Chapter 1656 Fight a Losing Battle
Valeria took Abbie to the garden while Bobby and Jacelyn brought the children to look at the fishes in the pond. Then, Valeria took Abbie to the pavilion and sat down. "Do you believe me?"
Abbie nodded. "I do!"
"Let me tell you, Leonard isn't a good guy and he's a wolf in sheep's clothing! He has bad intentions, so you must never like him!"
"Why would he have ill intentions?" Abbie knew that Leonard was cunning, but Valeria said that he was a bad person as soon as she saw him Did she know Leonard's purpose?
"He's very vicious. The Floyd family treated him so well, and he even schemed against them. By the way, he slept with countless women after returning to the country. He's so disgusting that he's even worse than Michael!"
"This..." Abbie didn't expect Leonard to be so disgusting.
Valeria took Abbie's hand and said, "A man shouldn't sleep around with so many women, so you must never like someone like him. I suspect that he's been hiding you for so long because he wants to use you."
Abbie knew that Leonard was making use of her from the start, but she didn't dare to act rashly since he was holding Emma captive.
She couldn't show her disgust for Leonard in front of Valeria. If Valeria knew about her hatred towards Leonard and told Richard about it, he would definitely stop Abbie from getting close to Leonard. What would she do then? Since Emma was Michael's child, Abbie felt that Richard and her parents would never accept her daughter.
As Abbie thought of this, she could only pretend to be confused. "Valeria, Leonard is very kind to me now. I don't think he will hurt me since my parents, my brother, and you are all here."
"He's just pretending and he's extremely good at lying!" Valeria was worried that Abbie would like Leonard. "Abbie, do you really like him?"
"I don't know!" Abbie shook her head.
"You can't like him, and I'll never let you be together with that disgusting man! I know that he lied to you because you've lost your memory. Now that you're back, I'll keep you company and help you regain your memory so that b*stard can't control you."
Abbie really wanted to tell Valeria that she didn't lose her memory, but she had to have a reasonable explanation as to why she let Leonard control her like this.
Abbie didn't know if she could tell Valeria about Emma. If Valeria knew that she had given birth to the b*stard's child, she would definitely scold her. By then, Valeria would definitely be very disappointed with her.
Would Valeria help her save Emma? Leonard was so vicious and shameless that it would be extremely difficult to save Emma.
Abbie didn't want to fight a battle that she wasn't confident in winning, and she couldn't allow Emma to get hurt in any way.
The Clark family invited Leonard to dinner in their own hotel at noon and Richard also came over.
Leonard kept filling Abbie's plate with food in order to show his love for her.
However, Valeria interrupted him, "Why did you give Abbie this soup? She doesn't like it."
"And this dish is too sweet. Abbie wouldn't like this dish at all!"
Leonard managed to calm himself down after being embarrassed by Valeria and he even said with a smile, "Did Abbie hate this before? But she liked this very much when she was in the U.S.."
Abbie could clearly feel that Leonard was threatening her, so she didn't refuse him. Meanwhile, Valeria's expression was extremely ugly when she saw this.
Richard had a smile on his face, but his gaze had no warmth in them at all.
Was Leonard wordlessly declaring that he can control Abbie? How could he think highly of himself!?
If it wasn't for the fear of scaring Abbie because she had lost her memory, he would have thrown the bowl of soup toward Leonard and beat the latter up.
Richard didn't say anything for the sake of maintaining the peace, but Valeria couldn't bear it anymore. Then, she pretended to get up to toast Leonard and deliberately poured a glass of wine on him.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Floyd. My hands trembled and I couldn't hold the glass firmly!"
Leonard looked at Valeria with a hostile expression. There was a sense of apology in her tone, but she was completely expressionless. It was obvious that she did it on purpose.
Leonard gave Valeria a cold look, but she smiled at the Clark family and said, "I'm going out to clean it up."
When Valeria saw Leonard leave, she put down her glass and said, "I'll go out too."
Richard raised the corner of his mouth and said meaningfully, "Valeria, be careful!"
When Valeria nodded with a smile and left, Abbie didn't need to ask to know what she was going to do. Although Abbie was also relieved to see Valeria deal with Leonard, she remembered how cunning he could be. Would Valeria be fine?
Leonard was smoking in the corridor outside when Valeria was coming over to vent her anger. When he saw her, he sneered and said, "Valeria, did you do it on purpose?"
"Isn't that obvious?" Valeria didn't deny it. Instead, she walked up to Leonard and stopped beside him. "I'm so f*cking disgusted by you when I see how desperate you are to please Abbie! How shameless can you be? Do you have a sense of accomplishment by bullying someone who has lost her memory ?"
"Hm? You're thinking too much. I really like her! She is the most beautiful, kind, and lovely person I have ever seen!"
"That has nothing to do with you at all! Someone as vicious as you doesn't deserve to like Abbie."
Leonard sneered. "I don't need a reason to like someone. Madam Howard, I'm afraid you'll be very disappointed with how this will end!"
Valeria also sneered. "Leonard, I will never allow Abbie to be together with such a disgusting person like you! Don't even dream about it!"
"You can just wait and see!"
Valeria was so enraged by Leonard that she sent a message to William furiously. "Leonard is so shameless! Does he think that he has control over Abbie? I think Abbie is attracted to him, so what should we do now? If they really end up together, I'll be so angry that I'll probably explode."
William comforted her. "Don't be angry, I'm sure that Leonard won't succeed."
"But her attitude toward him is really different. She even ate all the dishes that she didn't like before this. She was still in a daze when I said that I hated Leonard. There's one more thing that I feel very strange about her. How could she be so skilled in feeding children? I only managed to do it after practising with the nanny for a long time, so how could she learn it by herself?"
William was in a meeting, but he was stunned for a moment after reading Valeria's message and he immediately asked, "What's going on? Tell me in detail."
Valeria told her about how naturally Abbie fed Cade. "Abbie looks exactly like a mother when she carried Cade. I don't think it's a misunderstanding and I could really feel a maternal aura from her."
William read Valeria's message repeatedly, and he suddenly had an idea.
Could this be? If his guess was true, then things would be different.
William immediately wrote a message and sent it to Jaxon. "Go and investigate the hospital where Leonard's girlfriend gave birth! I suspect that the child is perfectly fine!"
