Chapter 29
Emily's POV
The white paper under Fiona's hand was scratched by her, but she didn't seem to notice.
I knew she must be very angry with me right now, but she couldn't punish me.
I wanted to say more, but Fiona angrily interrupted me and threw me out of the office. I went back to my desk and had just sat down when the project staff surrounded me.
"Emily! Did Mr. Vincent send you home that day?"
"Oh my God! I'm so jealous of you, Emily! I also want to ride in Mr. Vincent's car."
"I was drunk that night and didn't know what was going on. It was Mr. Vincent's assistant, Miss Lucy, who told me all this."
My colleagues gathered around me curiously and wanted me to tell them about that day, but I had already returned home after I became conscious that day and didn't know how I got out of the hotel.
"Emily! You're so lucky, honey! You have an alum who is the CEO's assistant! She managed to get Mr. Vincent to drive you home!"
Lilly excitedly shouted in my ear. The other colleagues also looked at me enviously. I had to pretend to be embarrassed and lower my head to work.
"It's all thanks to Ms. Cady. If she hadn't worried that it wasn't safe for me to go home alone, I don't think Mr. Vincent would have chosen to send me home as an intern."
"It's work time! Who permitted you to chat in the office!"
Fiona's voice startled me, and my colleagues looked at each other and scrambled back to their workstations.
Fiona seemed to be in a very bad mood and her tone was very stern with a cold face.
I thought Fiona was going to come after me after she sent all the employees to their workstations. I waited for a long time, the papers on my desk were almost gone, but still did not wait for her to come to my desk.
I looked up at her, Fiona did not go back to her office, she was standing in front of the office door looking at me. She had a very scary look in her eyes.
I always thought Andre must have told Fiona something and that's why she hated me so much. I'm almost sure she'll come at me in a more devious way!
"What is she doing there? Supervising our work?"
"Frankly, I've never liked Fiona. she's always put the key to the success of all her projects on herself."
"She must have been jealous of the others yesterday because no one asked her for a drink. That's why she snitched on Mr. Vincent!"
Maybe it was because Lucy was my alumni, or maybe they also thought it was impossible for me, a fresh graduate intern, to cross paths with Andre. So the colleagues believed me.
I heard them whispering about Fiona, and some bold employees even looked at her with disgust where Fiona couldn't see.
Fiona was always too strict with her employees, which made many of them very unhappy with her.
I wasn't surprised by their complaints about Fiona, but I was surprised by some of the comments.
"Does Ms. Cady often take credit for all the success of her projects?"
Although Fiona always gives me a hard time putting me in many jobs because of Andre. But I thought she should be a very capable person, otherwise, Andre couldn't have made her the head of the project department.
"Yes, Emily. Although I've only just joined the company for six months, I've followed several projects. The only one who was rewarded after each successful project was Ms. Cady."
Lilly carefully glanced at Fiona who had already returned to the office and leaned over to whisper in my ear to continue talking, "Ms. Cady was also a very capable person before, that's what some experienced seniors told me. But ever since she was promoted she has always been forcibly occupying the achievements of others."
I couldn't believe it. I didn't understand Fiona's purpose in doing this. Wasn't she afraid that Andre would find out?
"Hasn't anyone gone to expose her to Mr. Vincent?"
"There was an employee who tried to expose Ms. Cady, but she fired him before he could meet Mr. Vincent."
Gosh!!! Has this department become Fiona's domain?!
"Emily, I think if you want to expose her to Andre, you have to have enough evidence first. Although you are Andre's girlfriend, Fiona has been in the company for a long time, and Andre should trust her a lot. If you don't have evidence to prove that Fiona forcibly occupies other people's achievements. I don't think Andre will punish her."
I had made an appointment with Susan to hang out after work before I fell asleep yesterday, so I took a cab straight to the apartment I had rented earlier. I headed to the mall with Susan and while I was picking out my clothes I told Susan about my innermost doubts.
I felt I needed to tell Andre what a bully Fiona was, but Susan stopped me from doing so.
"Su, I agree with you, but I can't gather evidence in the office. Fiona is there every day. She's watching me all the time, and there's no way I can get the people she's bullied to testify on my behalf."
"Don't worry, Emily, there's always a way, after all, you're just starting. After you start working on the project, if Fiona treats you like everyone else, won't that be proof?"
Susan always comes up with ideas that I would never have thought of. I think she has a very good plan.
Fiona was just occupying someone else's results, and there was no real damage to the company. I could wait until I had enough evidence before exposing her. If we let her continue to be so domineering and do what she wants, the company's best employees will all leave one day because of her!
"Popular actress Miss Kelly Simon has finished her work abroad and will return to meet everyone soon. "
The advertising screen in the mall suddenly started to broadcast the news.
I was trying on clothes when I heard the news that Kelly was coming back here, and then I froze in the fitting room with my dress for a long time until Susan urged me to come out of the fitting room.
Some of Kelly's fans heard the news and hugged each other in excitement around the commercial screen.
They were excitedly talking about throwing a big welcome ceremony for Kelly when she returns.
I was originally one of those who loved Kelly. She's beautiful, a great actress with many great credits. But now I'm a couple with Andre, and Kelly is Andre's ex-wife.
"Emi? Emily? Are you okay? Should we go home first?"
"Nope. Let's go."
I suddenly lost the mood for shopping and put my clothes back in place and left the mall with Susan.
When I got home in the evening, I lay in bed, tormented by anxiety and restlessness inside.
Andre would not be home for another two days. Did he know that Kelly was coming back home?
I knew very well that Kelly had left the country only because of her normal work. She would be back as soon as her work was over. Will Kelly want to come back to Andre?
Before I said goodbye to Susan today, she told me to trust Andre's feelings for me. But I still can't help searching the website for news about him and Kelly.
Kelly and Andre got married because she was pregnant. So would Andre marry her again for Kate?
I immediately picked up my phone and tried to call Andre, but I gave up when I opened Andre's call page.
If Andre was busy, would I bother him? I should have trusted him.
"Hello, baby? Is that you? Why aren't you talking?"
