CHAPTER 44
Dawn Scarlett
"Okay let's have our break first since it's already almost luncheon and with that, I am leaving you alone in this library so that you'll be able to digest everything that I have said," Trajan said with a smile plastered on his face and I just nod my head in response. What else would I say? All the things that he had said a while back about the characteristics of being a noble lady which are the things that I should do are too much for me to digest all at once - it was an information overload for me. Luckily, he knows when to give me a break because I thought that he will continue to lecture me about how will I do my part well in Aurelius' plan.
Trajan also knows his timing because he did make sure that he will give me a break when it is already almost lunch - well, about an hour and a half actually before lunch is served at the dining hall and honestly, that is already enough time for me to be able to rest and at least try to remember and digest everything that he said a while back.
"Anyways, I'll be leaving you now sister law, see you at the hall later" Trajan added and before I could say my farewell to him - he just disappeared from my sight as a bubble would, and I just can't help but to heave a deep sigh.
"He used magic again. It would be nice if I too can be able to teleport that way" I whispered to myself - well, it is the truth if I were to learn already how to use magic the first thing that I would want to learn is how to travel from one place to another without consuming much energy, basically just like how Trajan did which is similar to teleportation.
"Well, you can actually learn it now if you want to," someone said from behind me and the moment that I turn my head to see who the hell just spoke behind me, I was astounded; astounded to the point that I am about to fall off from my chair.
"Shit! Are you actually planning on killing me?" I said, no more as I exclaimed. The person behind me who obviously startled the hell out of me was none other than one of the companions of the previous chosen one of the gods, the one who is supposed to be dead but for some reason, he is alive and kicking right now because of my own doing that up until now I did not know what exactly did I do to be able to active the spell he cast for him to be able to live again. But honestly, I have no plans on knowing what exactly did I do to trigger the spell he cast upon himself so that he'll live again because that would be too much information again.
He could keep that to himself because even if I am a little interested, I'd also rather be completely oblivious about it.
"Wait a minute what the hell are you doing here exactly? I thought that you are in your disguise or what so ever so that no one will recognize you? What if Trajan comes back by using that magic of his?" I asked worriedly. Well, I have a point because we already talked about yesterday, not really talked but I sort of reminded him the fact that he needs to wear a disguise because I am sure enough that the two brothers will be able to recognize him at first glance - especially Aurelius Shen, the emperor. I know because I have seen his picture somewhere in the Imperial Palace's hall.
However, it seems like he did not actually follow my advice because he still looks the same and the hell what if Trajan suddenly comes back using the teleportation magic of his then Trajan will see Alaistair and of course, he will be hella curious about why the hell does he actually looks like one of the people in the paintings who saved the kingdom from the calamity? Then what is he going to say?
"Don't worry Raphael already cast a magical barrier around the library the moment he left and he cannot come back here using magic - he'll have to go through the front door but even if he'll go through the front door he won't be able to open it instantly because I used my magic to prevent him or anyone in this palace from doing so. " he said and that made me heave a sigh. Well, of course, he wouldn't reveal himself instantly right before me especially knowing the fact that I am with the Emperor's brother without precautionary measures.
"Anyways, Dawn Scarlett what I am saying is that do you actually want to learn how to instantly travel from one place to another just like what that guy did? Without incantations?" he added and in an instant what he said caught my attention. Honestly, I do want to learn how to use that kind of magic so that I wouldn't have the trouble of walking or availing myself a carriage for a ride and not to mention I am able to visit my clinic to get the things that I would probably need without any trouble. I can even go here in the Library to meet with Raphael or with him in the middle of the night if I actually want to clarify something without anyone finding out.
But my worry is that it would be too difficult for me to master since firstly, magic is something that I am still uncommon with. And I am sure I will have a lot of trouble controlling my powers because although I have already accepted that I possess such things I am really a complete foreigner to it.
"Don't worry. Teleportation magic is just a piece of cake - I am sure that you are able to master it in just a few minutes. Am I right, Raphael?" he stated, and when just as he mentioned Raphael, the guy appeared just right beside him. Raphael is wearing clothes that are way different from the ones that he wore yesterday and a while ago when I first saw him - he is also currently wearing glasses which makes him look really a bit different from yesterday.
