CHAPTER EIGHTY-SIX.
(Meliora's POV)
It actually seemed like my ears were aching, or probably I didn't get to hear him well. But if I was correct I heard right, and I wasn't dumb.
The Alpha's loyal subject tried to get the attention of the person who had just spoken, but it just wasn't working. It seemed like they were carried away with the discussion.
“Meliora needs to be caught, The Lycan king can't have her first if I don't.” the voice said again this time louder.
I didn't understand what was going on, who on earth wanted me, and was trying to make sure that the Lycan king didn't get to me first. What exactly was wrong, it seemed like there was something definitely wrong.
I needed to figure out who had just spoken, although the voice sounded familiar, but I couldn't decipher who had just spoken.
There was no guard in front of the chambers; the only thing that stopped was a light door which could be slid the other way to get into the room.
The loyal subject who I had talked to earlier tried to calm this person, but it still seemed like it was going to take forever to do so.
My hands moved swiftly, as I touched the door, I was easy with it, as I slid it to the other side, to see who had just spoken and to know the reason he or she had said that.
Just as the door slid to the other side of the frame, my eyes met with that of the one who had spoken earlier.
I couldn't tell if my eyes were deceiving me, or I was just seeing something in the dark.
The Alpha stood elegantly, as he spoke I just couldn't understand what he meant by all that he meant.
I looked around to be sure that someone else was inside the room also that had spoken, but it was no different case, he was the only one in the room with the loyal subject.
My heart skipped as I stared at him again, although he hadn't noticed that I had seen him, neither did he have an idea that I was outside.
“Alpha, you need to calm down,” his loyal subject said.
“Don't tell me that, ever. I want Meliora this instant, I want her, but the Lycan king wants her, and I can't object to that, none of us would have her, Where is Meliora?” he said.
“She is outside, she wants to have a word with you” he whispered
It seemed like they didn't know that I could hear them really well from where I stood.
I could see the shock on the Alpha's face as soon as he heard that, from his subject.
“Get her in” his voice was above a whisper.
Immediately, I heard this, I staggered backwards as I headed back to the Alpha's dungeon, making sure I covered up again.
But I knew that I would be too quick if I tried to run now, it was obvious that he was going to get me.
Now, I had a lot of enemies, it was clear that the Alpha also had a side of the predicament upon me. I moved quickly and hid behind the walls of the building as I looked through to see what was going to happen.
The door swung open again as his loyal subject came out from the room again.
“Hello Meliora, Where are you ?You can come in, the Alpha wants to see you now,” he said, opening the door.
As soon as he got out he noticed that I wasn't there, he turned back again and spoke to the Alpha.
“She has disappeared,” he said, turning to the Alpha.
They both dashed out from the room as they started to search out for me, I could see the fierce look on the Alpha's face as soon as he moved out of the room.
“Search for her this minute” the Alpha commanded and at the sound of his voice the other guards dashed out from the room and began to search for her.
As soon as they were all gone, I moved out quickly from where I was and headed back to the Alpha's dungeon. This was the height of it, I was wanted by Elder Morris, Selene and now the Alpha, the only person who I could run to was the Lycan king.
I acted just like the other guards and ran towards their directions, acting like I was searching for Meliora as well.
As soon as the guards followed the loyal subject behind, I navigated through and headed back to the Alphas' dungeon again. I know it could be risky, but I was bent on saving Martha and making sure that we found Brian. My plan was to elope with Martha tonight.
Fortunately, some other guards rushed in as they entered Alpha's dungeon; the man who was inspecting the front gate did not have the time to do so any longer, as it was an emergency.
They had announced that I was close to the environment and I needed to be found and charged with treason.
I just acted calm as I walked into the second gate again making sure I headed straight to where Martha was being laid, no one really paid attention to her at this point, since I had suddenly become a person of interest.
I knew it wasn't going to be easy convincing Martha that I was the one speaking to her, surely, I knew she would think that I am a guard.
I took a step as I monitored the environment, Selene was stinging close to one of the prisoners, it seemed it was another phase of interrogation. While Elder Morris sat quietly behind her as their eyes were fixed on the prisoner.
I took another step as I got a bit closer to Martha, I stood upright as I acted like nothing was wrong before calling out her name in a coded manner.
“Martha, it's me” I said hiding behind the mask, but it seemed like she didn't hear her name,
I moved a bit closer to her again, as I called the name.
“Martha” I said staring at her in the eyes
Although Martha was weak, but she heard her name this time, it was obvious that she understood me perfectly, she adjusted herself from the chair a bit as she stared at me stylishly.
