CHAPTER FIFTY-SEVEN.

(Meliora's POV)

Just like Suzanne fondly said, they were obviously butterflies in my tummy at the moment and the weirdest thing about these butterflies was that it tickled me really softly which gave me this sensation. I couldn't say if I needed to smile or even laugh. Anytime I was getting to the point of laughing, it obviously sensed that, and I could use no other words than saying that the butterflies kept mellowing down.

You see I kind of liked it, but on the other hand it made my heart skip really fast. I didn't know why I felt this way all of a sudden, but definitely, I couldn't lie that I didn't know the reason why I had begun to feel this way.

If I wasn't aware of what was happening, I could have matched the sensation to that of an insect crawling on my bare skin and at the same time I found myself smiling instead of shouting at the sight of the insect.

It was obvious that Martha wasn't aware of all that was happening, she must have been too excited that Brian was awake now, and not just awake, he was doing pretty fine, he was strong enough to fight off the poison, and definitely she was the happiest woman at the moment, at least she was never going to be a single mother, and not to even have the thoughts of having to bear and take care of the child alone.

”All hail the Lycan king” a man cheered in the crowd, his voice was loud enough to get everyone's attention even as the whole place was crowded and a bit noisy per se.

It was obvious that the Lycan king was very close, though I had put out my head, my eyes darting front and back to see the Lycan king, yes, I definitely wanted to see the man who had saved me, and if there was anything I needed to do, I had better find a way to see him, and thank him for saving my life.

I moved a step forward, my hand still holding that of Martha, she stared at me trying to see what I intended to do. I knew that look. Martha was really interested in what I had intended to do next. At the same time, I didn't want her to know that I was too excited that the Lycan king was close, and I was eager to see him.

“I know that look Liora, that's from someone who is …” she said her words hanging in the air.

I swallowed the lump of saliva in my throat as I tried not to show my emotions and pretended not to understand what she was exactly trying to say.

“What do you mean Martha ?” I asked, staring back at her, meanwhile I tried to give that look which I really felt she would definitely misinterpret and then understand that I wasn't eager to see the Lycan who was approaching.

“I mean everyone here wants to see him obviously, and not like you aren't here to see him too” I continued trying to justify my actions. I knew Martha didn't believe what I had just told her earlier, it all was written all over her face. She was about to say another word, when a loud horn was blown a few steps away.

I couldn't have guessed right, but I was sure that he was here, all I needed was to turn back and look straight into his eyes, I couldn't have imagined if he had changed a bit from the last time I saw him, while I kept on fighting with my emotions, my desperate eyes were still fixated on Martha.

I took a deep breath and clenched into Martha's hands which were still on mine, as I was ready to turn back to him, I might even be lucky and could be seen by him. As I was about to turn my head towards him, I noticed that there was a pause from the crowd. It was obvious that everyone was staring at the Lycan king, but what seemed to amaze me was the reason why he had stopped. To make matters look weird, he had stopped almost close to where I stood, it was only a few people who were standing between us.

My head tilted slowly as I tried to uncover the mystery and get to the bottom line.

Why was there a stop ? What exactly was going on behind me that I failed to know? Is there a possibility that the Lycan king has recognized me without seeing my face ? Or We it not the Lycan king anymore who rode the horse ?

I felt some surge of adrenaline course through my veins as I thought about all of this, it felt like I was fighting with my thoughts, and it didn't want to give in to the assumptions made, Though I had expected Martha to look at me and tell me what exactly was wrong, but it was another case, she wasn't even looking at me, talk more of telling me what was going on exactly.

By this time, I knew I needed to turn back as my heart raced for the worst case scenario, but just as soon as I summoned the courage to look at the Lycan king something mysterious happened.

“Elder Morris needs you at the nursery this minute” one of the elder Morris maids said as she walked up to where I stood.

Her eyes seemed teary, just like someone who had seen danger with her bare eyes, if it was a person.

“What's happening ?” I asked as I stared back at the young lady who had just finished speaking to me.

“He just slumped, we really don't know what's wrong, it's an emergency” she said.

At this point, I couldn't say if I needed to look back at the Lycan king who I had been eager to see or go with the young lady to the nursery.

“Who slumped ?” I asked as my voice was above a whisper, my eyes blinked as I feared for the worst.

My eyes widened, and my eyes dropped as Martha and I exchanged glances immediately the words fell from the young lady's mouth.

”It is…”
