Chapter 33

Emily's POV
　　"Oh my God! Andy???? Kate? Why didn't you guys tell me I was coming back so I could pick you up at the airport."
　　I was about to go make dinner when Andre walked in from outside holding Kate's hand. The maid immediately went up and took the suitcase from Andre's hand and brought it upstairs.
　　I couldn't believe my eyes, and excitedly went up and hugged Andre.
　　"Because Daddy wanted to give Emi a surprise! Emi, I missed you so much!"
　　"I missed you too, sweetie. What do you want to eat for dinner? I'll make it for you." I knelt to hug Kate.
　　I was very happy to have them back and made a lot of food that Andre and Kate liked, and Kate went to bed after dinner after watching a little children's program.
　　Andre and I went back to the bedroom after putting Kate to bed. I leaned into Andre's warm embrace and felt much better.
　　"Andy. Can you tell me why you guys are back so soon and are Jane is home too? Why didn't you and Kate spend more time with her there?"
　　I was happy to have Andre back with me, but I thought about how sad Jane must be to lose her father, and I still hoped Andre could comfort her.
　　"Jane has Wilson with her, who can take care of her better than I can, and Lucy called to tell me that there was a lot of work piling up at the office and I had to get it all done as soon as possible. The most important thing is that Kate misses you so much that she wanted to come back to see you as soon as the funeral was over."
　　"Is Kate the only one who misses me? Did you come back just for work?"
　　I asked Andre, pretending to be angry, and he came to cheer me up by seeing my expression. Then he saw the file that was placed by my bedside.
　　"What's this? A new project for the company?"
　　"Don't you know? Fiona said that you gave it to her. She's now put me in charge of the evaluation of this mall."
　　I was a little surprised by Andre's reaction. He didn't seem to know about the existence of this document. But all new projects in the company are carried out with Andre's approval before the evaluation can begin to follow up, and now Andre was telling me he didn't know about it.
　　"I'm pretty sure I never gave Fiona this document. But she also has the right as head of the project department to decide on new tasks when I'm not in the company. How could she leave such a complicated job to you? I instructed her to take good care of you."
　　"What did you just say? Did you tell Fiona to take care of me? Why? You promised me that we were only subordinate in the company."

　　Andre's concern for me I could understand, but he had no idea that this woman he had entrusted with his orders would never follow them.
　　"Okay. But I think maybe it's because of your orders that Fiona thinks I'm a powerless loser. She gave me difficult work every single day, probably to force me out of the company."
　　I didn't tell Andre that Fiona liked him. Although there was a chance that Fiona would be fired for it after I told him, I was more worried that Andre wouldn't choose to fire Fiona even if he knew how she felt about it.
　　"Looks like I'll need to talk to her again tomorrow."
　　Andre's hand stroked over my body. I don't even know when he unbuttoned my pajama top.
　　Andre had only been gone for three days, but I missed him so much.
　　I missed the good morning kisses he gave me every morning when I got up and the intensity of his pounding into my body. I wrapped my arms around Andre's neck and unzipped his pajamas to reveal his strong body.

　　"Nathan? You're the head of Jack's Mall?"
　　I arrived at the appointed restaurant and there was already a man sitting at the seat I had reserved. I walked over and found that it was Nathan, who had helped me several times.
　　"Emily? Are you the person in charge of this project? I'm sorry, I don't distrust you, but I remember telling me that you were just an intern. The mall investment is too complex it should be done as a team. I thought your company would send at least two people to talk to me."
　　Nathan looked behind me for a long time, but there wasn't anyone following me to his side.
　　He looked at me in surprise, unable to believe that I had come to meet with him alone.
　　"Nathan, I'm sorry. I don't know how to explain this to you. But I'm the only one responsible for coming to meet with you today. I am also in charge of the risk assessment of the mall."
　　I didn't know how to explain to Nathan what had happened to me at the company, or how to tell him that the project had been slipped to me by Fiona to make things difficult for me.
　　She probably had no intention of investing in the mall at all.
　　"Emily. Are you being embarrassed by your boss? The lady who left you in the hospital last time?"
　　Nathan was so concerned about what happened to me at the company that he even forgot the purpose of my meeting with him.
　　I avoided his question and asked him directly about the mall situation. "Nathan, I'll answer you later about that question. I need to ask you some questions right now and I hope you can answer me honestly."
　　I didn't know what questions I was supposed to ask Nathan. Thanks to Lilly, she gave me a copy of the operating procedures on how to evaluate the mall before I left the office to meet Nathan.
　　I followed the instructions on the document and asked a few questions, and Nathan was very cooperative. He answered every one of my questions very carefully.
　　"Nathan, I've seen the map around your mall. It's a suburb but there were residents and even companies there a long time ago, but I don't understand why there wasn't any mall there before."
　　I have always had questions about the address of this mall. I couldn't understand how a suburb that was so prosperous and fairly well-policed could not have a major mall there.
　　"Emily. Frankly, I don't know how to answer your question. I don't know much about the situation. I only returned to this country a few months ago, and this is the first project I need to complete here. So I don't know exactly what happened before that address."
　　I couldn't tell if Nathan was lying or not, I was willing to take his word for it, but the address always made me feel uneasy and suspicious.
　　"Nathan. Do you have time this weekend? I think I need to see that area in person. Do you have the construction plans with the mall? I need to see it and take pictures to give to the company."
