CHAPTER SEVENTY-THREE.
(Meliora's POV)
Her mouth pressed on my ears again as I felt a cold sensation while she talked. This was the best opportunity to at least tell the Alpha what was exactly going on, and how he needed to execute Elder Morris.
To be honest, I wouldn't have believed that Elder Morris was cruel, everyone must have thought that Elder Abigail was the devil, and just all of a sudden there was a change.
“Listen to me carefully” she repeated as she whispered into my ears.
I didn't understand why she was holding me, and I could tell what she had wanted to say this time, probably she wanted to beg me to cover for her since she would be found guilty in some couple of minutes.
“What is it, Elder Morris? I asked as I stared at her in the eyes.
She must have wondered what guts I had pissed just all of a sudden.
“You must not tell the king what has happened Liora” she said this time her voice above a whisper.
I could see her tremble inside even if she pretended to be strong on the outside.
“The moment I walk through that door into the Alphas chambers, I'm going to tell him all of your atrocities and intention, We deserve to know what's going on” I answered
“That's dangerous Liora, you would put the Alpha in trouble” she replied.
“That's none of my business, I'm sure he would be so disappointed in you first for claiming to be his subject and following a bad example, for claiming to be a healer when you are no different with a killer” I said as my words pierced her heart like a sword.
“Think of how the Alpha has helped you, he has taken you in like a daughter, Do not ruin things Liora” she said indirectly pleading as she spoke.
She had actually explained earlier that the Lycan king wanted to be sure I was fine, and I shouldn't say what I wasn't asked. She had also said, informing the Lycan king what had happened might put the Alpha's position at stake.
“I'm not buying that idea, I guess he needs to know about this and by chance put you in your right place” I roared.
However, I stepped forward as I intended to march towards the Alphas chambers, I wasn't going to back down and there was nothing that's going to stop me at this point.
But her next words had me glued to the ground as I paused and stared back at her. I wouldn't call that a bargain, but it sounded so interesting. It was actually going to get me the answer to the question that I needed to know.
“What if I told you everything that happened concerning the Rauna Virus, What if I explained to you the one who had the power and who was in charge, what if I also told you why I had to put up with all of this?” She said, her words spilling like water from a tap.
These were questions that I literally asked myself, I needed desperate answers, but I couldn't get any because no one was willing to say anything to me, and here was a chance to get the answers.
“I didn't have that time to play games, Elder Morris. You deceived me the other time” I said, trying to bring to her notice that I wouldn't be deceived any longer.
“I promise to tell you everything, but you have to play a part in letting them know that you are safe,” she said as she moved closer to me.
“I don't think I can trust you anymore, what guarantee do I have that you are going to tell me everything and not lock me up again?” I asked, my voice spilling out like fire.
“Have this, it's a royal seal, you can't be confined anymore with this, and meet me when the moon rises this night, I will tell you everything” she replied
I stretched out my hands and collected the seal from her, I had a glance of it, before placing it in my pockets back.
“Lead the way” I said.
We both nodded our heads as we agreed on the deal. I was ready to listen to all of this, and yes, I had my plans drafted out as well, I just needed some more time to finish it up.
We strode into the hallway and navigated to the other side of the building, which led us out to the Alphas chambers. My heart raced as I took every step closer to the chamber
I was going to meet him again and this time, I wished I could talk to him, but I don't know if I would have the opportunity to talk to him. There was something about him, but I couldn't just explain.
One of the Alphas' subjects announced our arrival. We both walked in and bowed our heads as we entered the room.
I could see the shocking expression on the Lycan king's face, it seemed like he was shocked to have seen me, probably there was something I didn't know of.
The Alpha nodded his head as he exchanged glances with the Lycan king. Although I didn't understand what was going on, I noticed that my presence was highly recognized. There was silence in the room for a moment.
“Are you fine Meliora ?” the Alpha spoke as he turned to me.
“Yes, I am,” I said, my head still facing the ground.
I noticed a grin on the face of the Lycan King, just like he didn't believe what I said, he seemed like he somehow knew that I was lying that I was fine. I noticed his vigorous shaking of head.
The Alpha exchanged glances with him again, just like they were in the middle of an argument before, and one was trying to prove a point to another.
“We heard you had chest pain, which you had to take medications for?” The Alpha asked again.
I didn't understand as I turned to Elder Morris not understanding what he had just asked, but I managed to speak up.
“Yes, but I'm better now,” I answered, my voice barely above a whisper.
“Were you confined in the room?” Another question erupted, but this time, it wasn't from the Alpha, it was from the Lycan king.
I bowed my head as I tilted it towards the king, I didn't know what to say to him, it felt like he knew something about what happened earlier.
Elder Morris exchanged glances with me as she Ordered me to answer the Lycan king.
“No, I wasn’t confined in the house” I managed to speak.
The king's expression changed again. His face seemed like he wasn't enjoying any of this and like he didn't understand what was going on.
The Alpha turned to the king again as he smiled a bit.
“Like I said earlier, she's safe, she is okay.” The Alpha said to the king.
I knew I was lying, I knew I was taking a big risk, but this was all I needed to do to uncover the truth.
I bowed my head as I slowly, but my eyes were fixed on him asking for help.
