so much?
Not only was he disappointed and angry, but he also felt humiliated. Then, Fandrey stood up abruptly and stormed out angrily.
Valeria was a little worried when she heard William insulting Deborah openly. "Hubby, isn't this a little inappropriate? Didn't they save you when you were abroad back then? What would they think of you after this?"
"If not for this, I would not have been able to tolerate them from the start!" William spat out angrily. He could tolerate the Floyd family provoking him, but he could not stand it when they disliked and insulted Valeria.
Who was Angel? She pretended to commit suicide to set up Valeria. If it were someone else, he would've already destroyed them by now. The Floyd family wasn't self-aware at all and they even expected him to play along with their antics. Did they think he was so foolish?
He suppressed his anger and took Valeria's hand while he said, "Let's do the medical check-up. You don't have to pay attention to these trivial matters."
Meanwhile, in Talitha's ward. Hardy, who had not shown up for a long time, appeared with Bevan.
Talitha was stunned at first when she saw that Hardy had come to see her. Then, she was extremely happy and directly threw herself into Hardy's arms.
Hardy reached out and hugged Talitha. "Are you feeling better?"
"What do you think? I was beaten up by Natasya. I'm sure you were aware of it, right?" Talitha asked.
"I really didn't know because I've been so busy recently. I had to meet clients and handle some business matters. I have a lot of things to deal with," Hardy sighed. "I came to see you immediately after I heard about what happened to you. Is the child all right?"
"No! How would the child be okay when I've been injured?"
"Natasya is really... I don't have anything to say about her. Ouch, I feel bad..." Hardy had a painful expression as soon as he mentioned Natasya.
"Hardy, what's wrong with you?" Talitha asked with concern.
"I don't know what happened to me either. I wanted to blame Natasya, but why am I feeling so uncomfortable? I'm in so much pain."
Hardy's reaction to the blood hex was so bad that he couldn't even blame Natasya? What should he do?
Talitha was worried. "Then let's not talk about her."
Hardy held onto his chest and took a few painful breaths before he recovered. "Talitha, let me accompany you to a medical check-up. You and the child should have a thorough examination so I can rest assured."
Hardy was so considerate. Talitha didn't suspect him at all and she agreed because she thought Hardy really cared about the child in her belly.
Then, Hardy winked at Bevan and took Talitha to the examination room.
The doctor had already received instructions to wait for them. He pretended to do a series of tests for Talitha by extracting her blood and collected a few samples.
When Hardy saw the doctor successfully extracting Talitha's blood, he was relieved and escorted Talitha back to the ward considerately.
When they passed through the corridor, they ran into Natasya, who came to change her bandages. Just then, Talitha immediately grabbed Hardy's hand to assert her dominance.
When Natasya saw Hardy accompanying Talitha, a trace of resentment flashed through her eyes. She came straight over and called in a delicate voice, "Hardy!"
Hardy did not hate Natasya at all, so he ignored Talitha and asked Natasya warmly, "Hey, what are you doing here?"
"I'm here to change my dressings!" Natasya said and leaned in. "I have to change the dressing every day and it feels so uncomfortable."
Talitha couldn't stand it anymore when she saw Natasya come over, "Natasya, are you shameless? Get lost! No one here wants to see you!"
"You don't want to see me, but that doesn't mean that Hardy wants me to leave, right?"
"Yes!" Hardy nodded and he looked at Natasya with a hint of infatuation.
Natasya felt proud when she saw Hardy looking at her and immediately asked, "Hardy, can you accompany me to change my dressing?"
"Okay!" Hardy agreed.
"Hardy, what are you doing? How can you accompany this b*tch? Do you know what she did to me? She almost killed our child!" Talitha cursed in anger.
"Talitha, don't be angry. She is so kind, so how can she harm our child? I am also worried about her since she has become like this. Let me accompany her to change her bandages, okay?"
"No!" Talitha grabbed Hardy's hand tightly. "Don't think about going anywhere with her today!"
