CHAPTER SEVENTY-ONE.

Gabriel's POV 

My eyes closed and my body in the pool of the water in the bath tub, yet I was able to reach out to the glass of wine placed in front of me.

I just couldn't deny the fact that everything had been uneasy since my loyal subject had informed me that he was confined to the house, and was secured tightly.

I took a sip from the glass wine, though it had a nice taste, but I didn't enjoy it a bit as I was faraway in thoughts, I wished that that wasn't true.

Although I would have intervened, I knew the power I had, but I believed that things shouldn't be done in a hard way. I opened my eyes, after a while as I stared at the small sized clock.

I burned in fury, this was the height of it all, it was almost three hours, and I was sure that Meliora was still held in confinement, an additionally loyal subject who I had sent out again to check on her lease wasn't back yet.

Just like the Alpha had said, I knew she worked in the nursery, but I couldn't say what had happened or why she had been kept in the house locked up.

And at this, I guessed I needed to talk to the Alpha immediately to move her out and set her free if he eventually doesn't know what was happening, one of the reasons I had come to meet with him yesterday to inform him that I would love to take Meliora though. He had told me that he was going to speak to Meliora and get back to me.

I walked out of the bathroom and moved into my room, instructed some of my maids to get me a robe, I needed to go see the king at that moment and confront on why Meliora was being held hostage. I guess it was high time I stopped following the rules, if there was anything I was the king. I had a massive authority over his lifetime.

How dare he put Meliora in confinement without a reason? Even though he fully knew that I was interested in her, he was the only one I had this on the pack, not even the elders.

One of my maids brought the robe into the room and bowed her head while placing the robe on the bed. I immediately instructed the guards to inform the Alpha council that I wanted to see the Alpha privately to have a word.

I didn't like the sign of this, and I believed that the Alpha should know what exactly was going on his pack except he was ignorant of everything. My guards left to inform the Alpha that I wanted to have a word with him.

On hearing that, the Alpha had made sure things were in order as he waited my arrival to his house, though he had thought that I had left the whole place back to mine.

Three maids, Six guards, and two elders strode with me exactly as I headed out to meet the Alpha. I knew he must probably be scared of my coming, and I had instructed him that I needed him to be at the house alone.

I strode through the hallway and navigated to the other side of his building where his chambers was, and as soon as he saw me, he rushed out to greet me.

“Good afternoon king” he said as he bowed his head to me.

I knew at this point I was annoyed, and I hated that part of me because I could destroy things in a twinkle of in eye, I gave him a disgustful look as I had expected him to know why I was there already.

I didn't say a thing, but I just continued to stare at him, there was utmost silence in the environment.

“Please my king can you come in?” He asked with pleading eyes.

I nodded my head, as I walked ahead of him into the room, he followed me into the room, I instructed my subjects to wait outside and secure the area.

“I'm sorry king, I had thought you had left already” he asked 

“Where is Meliora ?” I asked with a commanding tone.

“Meliora ?” He asked like he didn't understand what I was trying to say, or like he had never heard of Meliora's name before.

“Where is Meliora” I asked again as I burned with fury.

“Meliora should be at the nursery, helping out Elder Morris at the moment, What happened king ?” she asked.

“I don't think she is at the Nursery helping out” I objected I annoyance as my voice rose 

“I don't understand My king, I am definitely sure she's there?” He responded.

“She is confined somewhere in the Nursery, no one allowed her to leave” I yelled. 

“Confined ?  That's not true, I don't think that happened, who would dare do that” he said 

“This is exactly what happened” I replied in annoyance.

I didn't like any of this that was happening, was he trying to say that he didn't know Meliora was confined in the room alone, was this an act of pretense or, I had gotten false information from my subjects, this was exactly confusing as I stopped talking for a while.

I immediately instructed one of my guards to get Elder Morris from the Nursery for questioning. The Alpha felt like everything balled down to Elder Morris, she was in charge of the Nursery, and she knew everything going on there, and she would also be transparent with her words.

I stood impatiently for Elder Morris, and as soon as she got in, she was questioned by the Alpha. Even as the was bowing to greet me 

“Elder Morris, where is Meliora at the moment?” He asked as he turned to her.

“Meliora is at the Nursery” Elder Morris replied as she looked at the Alpha 

“I got an information that she is confined in the house at the moment” The Alpha asked angrily again 

“No that's not true” she responded.

“Elder Morris, Did anything happen ?” The Alpha turned to her again.

“Meliora, had a chest pain today while we approached you the other time, she needed rest” She replied

“Chest pain ?” I exclaimed.

“Yes, I guess she overreacted when she saw the Alpha, I guess she was nervous” Elder Morris replied 

“I don't think that's what happened” I shouted.

Elder Morris trembled  with fear as she stared at me, I could see the fear in her eyes as she spoke.

“This is the truth King, I solely instructed everyone to let her rest, maybe someone has misinterpreted that for confining her to the room” Elder Morris said as she knelt down.

I shook my head, trying to understand what was really going on. That face Meliora gave me the other time wasn't as a result of chest pain.

I turned to Elder Morris as I lifted my head with annoyance.

“Bring me Meliora this moment” I ordered.
