CHAPTER EIGHTY-TWO.

(Martha's POV)

Could I have heard right? Or was it that I had started hearing things as a result of the pregnancy? Selene's statement stung me like a bee just as she was done talking.

“Where are we heading to?” Elder Morris asked, just like she didn't hear her the first time.

“To Martha's house, we are searching there thoroughly,” Selene said, raising her chin.

Elder Morris stared at me with her eyes wide opened, she obviously didn't have an option.

“Oh no! That probably is too soon. Just wait a little, make her speak by all means, she has something she is hiding” Selene said, her fingers dancing to the rhythm of her words as she instructed Elder Morris.

Elder Morris turned to me, with a rigid voice, making sure I got the message.

“You had better start talking now” Elder Morris turned to me with some advice.

“I don't know what you are talking about?I didn't do anything,” I replied.

“It's better you shut your mouth this minute, don't you get it? I saw you” Selene shouted.

I could see her move quickly to where I was, her hands moved swiftly, her hands landed on my cheeks really hard, My ears were almost damaged immediately this happened, I could feel my cheeks swelling up like it was at the brink of explosion.

Tears poured from my eyes as I got my grip. This was too much from Selene. I didn't know her aim, but I was sure that she didn't see Meliora and I yesterday.

She pushed me to the chair, as she didn't mind if I could get hurt, her guards rushed in to tie me down to the chair.

“I'm going to ask you for a last time, don't test my patience” she said staring into my eyes.

“Where is Meliora?” she asked as she took a step closer to me.

My lips trembled, and my legs began to shake. I just didn't know how to respond to this anymore. I was indeed scared of her at this point.

“I don't know where Meliora is, neither do I know what you are talking about,” I said, shaking my head.

“This is exactly why I am trying to be calm, I do not want you to see the other part of me, I had just decided to do things the easy way, but it seems like you like it the hard way,” she said walking towards the window of the room while rolling up her sleeves.

My head moved in her direction as I watched her every step, trying to discover her next move. Although she didn't move, the next action made me weep. Some guards quickly ran into the room with a metallic object, which was used to hit me on my back.

I gnashed my teeth as I endured the pains, I could see Elder Morris' face trying to stop her, I guessed she knew that I was pregnant, I was carrying Brian's child, but Selene couldn't even decipher that, she was just brutal.

After a few minutes, Elder Morris walked towards Selene, it seemed like she wasn't enjoying any of it any longer. I knew she liked me, we were actually very close before all of this occurred.

“They should stop now, she will die” she said to Selene trying to convince her.

Selene raised up one of her hands and immediately, the guard stopped torturing me.

I gasped for air as tears continued to roll down my cheeks, this was too much pain that I couldn't endure.

Meanwhile, Elder Morris and Selene moved to a corner of the room as they began to talk, while I was left alone, even though I wasn't able to hear them, but I knew they were engaging in an intense discussion.

Just after a few minutes, Selene turned around to the guards.

“Untie her she is leading us to her house, we are searching the house right away” she said

My heart skipped again, knowing fully well that Meliora would be inside the house, and if eventually we got to the house Meliora was going to be caught, if not killed. I managed to speak up trying to convince them not to search the house

“I told you Selene, I don't know anything about this?, what do you expect me to say?” I asked, staring at her eyes.

“I don't expect you to say anything anymore, and yes I believe you, but lead the way first” she instructed.

The guards quickly walked in and untied me from the chair, Selene stared, as she waited for me to lead the way to my house.

This was a situation that I just couldn't do anything about, it was crystal clear that there was nothing I could do, I needed to lead the way down there to my house.

One of the guards held my hands tightly as he pushed me to move. I walked out slowly out of the room while Selene and Elder Morris followed behind.

Everyone had begun to stare at us surprisingly as we walked, I was very sure that a lot of people in the pack didn't even know what was going on, I could literally say it was an internal affair.

Selene had asked me to increase my pace and walk faster, but I did all of this to buy myself some time, probably there was going to be a miracle or something, I definitely couldn't take them down to my house, Meliora would be there, and she would be caught and killed this time.

I stopped walking for a moment, However, I looked back to where Selene was standing, I could see her expression.

She was disgusted at the reason why I had suddenly stopped walking.

“I think I know where Meliora would have gone if she tried to escape,” I said, trying to convince them not to go further.

Elder Morris hesitated for a while before speaking to me

“She is lying, shut up and let's move, this is just a way to distract everyone” Selene said, pushing me ahead of them.

“We are searching that house right away” she ordered as we continued to move.

My heart stopped for a moment as I imagined the worst case scenario, Meliora shouldn't be caught at all.

After several minutes of walking, we were close to my house, a tear streamed down my eyes as every step I took made me closer, this was the worst thing that could happen to just anyone, leading your enemy into your own abode to destroy.

The guards quickly went ahead to the door as they broke in, it felt like my heart stopped again as I watched them walk into my house.

“I found something …” one of the guards yelled
