CHAPTER SIXTY.

(Meliora's POV)

The words sounded like sword pieces in my soul as I tried to understand what she was trying to say. I had never heard something of such before,

What was the curse? How on earth was Brian a threat ? What does she even mean by Brian killing everyone?

“The curse, what curse ?” I said as my voice was almost above a scream.

I just couldn't place everything in one piece, this wasn't settling right with me, and I needed to hear and understand this now.

Elder Morris quickly placed her hands on my mouth immediately as she stopped me from screaming. It was obvious that she didn't want anyone to hear.

Nevertheless, some of the patients and workers had turned their heads towards us, as they tried to understand what was going on, at least they wanted to hear as well.

“You should learn to put your voice down young lady” Elder Morris said as her hands met with my mother.

I nodded as I tried to make sure I let her know that I understood what she had just said. She paused for a while before saying anything as she wanted the workers to go back to their positions and not make us some center of attraction.

When she was satisfied and sure that the workers weren't paying attention to us anymore, she moved closer to me.

“No one knows about this, no one should know, else they will panic, and yes Brian has the curse” she responded, her voice barely above a whisper.

This was not what I wanted to hear, for crying out loud, I asked a different question earlier and this was today a different answer, I wasn't ready for this. I wiped the tears on my eyes as I stood up slowly and stared back at Brian's motionless body on the bed.

“What curse? What do you mean ?I've never heard of such” I responded with a low voice.

Elder Morris walked to a table close to the other corner of the room and picked a book. It looked really ancient, but I guessed it was really important to her for her to have kept it this long.

She walked to where I was as she began to flip the pages once after the other, I could sense that she was looking for something

“I just can't say what the pack used to call it then, but the last time this occurred, it wiped out an entire pack of wolves,” Elder Morris said, trying to explain the gravity of the situation as she continued to flip the pages, her eyes working like a robot.

I looked at her as I wondered whatever she was saying, I couldn't say if I needed to believe her, or just ignore whatever she was saying. Suddenly she stopped flipping the pages, as she exchanged glances with me. She drew me nearer to have a proper view of the image which she was trying to buttress.

“This is it, it's the Rauna Curse” Elder Morris said as she breathed heavily while trying to show me.

“Rauna curse” I shouted, my fingers rolling, as I couldn't understand all of it

“Keep your voice low Liora, you can't shout this out” she said as she stared at me.

“Look, we aren't even sure if you are correct about this, Brian was simply attacked by those ambushers and nothing more” I interrupted.

“Yes, he was attacked and that was how he got this, these attackers weren't ready to come over here to kill us all, they decided another means of wiping us out without coming closer, which was creating the Rauna Curse again. We made a mistake of not noticing when Brian and the rest of the injured were brought here, we thought there were mere bites, think about it, how well does that sit with you? These attackers have a mission" she said.

“No, this isn't right, this isn't fair” I said as tears poured down my cheeks.

“Anyhow you want to put it, I'm very sure the Rauna Curse is back” she said as she gnashed her teeth still holding the book.

“Then, we just have to treat Brian and kill the curse if that's the case” I suggested as I walked a step closer.

“No Liora, it isn't as easy as you think” she said as she looked me in the eye.

“I do not understand this, literally this is what we just need to do, and everyone would be safe” I responded as my eyes blinked again.

“The curse is a bit contagious, you need to be careful” she said.

“That leaves us with starting with Brian, we need to treat him immediately and at least that would stop the curse from getting out, No one has it yet” I said as I tried walking towards him

“Liora, You need to back down,” Elder Morris said, holding my hands as she tried to stop me from going close to Brian.

“Why are you stopping me ?” I asked as I turned to her again,

I mean I still couldn't understand this.

“He is gone, there is nothing you can do” she said

“Then why then did you bring me here Elder Morris” I said as I cried in pains holding my chest really hard again

She paused for a moment without uttering a word, at this point I had begun to feel scared, I could literally say I had a premonition, things weren't just sitting right and I could sense it.

“Liora, You can't stop the curse with the host ?” She said, her voice laced with pains.

“What do you mean?” I asked

“This was the reason why I summoned you here, there is no way we can help him, he is gone, but you can save everyone” she said.

“How can I do that, even you aren't allowing me to save Brian now” I thundered my voice rigid

“The only way the curse would be broken for now, it's if the host dies with the curse” Elder Morris answered as tears escaped her eyes.

“What do you mean? " I asked as I moved closer to her again.

“We need to kill Brian, Brian dues with the curse” Elder Morris said

However, she walked towards a shelf and brought out that same bottle I had seen her with earlier while I was walking into the nursery.

“You can end it with this,” she said, raising the bottle and handing it to me.

My body froze as I stared at her, tears kept flowing as I looked at her eyes. I couldn't believe we were doing this. We were about to kill the one who had come to us for help. What kind of healer kills his patient? I asked myself as I continued to cry.

“I can't do this Elder Morris, Martha needs him” I said as I continued to cry.

“That's why you are here to comfort her and tell something different, no one must know about the curse, else everyone will panic” she said looking at me.

This was never going to happen, I was never going to kill Brian, I had promised Martha that I would save him, and I was going to save him.

“Do it now, it's an order !!” Elder Morris ordered as she handed the bottle to me.
