Chapter 1337 Destructive For Her
Guns were available everywhere in the States. There were about a few hundred shooting incidents every year, and the severity of the dangers was not to be underestimated. When Michael heard there was a shooting, his first reaction was to hide at a safe place with Abbie.
The electricity at the city hall had been cut off, and the staff had closed off the entrance. Only crackling sounds were heard outside.
Abbie was extremely scared and curled up in Michael's arms. "Oh no! What should we do now? I'm so scared!"
"Don't be afraid. With me around, I won't let anyone hurt you." Michael comforted her.
The explosion outside lasted for more than ten minutes before the police arrived. A large number of armed policemen came to maintain the order. After such an incident, the city hall naturally would not be open anymore.
Michael took Abbie back to the car safely and left the city hall without stopping.
As such an incident happened, they didn't have the mood to get their marriage license anymore. Abbie insisted on going home, so Michael could only send her back.
Seeing Abbie come back with a pale face, Helen felt relieved and worried at the same time. "Abbie, why are you so pale? Did something happen?"
"Nothing happened. Mom, I'm going upstairs to lie down."
As Abbie refused to tell, Helen could only call Richard. "Richard, Abbie came back but she didn't look so good. Did she fight with Michael?"
"No, she was scared!" Richard replied. "I arranged for people to put some firecrackers at the place where she and Michael were headed to. The crackers blew up a car, and the gun and ammo in the car exploded as well. I also got some people to put on a show and scream, saying that it's a terrorist attack. Since they were a large number of policemen, and Abbie and Michael know nothing about it, they must be pretty scared by this."
"How can you scare her like this? What if she's traumatize?"
"Then she'll stay home. Otherwise, she'll be bewitched by Michael." Richard, the mastermind behind all these, said proudly, "Mom, stop Abbie from going out these few days with the excuse that the terrorist attack happened. Make her stay home for a while."
When Abbie closed her bedroom door and turned on her phone, she saw that Valeria had sent her a message. "Abbie! Congratulations on your marriage. When you come back, I have a present for you!"
Abbie sighed and replied with frustration, "Don't congratulate me. I failed to get my marriage license today."
"How come? What happened?"
"Valeria, let me tell you. We were in a shooting incident. Michael and I were filling in our forms when there were shooting sounds outside and loud explosions. They even blew up a car which caused a big fire, and many police came. I'm still terrified now."
"Such a terrible thing happened? Are you okay?"
"Apart from being terrified, I'm fine."
"Then rest first. Get your marriage license two days later."
"That's the only way."
Valeria couldn't figure it out and she muttered to herself, "I don't understand. Why would anyone attack the city hall?"
As soon as William came out of the bathroom, he heard Valeria, so he asked, "What attack?"
"Abbie and Michael went to the city hall to get their marriage license, and there was a terrorist attack. Abbie was terrified, and they didn't get their license. Honey, why did this happen? Did they choose the wrong date to go?"
"Well..." William thought about what Valeria said. Could it be that Richard was behind this?
William then sent a message to Richard to probe. "Were you the one who set up the so-called terrorist attack?"
Richard replied, "So what if it was me?"
"Was it really you? Don't you think you're going too far?"
"Don't tell on me. William, don't you dare tell Michael what I did. This is between him and me. It would be his redeeming feature if he managed to obtain the marriage license with Abbie."
William couldn't help laughing. "I won't tell Michael about this. You can settle this among yourselves, and I will help no one! But with that said, if Michael manages to get the marriage license with Abbie, does that mean you won't oppose them anymore?"
"Yes. If Michael succeeds in doing that, I won't be opposing them anymore. The only condition is he has to prove himself to me."
"Richard, make sure you don't overdo things. As a bystander, I have to be honest with you. Isn't your purpose for Abbie to be happy and contented? If her happiness could only be given by Michael, why are you not supporting them?"
"Is Michael sincere enough? When I was pursuing Braelynn, you gave me such a hard time. But for Braelynn's sake, didn't I endure it all and bear the humiliation? Yet what did Michael do? That jerk thought that just because Abbie likes him back, he could do whatever he wants? Never did he once ask for my permission. I have been too kind to him!"
"It's not that Michael doesn't want to ask for your permission. But he is still guilty about Abbie losing her memory, and he is afraid that you wouldn't accept him."
"That's enough. You don't need to be the mediator. I know what I'm doing. Let me remind you again. Don't ever tell Michael what I'm doing, or I will not let you go."
William shook his head after reading Richard's message. He wanted to help Michael, but since Richard had made his petition, William was caught in the middle and put into an awkward predicament.
So he could only let Michael comprehend this by himself. He couldn't always help Michael anyway.
After Azalea sent the message to Emily, she waited for Emily to complain to Callum. Callum should be furious after finding out that the bodyguards had treated her that way, shouldn't he?
He would surely call the bodyguards at the old mansion to reprimand them immediately. Then the servants would surely hurry over to welcome her back to the old mansion.
Azalea was excited when she thought about it. At that time, she would surely show them who was boss.
Since she was the eldest daughter of the Floyd family, she had to have the temperance of a prestigious young lady. For the sake of getting the servants to submit to her and be in awe of her, Azalea thought she had to dress beautifully. She could appear dazzling in front of the servants, and they would look at her differently.
As Azalea thought this, she started dressing herself up. After the hustle, Azalea looked at her phone, but there was no response at all.
What was going on? Didn't Emily tell Callum about the incident?
Azalea was unhappy and sent another message to Emily, to which Emily replied, "I've already told your dad. He promised to look into it."
"Why hasn't he done anything after a few hours? Mom, I'm waiting."
"That's enough. Isn't it quite late at night over there? The servants need to rest. Just go to sleep and wait until tomorrow!"
Azalea felt that it was a waste of her time and was furious. How could she sleep yet because of the time zone difference?
"Mom, ask my dad to hurry up. Ask him to send someone to fetch me immediately. I can't sleep yet."
Emily frowned as she read Azalea's message. Azalea was selfish and did as she pleased. It was no wonder that the Floyd family didn't like her.
Even though Emily was her mother, Emily thought she had gone too far. What would the servants think of her? Emily knew that she couldn't spoil Azalea as that would only be destructive for her. So Emily then ignored Azalea.
