CHAPTER EIGHTY-THREE.

(Martha's POV)

I closed my eyes tightly as I didn't just want to witness Meliora being caught, I knew that this was the climax of it all.

The guards yelled out again making sure he caught the attention of Elder Morris and Selene.

“What did you find ?” Elder Morris said as she walked closer to me, They were actually behind, but at this point, she walked close to where I stood while trying to have a glimpse of what the guard had found.

Meanwhile, Selene didn't move an inch, but I could see how curious she was. She was eager to see what the guard had found out. I knew that she would be more than delighted if Meliora was found in my room.

It was actually going to be the end for Meliora and I. I knew Selene she was brutal and envious, I could remember those times before I met Brian, I knew how cruel she was to Meliora, because her father was the Alpha, it seemed like she got the whole world just underneath her feet.

Some of the other guards rushed in, as they heard the other guards' voices, my heart raced as I wondered if it was Meliora., but on the other hand, I knew how smart Meliora was, she just couldn't be found so easily.

She must have probably left, when the guards had come to take me the other time. 

It felt like the guards had found something that seemed so heavy to pull out as they managed to take each step. I had wondered what was really going on. Meliora didn't bring anything to the house the previous night, so what on earth were they pulling out in this manner?

My eyes moved back and forth as I tried to have a view of myself . My heart sank immediately when I saw the equipment being pulled.

Hell no! This wasn't equipment, this was actually a human, struggling with the guards for her life.

My heart skipped again as I stared at the human, the person was being mistreated by the guards, 

No, a member of the pack shouldn't be treated in such a degrading and disgusting manner, I could see some bruises on the body of the person, as they struggled to fight back.

I just knew this was the end, Meliora had been caught, and we were going to die together, none of us was going to live, I closed my eyes as I wept for a second time.

I wish all of this didn't happen, I wish I could know the reason why this was happening. Why was Meliora and I wanted to be fabricated and killed by all possible means?

It was clear that Elder Morris didn't trust me any longer, I opened eyes again as I stared at Meliora in front of me, but something was confusing about this, this wasn't the exact clothes which Meliora was putting on before I left, the bruises on the skin of this person wasn't just a fresh one as a result of struggling and escaping from the guards.

And if I was right, the skin tone was different from that of Meliora. This wasn't right. This just didn't look like Meliora, Yes I had left somebody in the room earlier, before the guards came for me, but this wasn't the person I left in the room.

Slowly, she raised her head, her hair covering her face, it was almost not easy for anyone to detect her head, her hair was really full and yet long.

“Meliora” Selene called out her name as she took a step closer to where she was standing.

I stood baffled as I continued to stare at the figure, she was literally raising her head, but I still couldn't say if it was Meliora or not.

There was no response from the girl who stood with her head covered, Selene was getting upset, it seemed like she didn't have time to play games, she took another step forward calling Meliora's name again.

Slowly, the girl raised her head, Elder Morris took a step back trying to uncover the next move of the girl before asking the guards to take her.

I staggered backwards as soon as her face was revealed. I knew this person, but I couldn't recognize her at the moment, there were blisters and wounds on her face. It definitely looked like a wolf bite, or it wasn't, it was certainly the claws of a werewolf. No, I still wasn't satisfied, it was a deep cut of a sharp sword.

She groaned as she raised her head up looking at everyone, her eyes were red and swollen, like someone who was dead.

“Where is Meliora ?” Selene screamed as she asked the young lady in front of us.

I just couldn't stand this, I staggered backwards again as I swallowed the lump in my throat.

“She was here before, but she left not quite long” the young lady stammered as she managed to speak, however blood poured out from her mouth.

This was another crazy epistle, was this another plan to frame up. I knew Elder Morris wouldn't stop this game until she accomplished whatever she was aiming at, and I could beat my chest to say it was her doing.

Selene stared at the young lady again with discomfort, it felt like she had begun to realize that there was something wrong.

Meanwhile, she turned to Elder Morris angrily.

“This shows Meliora was here, and it's clear that Martha had hidden her, this is treason, you'll pay your crimes and that of Meliora” she announced.

Elder Morris nodded her head affirming to what she had just said, it was indeed a plan work, because I did not know how Meliora disappeared, and this wounded young lady was found in my house, she was never in my room before.

“I don't know her, I don't know what she means, she is lying, I didn't see Meliora” I tried to defend myself while staring at the young lady and wondering how she got into my house.

Where the hell was Meliora though? As much as I was a bit calm that Meliora wasn't caught, I had begun to get worried about her, honestly she was never supposed to leave the room.

How on earth did she leave the room uncaught? Or was she killed ?

A lot of thoughts had started flooding my mind as I looked into the room again, nothing seemed to be clear to me any longer, I was confused at this point.

“She left some minutes ago” the young lady repeated, this time, she moved her fingers as she began to scratch the bruises on her body again.

This acting seemed so disturbing to me, I kept on moving back as I stared at her.

Elder Morris, took a step forward and stared into her eyes for some moment, she turned to Selene again as they exchanged glances.

“What's wrong ?” Selene asked, trying to uncover what was actually wrong with the young lady.

With this Elder Morris took another step ahead again before staring closely into her eyes, I watched as all of this was happening, I turned around trying to see if I was going to see Meliora by any chance close by, My eyes scanned the better side, but suddenly I was moved back to reality when Elder Morris made a shocking revelation.

“It's the Rauna Curse, everyone back down now!” she yelled out loud.

The whole wolf pack which was close by moved swiftly as they staggered backwards trying to escape one way or another.
