CHAPTER EIGHTY-FIVE.

(Meliora's POV)

I whispered her name not to draw the attention of the guards, but it seemed like she couldn't hear me. she was weak, and from the look of things it seemed like she had been badly tortured.

She was all alone on the chair, but it was even difficult for her to move an inch just as she laid there.

The worst that could have happened was for me to fight off these guards around the dungeon, it wasn't going to be possible to leave here alive with Martha if I tried to fight them off.
I was definitely surrounded by brutal guards who were willing to do anything to be in favor of Selene and Elder Morris.
I moved around the secured area a bit, acting just like the other guards were acting, it seems like they were trying to secure the area by doing so.

One of the guards had moved closer to Elder Morris, and had whispered some information to her, she then turned to Selene who was close to her.

Her voice was above a whisper, and I couldn't hear what they were saying, Elder Morris was quick about it, and I could see Selene nodding her head.

Just as I moved a bit, Selene and Elder Morris moved from the other prisoners back to where Martha was standing.

I watched as they moved closer to Martha and I just knew that I needed to pay attention to what they were going to tell her.

“Meliora would have just done what's better to have been done” Elder Morris screamed as she moved closer to Martha.

Martha held her chest as she stared at Elder Morris.

“What was Meliora expected to do?” Martha groaned as she spoke to her.

“She knew what she could have done to prevent this, I warned her solely” Elder Morris said

“What do you expect her to do, what could she have prevented?” Martha managed to speak.

“There is an outbreak of the Rauna Curse, and if Meliora had done the right thing, this wouldn't have happened, now the pack are in panic, they are scared of their lives now.” Elder Morris said.

“What was the right thing expected of Meliora?” Martha asked.

Elder Morris kept silent for some minute as she couldn't answer Martha. I patiently waited for her response, but she didn't say anything, it seemed like Martha's question had strangled her solely in her chest, which she somehow found it difficult to answer.

“I ask again, what was the right thing expected of Meliora?” Martha asked, staring at Elder Morris.

But still Elder Morris didn't say a word, she just stared at Martha like a statue.

“To kill Brian ?” Martha asked, staring at her.

"That's not important now Martha” Elder Morris broke the silence.

“That is very important,” Martha said.

Elder Morris kept silent for some moment again before turning to Martha who was fighting back the tears in her eyes.

"Who said so? I never asked Meliora to kill Brian, Meliora lied to you" she said

Meanwhile, she acted like she didn't know what Martha was saying. If there was a word to describe it, she was obviously denying the fact that she had actually instructed me to kill Brian.

“Meliora is a liar and a deceiver, I never asked her to kill Brian, I only asked her to treat Brian so the course doesn't break out, but she refused to give him the right injections” Elder Morris answered.

My mouth was almost forced to open, I honestly wanted to shout out loud and then kill Elder Morris right away if that was possible, she was obviously trying to make me the bad guy here.

A tear escaped my eyes as I stared at Martha.

“Ohh, she definitely lied to you, and you believed her, Martha come to think of it, she hates you, she is jealous of you” Elder Morris said.

This was another act of defaming me and making me look like the bad person.

My feet moved as I tried to walk towards them, but I just couldn't, I was going to ruin everything, and this was going to cost us our lives.

I just hoped that Martha didn't just believe the words from Elder Morris.

A tear escaped my eyes as I looked around, this wasn't going to be easy, the more I thought about it, the more it looked hard to me.

This was the point that I knew that I needed to inform the Alpha what was going on if he didn't know about it.

I tried walking away from where they were, but one of the guards held my hands trying to stop me from moving.

Just as I turned to look at him, he stared into my eyes just like a dragon.

“Oh sorry, I thought you were Lucas,” he said, walking away.

“No problem” I managed to speak up as I walked away to the entrance.

I moved quickly, trying not to get detected, but I must say, I really felt bad.

I found my way and headed straight to the Alpha's chambers. No one was still able to recognize me as I was still wearing the guards' clothes.

As I got closer to the Alpha's chamber, I saw one of the Alpha's loyal subjects who worked for the Alpha. I quickly moved close to him and then I unveiled my face making sure he was able to identify me

“Sir, Please I need to talk to the Alpha this moment” I told him as I followed behind
He turned around and upon seeing me he held my hands.

“What's wrong Meliora, why do you want to see the Alpha?” he asked.

“There is something going on that he needs to know about” I responded with a nod
“Come with me” he said as he took me to the Alpha's chambers.

He had told me to follow him through and when we had gotten to the Alpha's door, he asked me to stop and wait for him to talk to the king and announce my arrival.
Suddenly, I heard a statement as soon as he walked into the room.
“We must get Meliora, The Lycan king mustn't get to her first” someone said.
