CHAPTER SIXTY-NINE.

(Meliora's POV)

Everything about this wasn't right, this all happened so quickly and now I couldn't understand why I had been confined in a room.

This has been two hours and no one was allowed to come into the room to even see me.

I looked around the room, and it felt like I was searching out answers to these questions ringing out loud in my head.

Is anyone there ? I asked, banging the door.

This wasn't fair, and I couldn't just understand why I had been kept in here, I had solely come to take my things, when I noticed that I had been locked inside the room.

Like I said earlier this was two hours and not even Elder Morris had come in to say anything, I could feel my legs shake as I tried to stand.

“What was really going on that I didn't know about? What happened to Brian ? Was Martha really aware of whatsoever she had injected into Brian's system? How on earth was this happening and the Alpha had not been informed?”

I had expected Martha to have gone to meet with the Alpha to explain matters to him, except if there was another thing I didn't know about.

I walked from one end of the room to the other for about a million times now and it seemed like everyone had just abandoned me, no one was coming to tell me anything that was really going on, and why I was confined in the house, this was really going against the law.

Not only that, but I managed to sit on one of the chairs close to the bed, as I buried my head in my palms, I had promised myself not to sob anymore, I knew I was going to scale through, but all of this just reminded me of Zoey.

It reminded me of how Zoey had manipulated everything and made sure I was stripped off my position and then even assumed dead now.

The creak of the door brought me back from the land of thoughts as I jerked up to see who was coming into the room. I walked hurriedly and angrily towards the door as I had intended to hit whoever was coming in through that door.

For keeping me confined for hours, For not giving me a sip of water to drink, for an illegal arrest, for all I could remember I didn't commit any crime, it was elder Morris who needed to be placed in confinement.

Just as the door was opened, my hands paused as I stared at the figure who was coming into the room. It was Elder Morris again.

What on earth was she doing here ? I honestly hated seeing her face at this point. I moved a step backwards as she walked into the room, adjusting immediately she shut the door behind her making sure I had nowhere to escape through.

Her steps were slow but précised, she walked to a chair in the room and stood just very close to it without saying any word.

I moved as well, as I took some steps closer to her, if she wasn't ready to start up a conversation, I was definitely in my right mind and ready to start one, and this left me with no other choice than asking the long time question.

“Why am I being confined here Elder Morris?” I asked, staring at her.

I needed her to understand that I wasn't joking about anything, I was misjudged and maltreated.

“You deserved this Liora, Just like I warned you” she said looking straight into my eyes.

“I deserved this?” I muttered as I tried to catch my breath

How on earth was I supposed to deserve this ill-treatment.

“You could have done what was needed, but you refused. You claimed to be sad, and couldn't do the honors of killing your friend's husband right” she said as she sat down on the chair close to her.

“I don't understand, You had a plan of Killing Brian which I objected to, so how is not killing Brian a crime now?” I shouted in annoyance as I needed desperate answers.

“Killing him was not a crime, but you not killing him was the crime” she answers authoritatively, her voice spilling like wildfire.

This could have obviously left to tell her that she was crazy at this point, but I needed to control my emotions and yes the goal was to leave this room.

I needed to meet with the Alpha immediately and report Elder Morris atrocities to him.

“What kind of law is that? Is this what the Alpha has asked us to do? Elder Morris, From the last I checked we were supposed to save the members of the pack” I objected as my voice rose to a scream.

“You could have obeyed, while you were still able to, it's late now, you have to face the consequences” she said.

“This isn't you Elder Morris, you are a good person, you've saved a lot of lives, you've done well for the pack” I said trying to make her remember her good deeds.

“I do not know what you are talking about” she answered with a hint of annoyance in her tone.

“You know this isn't right Elder Morris, you can make a change please” I said as I tried to get closer to her and beg her.

“There's no change, thanks to Martha, the virus is not going to spread out anymore” she smiled.

“Does Martha know what she did to Brian?” I asked as I breathed so loud.

“She doesn't know, and would never know, there are things that must be hidden forever, she believed us, but you didn't” she answered

This was obviously clear, that there was something behind the whole Rauna virus and there was also a motive behind it all.

“I will report this to the Alpha by all means” I said as I gnashed my teeth making sure she understood the gravity of her offense

“Does that really matter now, I don't ever think, it would get to him, someone of high power controls us as well” she responded.

What exactly did she mean by this ? There was exactly someone that they were all working for?

“And who is this person of such high power? I asked as my voice laced with curiosity.

“You would never ever know in your life, you were given a chance, but you failed, and now you are going to be punished by this person who has high powers” she said, her voice exactly like the thunder strike.

This means that the Alpha didn't know about this person and wasn't even aware of whatever was going on, all I needed was to get close to the Alpha and then make sure I tell him everything that has been going on.

“What if you are treading on the wrong path Elder Morris, What exactly do you stand to gain with all of this” I asked, my eyes laced with anger.

“You don't need to know, but I assure you, there is always a reward for everything,” she said, her tone rigid.
