Chapter 37

Andre's POV
While Emily was out answering the phone, my phone started ringing. I picked it up and it was Lucy's update on the handling of the news on the internet, "Mr. Vincent, the staff in our PR department have done their best to remove the information from the internet, but it's spreading so fast that it may take a long time."
"I don't care how long it takes, but you need to make the news disappear, Lucy, go check the ID of the person who posted the news, I need to know who is planning the whole thing."
"Sir, we are checking about what you said, and nothing has come up yet. Moreover, I suspect that the person who posted the news has other companies as background. His ID registration information is very concise without any loopholes."
"No matter how much time it takes, we must find out who is hiding in the shadows and planning all this."
I hung up the phone and then I got a tap on my head. jane's voice came into my ears.
"How could you be so careless as to let Andre get hurt!"
She was reprimanding Emily for not taking care of me and was even blaming Emily for causing me to get hurt because she was so careless.
I wanted to get up to help Emily, I couldn't let her be scolded by Jane, but the pain from the wound made me fall back on the bed again.
"Andre! What happened? How are you feeling?"
I moved so much that both Emily and Jane rushed into the room at the sound of the voice, Wilson followed behind Jane, Emily got to my bedside first and asked how I was doing.
"My wound is a little sore, it might have split."
"I'll go get a doctor right away!"
I didn't lie to Emily, I could feel the wound on my back opening up again and blood flowing out. But I wasn't afraid of the little pain. I sent Emily to the doctor because I had something to say to Jane.
  "Andre. How are you?"
Jane came up to me after Emily left. Her hand caressed my face, her face full of worry and concern for me.
"Mom, I'm fine. Don't worry." I looked at her firmly, "I can't blame Emily for my injury, you shouldn't have hit her! She is my lover!"
Jane's expression was a little serious. She was not a strong woman, and I knew that she would give up all her grace and grooming to hit Emily this time because she was worried about me.
I appreciated Jane's concern for me, but I couldn't just let Emily be hurt by her like that.
"Why did you protect her after you were hurt so badly for her?"
"Mom, you can't blame Emily for this. no one would have expected the steel pipe to suddenly come loose. And the steel pipe couldn't hurt Emily where she was standing, and I ran over and got hit by it because I was worried about her." I paused, "You owe Emily an apology, Mom."
When Jane heard my words, her expression was no longer serious, but she still didn't say yes to my apology to Emily.
"Emily has done well enough this time, Mom. Whenever she's home and has free time, she prepares the food we like for Kate and me. Kate is also very fond of Emily, who saved her life and was very nice to her."
I told Jane all about the time Emily had taken care of Kate and me.
She listened patiently and finally stopped being serious.
"All right. I promise you, Andre, that I will apologize to Emily if she was very attentive to you and Kate. But I want you to promise me one thing. Don't let her work for your company anymore. I want her to quit her job and focus on taking care of you."
Jane is a very reasonable mother. If she feels she has done wrong, then she will go and apologize. But Jane's request for Emily to give up her job was too much for me to accept.
"No, Mom. Emily deserves to have her own life and her job, and I have no right to take away what she deserves, and neither do you. And Emily has been able to take charge of the project on her own. If she leaves now, it's a loss for my company."
  Emily's POV
When I returned to the hospital room with the doctor, I don't know why I always felt a bit of stiffness in Andre's room.
I don't know what conversations Andre and Jane had during this time. All my attention was on Andre's wound that had opened up again.
"How's his wound, doctor? Does it need another suture?"
I was worried that Andre's actions earlier would result in him needing another trip to the operating room. Even though it was a simple stitch, I couldn't help but be scared.
"This gentleman's wound is just a little open, it doesn't affect his recovery, and he doesn't need to undergo another surgery. But you should also be careful when taking care of him and try not to let the wound get wet or crack again."
The doctor smiled and told me that Andre's wound was no big deal. I nodded took note of his instructions and escorted the doctor out of the room.
"Here are the painkillers the doctor prepared for you, Andy. Let me know if you feel any pain. Now I'm going to get you some water."
My face still hurt a little from where Jane had hit me. I didn't look in the mirror but I thought my face should have swollen up. But I didn't have time to care about that, only about whether Andre's body was in any other condition.
"Come here a minute, Emily," Jane suddenly called my name.
I was a little surprised and didn't dare to go to her side.
Andre grabbed my hand and encouraged me before I dared to go to Jane's side, "Do you have something to say, Mrs. Jane Vincent?"
I can't help but be nervous when I talk to Jane. After Andre's injury, I was even more afraid to face her. I hadn't taken care of Andre, and I was worried that Jane would make me leave him.
"I'm sorry, Emily. I want to apologize for what I just did. I shouldn't have hit you, I did the wrong thing."
  I couldn't believe my ears.
Jane would apologize to me for hitting me earlier. I had always thought that a lady from an elite family like hers would never apologize to anyone, and Bella had never apologized to me for her behavior. Although I know Jane is different from Bella. She is more elegant, more graceful, she is more of a lady than Bella. But I never thought that one day, she would apologize to me!
"I accept your apology, Mrs. Vincent. But I don't blame you, I understand your anger very well. You did all this because you care about Andre, and I don't resent you."
I accepted Jane's apology, and I understood why Jane had hit me. She is not just a lady, she is a mother. Every mother can't control her emotions when her child is hurt, and I understand all these.
"Thank you for your understanding, Emily. I have one more request, and I hope you will grant it."
  "Mom."
Andre seemed to know what Jane was going to say and frowned to interrupt her.
I looked at Jane suspiciously, wondering what she had to ask that I could accomplish.
"Go ahead, Mrs. Vincent. If I can do it, I'll do my best to get it done."
"I would like you to quit your job at Andre's company and focus on taking care of Andre. kate doesn't need you to worry about her, I will bring her to live with me. During this time you only need to take care of Andre's diet and wounds."
I think Jane should have already said this to Andre once, but Andre did not agree, otherwise he would not want to interrupt Jane's words. She was asking me now because she wanted me to have a different answer from Andre, so she wouldn't need to have a psychological burden.
"I am sorry, Mrs. Vincent, but I am not in a position to grant your request. I will do my best to take care of Andre, but I will not resign. You can rest assured that I will give the important work in my hands to someone else so that I will have more time to take care of Andre, and when Andre recovers, I will continue my work in the company."
