CHAPTER 14

It's already been more or less thirty minutes since Trajan told me every single detail on why they are pushing through my marriage with the emperor - that although it may look like an impulsive decision it is not one. That the Emperor himself has everything planned out the moment that I entered the palace to cure his legs and help him recuperate.

And the fact that I really cannot say no to the marriage because the moment that I fought those assassins that infiltrated the palace days ago, I am already pretty much involved in their business - partially it is my fault that I got involved and that they are already pushing through the marriage next week right after his legs are fully healed.



I did not expect that eliminating those assassins where I do not remember everything made me have my fair share of enemies in this world. Like what the f-CK? If only I knew that I will get myself into trouble then I could have just let them handle it - and I just stayed in my quarters but f-ck what could I do? It already happened and not to mention the reason why they are indeed pushing through the marriage is deep and the moment that I heard it made me instantly rethink everything that I thought of a while ago.



I heave a deep sigh and I look straight directly at their faces. Alright, it is going to be unfair since I haven't really lost my memories in the first place but then again I also cannot let myself be the center of attraction of the assassins. I need to have my share of protection and the only safe place that I have right now is this palace. Damn, I hope I will not regret this in the end and also I am going to talk to Fourteen later. I am going to make sure to have a conversation with him regarding this matter.



"Alright, let's do it."

"So, we are going to start your education by tomorrow. You have to meet Trajan at the Imperial Library at exactly eight in the morning and it will last until an hour before lunchtime and in the afternoon you will have your own etiquette teacher" Aurelius Shen said while he is looking at me.



It's already been a few minutes since Trajan explained everything to me - especially the entire reason why they are pushing through my marriage with Aurelius Shen and to become an empress and yes, I agreed to marry the emperor because I also need to ensure that I am going to be safe in this world. Like hell no I am going to let myself die in the hands of this emperor's enemies.



And so, after I found out everything and eventually agreed to become his wife and the next Empress, which I really did not imagine that I would agree to because I was really firm a while ago in declining the offer because I know to myself that I am not fit to become an Empress, that I'd rather have a peaceful life being a doctor and curing sick people and lastly, I promised myself that if I am going to marry someone that someone would be an individual that I truly love.



I cannot believe that I am such a huge clown in agreeing to this heartless and cold emperor's proposal in the end - oh well, I guess the fact that my life is already on the line made me agree to it. And right now, I am still quite shocked to know that they already had everything planned - it is obvious that they have already anticipated that I am going to agree to the marriage after I have heard their explanation.



Why have I said that they are already prepared? Well, Aurelius Shen revealed that he already purchased land and a title for me in the city where people with two names just like me exist. In other words, they basically made me a noble lady and they already made up a nice background for me that I need to familiarize soon. Well, what they have done is not only beneficial to them but also beneficial to me in such a way that I am no longer going to think too much about how will I introduce myself to other people, and in short it will save me the energy from actually trying to explain to them that I have lost my memory and kinds of stuff.



In short, because of Aurelius Shen, making me a noble lady - technically creating a very concrete fake background for me my identity as I introduce myself to anyone is already concrete and I will have no trouble in actually worrying if other people are going to find out if my identity is indeed legitimate or fake. A while ago, I actually asked him why did he chose that city to actually be my fake 'hometown' and his son for choosing that city had me shocked and impressed at the same time because I have realized how calculative he really is - a skill fitting for an Emperor indeed.



He said that he chose that city because he feels that I really belong to that city because of my name Dawn Scarlett, he basically said that the people who live there are the same as me - who has two names so there is a huge possibility as he had said that we are going to find out who I really am and at some point find the person who locked my memories away and unlock the reason why my memories were actually sealed. However, the thing is that I haven't really lost my memories so he will surely not find anything in particular in that city but then again even if that is the case I am really impressed that he considered that characteristic.



Well, of course he will really consider it and make an identity for me that has no loopholes so that his - or rather our enemies will not be able to have anything against us. The second thing that he said is because the customs and traditions of that place are different from this city and not to mention that the ruler of that place is also his friend and that friend of his already agreed to cover up for me if his enemies in this city tried to dig deeper on my background.



He really did make me a noble lady in order to add up to my title as a doctor so that the aristocratic faction and nobility will not be able to say something against me or against him and of course for the wedding ceremony to go on smoothly. And right now, just like what he had said a while ago, I am going to undergo an education under the supervision of Trajan and he also hired an etiquette teacher for me in order to teach me the basics. He really considered it since I told him that I have long lost my memories and losing my memories also means that I am completely oblivious of the specific customs and traditions in this place.



It is like I am actually hitting two birds with one stone and everything is indeed a win-win situation. I am going to be protected here in the palace walls and I am going to have my own set of bodyguards, I am going to get the education I need to be able to know a lot more things about this world just like what Fourteen said that I should do and not to mention that my clinic will surely gain attention because Aurelius mentioned that he is going to reveal that I am also the person who cured his legs and that he was able to walk normally again that no doctor could do.



"Okay," I just replied to what he said because technically I really have nothing to say but to agree. I saw him nod his head and he was about to stand up from his seat when I remember something.



"Wait, is the imperial library free at this moment? Can I go there right now, you know I need to read books in advance as well and not to mention I really have nothing to do the whole afternoon" I said directly. Well, just like what Fourteen said, I am too focused on my profession as a doctor and that I really do not know a single thing about this place - yes, I was able to adapt to how the people live, communicate, and other basic stuff but there are still a lot of things that I do not know.



And also, I badly want to find out what does exactly that white nine-tailed fox really means in this world, and other than that I also want to find clues on the meaning of the two tattoos that appeared on my body the moment that I wake up from a deep slumber because it is obvious that I am not going to get anything from that god's mouth.



"You can use it as you like" he just said and before I could even say thank you, he just left - like he used magic in order to disappear from my eyes instantly and I am still taken aback by the fact that magic does exist in this world but then again I made sure that my face doesn't show it at all because Trajan is just sitting right in front of me and just like his brother he too also has this keen eyes and I am pretty sure that he will notice instantly if I saw how shocked I am.



"Well, I told you, you really do not have to be too formal with me because you are going to be my sister-in-law and the future Empress of this city" Trajan suddenly said and when I turn my head towards him, I literally saw him smiling from ear to ear and I cannot just help but heave a sigh because of his reaction.



Also, instead of answering him I just stood from my seat and I slightly bowed in front of him before turning my back at him. I am then about to walk away because I really cannot stand being in the same room as him because it greatly annoys me when he suddenly said something that made me stop in my tracks.



"As you enter the library you are going to meet the librarian there. He is a mage, by the way, he may actually startle you the moment you step inside because it's been a while since someone is interested in entering the imperial library. But you do not have to worry that much, he is pretty friendly. "



That is what he just said and I was about to turn my head to face him again when suddenly I just felt that his presence already disappeared from the hall and even the stuffiness that I am feeling since a while ago also disappeared. Those two, can't they just leave the hall normally by not using their magic powers? Because even if I look this calm I am still getting quite shocked because of what they are actually doing!



They could have just considered the fact that I am really left in the shadows that magic is existing in this world and that almost everyone knows how to use it because I basically lost my memories - oh well, even if I really did not in the first place.



*sigh* Anyways, I just go to the imperial library to kill some time and of course, find the answers that I need. Well, and I do not know why but I am kind of anticipating meeting the mage that guards that place just like what Trajan said. What does he actually look like? How friendly he is actually? And I also cannot help but think that maybe he knows something about the nine-tailed fox and also the tattoos that appeared on my body.



I better go now, time is ticking and I do not want to waste time.
