CHAPTER SIXTY-THREE.

(Melioras POV)

The Lycan king didn't move as he continued to stare at me, I was lost as well, probably I had never thought that I was going to see him here again and now, fate has brought us in a crucial hour.

My eyes moved swiftly as I stared back at Brian who was almost close to the king now.

This was an open place , I couldn't even scream out loud to the king that Brian was ill , a lot of guards, subjects accompanied by some of the packs, panic was going to set in if I shouted. All I needed was to find a way to make sure he gets to the king.

I wasn't like Elder Morris, but I needed to play the safe game. I couldn't say if the Rauna Curse was real and how it could spread out to the pack. 

Brian needed to be contained at this point to get treatment and that was the only way he could be safe for Martha and the baby.

But truthfully , there was no other way to get hold of Brian as he approached the king. Suddenly there was a voice behind us, I could hear the person call Brian's name softly.

It was accompanied by a sob , I turned around to see who had just called out Brian's name and surprisingly it was Martha .

Martha didn't need to be here, how was she aware that we were here , this wasn't going to be safe for her. No one knows about the curse except Elder Morris and I, and I couldn't also say if the curse could be contracted by mere touch or something else.

My head tilted to Brian's side as he stopped, he was about ten feet away from the king if I was right when Martha had called his name.

Brian turned slowly as his eyes met with that of Martha, he didn't even care anymore as he made a turn to her. The Alpha didn't understand what was going on, but he was certain that everything didn't seem right.

Just then Elder Morris caught up with us,  I could see the look on her face. She didn't expect to see the Alpha. This was definitely the wrong time. She stood behind Martha as she bowed her head to the king. The guards quickly ran towards Brian to hold him off before he held the king.

However , Elder Morris wasn't sure if it was a good idea , she knew the Alpha was going to find everything suspicious , not alone now that she had instructed the guards to get hold of Brian, The Alpha was indeed going to question her authority and ask why she was seizing a warrior of the pack.

Just then she raised one of her hands up to the guards to flag them down and immediately stopped . I sighed as I definitely thought all of this was over. I was tired of everything. I didn't even want to hear the curse anymore, but I feared it was really bad.

The Alpha and the Lycan king stood worried as they both didn't know what was going on, There was silence in the hallway, as nobody spoke a word, it was at the point that Elder Morris walked closer to the king , each step closer spoke danger as i looked at her, I didn't know why she was going to the king ,but it was obvious that she had drafted out a plan or probably was following orders.

She was about three steps away from the Alpha,  when I noticed that the Alpha was about to say something, but she bowed her head again immediately before interrupting the Alphas words. She did this really quickly which made the Alpha not suspect anything.

“I'm sorry Alpha ,this is not nothing, just making sure Sir Brian is healthy enough to walk out on his own" she whispered, trying as much as possible not to let her words be heard by the others.

The Alpha sighed as he stared back at Brian who was going back, it seemed like he was actually going to meet Martha who had called him earlier. I couldn't blame him, he had been requesting to see his wife since  he got up, and now that she was here , he would seize any opportunity to embrace her tightly.

But I couldn't understand how Martha knew that Brian was here, there was something so complicated about this whole thing and I was sure that she didn't know that her husband had the Rauna Curse.

She was now in danger, it seemed the Alphas case had been settled , it was left to save her now.

“No Martha, you can't be here, just go back to the nursery. We are going to take him back" I said as I took a step back.

Meanwhile, Brian was already close to the both of us, I knew that Martha wouldn't mind holding her husband again, but the truth remained that she might get infected.

I moved closer to Martha again, holding one of her hands as I begged her to leave immediately, she didn't know about all of this. Putting her in danger was the last thing I wanted to do, but her next word got glued to the ground.

“I'm done with asking for some help from you, this should be the last time I would  do that" she replied as she withdrew her hands from mine slowly.

What was this? I couldn't understand what she was saying.

If I was right she was the one I had been trying to help. Elder Morris would have killed him. I had to buy Brian some time, by pleading. How then would Martha think that I have not been helping her, even when I had been trying my best.

I stared at Elder Morris as a tear escaped my eyes before returning my gaze back to Martha. Elder Morris had almost finished speaking with the Alpha and I could see him leaving with the Lycan king.

I managed to fall back, as I feared Brian who was already in front of Martha at this point. I had wanted to tell her that Brian had the curse , but I couldn't , just like Elder Morris said , the wolves would panic , the safety of the pack was our priority.

“Martha, I've been searching for you, I miss you, let's just go home" Brian said as he staggered close to Martha. I couldn't say if he was sobbing, but I knew he was in pain.

“Brian, how are you doing? I missed you too. I had come here to take you home as well ” Martha responded as she wiped the tears from her eyes.

Brian stood in front of Martha as he sobbed uncontrollably.  It was at this point that I knew that a man also could cry. Brian took a step closer to Martha, I held my chest from a distance as I began to cry, I didn't want to lose both of them to the curse.

Elder Morris watched from a distance as she stared back at us, and in a split second she walked towards us gently, just then she nodded her head towards Martha.

Just as she was instructed, Martha dipped her hands in her pocket and brought out a syringe, without hesitating she injected Brian on his neck , making sure all the content got into him.

My body shook as I heard the thud of Brian's body on the floor, and at the same time I could see the surprise on Martha's face just like this wasn't what she expected.