"I personally do think that it will only take her more or less twenty minutes to be able to master teleportation" that is what Raphael said and my jaw instantly dropped on the ground because of what he said. I personally do not think that being able to master a spell in such a short period of time because just like what I have said although I already have the book knowledge about what magic is and how it actually works it is way different from being able to practice it.
Not to mention that Raphael told me that he will actually teach me the basics of being able to use magic but the thing is he hasn't even taught me just yet and so how am I able to actually perform teleportation magic and master it in more or less twenty minutes?!
"Trust me you will be able to master it in such a short time" Raphael started again and I cannot help but frown because of his statement. Alright, he is the archmage, and archmages are considered to be the top-tier mage - no one can compare to his knowledge and position about magic and not to mention that this is already his second life and he was able to completely remember what happened in his previous life as well.
Raphael is also one of the companions of the previous chosen one - he and Alaistair lived the same timeline but the thing is Raphael in the previous life died a little later than Alaistair and he died in the most natural way people could think of and that is because of old age and that he consumed all of his magical powers in building the magic tower. How the heck did I know that? Because of last night's dream that Fourteen gave to me - in that dream, he also revealed to me a little information regarding what happened in the previous timelines and that's the time that I got to know something about Raphael. It's a good thing because I no longer need to ask Raphael about how exactly did he die.
But the thing is, I am really doubting myself at this moment if I could actually freakin' meet their expectations because what if I cannot right? It will really be quite disappointing but anyways, I guess there is also no harm in trying.
"Basically, teleportation involves making an object or yourself vanish from one location and reappear at another and on top of that distance does not really matter - no matter how near or far it is, it does not really matter. There are two ways you can actually teleport, and the first one is using an incantation or a spell - which basically means that you are going to say something first before you could actually teleport to the place that you want. And the second one is simply using your mind picture where you want to go and followed up with a snap of your fingers and poof you are already at the place where you want to be" Alaistair said and that made me remember what Trajan and Aurelius always did. The two of them neither spoke of a spell or something before disappearing like a bubble right before my eyes so that means that they have been using the second type of teleportation magic.
"Also, there are some people who could use teleportation magic but has limits. For example, they can only teleport from one place to another in such a small distance like they cannot travel from one kingdom or another because that will either consume much of their magical powers which will either strain their body or worse lead them to their death bed. Another limit could also be that people who could use teleportation magic can only go to places that they have already been once - meaning they cannot teleport to a place they haven't visited just yet." Raphael added to what Alaistair said and for some reason, I cannot help but be curious what limit do I actually have but I do hope that it is not the first limit that he mentioned because I think it will be pretty much useless if I cannot use teleportation magic in order to teleport to a far place. The second limit that he mentioned is honestly quite acceptable - that I need to first personally visit the place before I could teleport to it. It is actually a good thing since I am able to experience traveling like how normal people would.
Normal people -- wait I just remembered something.
"Didn't you say yesterday that there are only a few of the population who could actually use magic?" I asked and the two nod their heads as a response to the question that I asked. "If that is the case, then how are they traveling? Like are they using the normal way of traveling from one place to another like using carriages or is there some other way?"
"Well, just like what I have said yesterday normal people who aren't able to use magic use magical tools to aid them and make their lives easier and the same goes for traveling. The magic tower personally creates teleportation scrolls for them to use - but of course, they need to pay five silver coins for each teleportation scroll. Our mages also need money to live so that is why those scrolls are not free" Raphael said and I nod my head three times as a response that I already got his point.
It is actually good to hear that normal people who cannot manipulate magic have magical tools in order to aid them in their lives - making their lives a lot easier. And also it is a good thing that the magic tower which Raphael, the archmage manages is producing magic scrolls for people to use when they want easy and fast travel - in my previous life I can compare it to that of a car, or maybe a train or it could also be a plane. But in my opinion, teleportation is much more convenient than using cars.
"Now, since you already know the background of teleportation let's proceed on teaching you how to do it," Alaistair said and I could see it in his eyes that he is pretty much excited about teaching me about teleportation magic and because I do not know how to react or rather I am just too nervous to react I just slyly nod my head and I just wished myself good luck. I do not really think that I am ready for this.
I do hope that I won't disappoint the two or even myself. It is okay if I am going to use a spell in order to teleport or have limits in teleportation or if I am not going to master it in more or less twenty minutes. The important thing is that I am going to learn it otherwise - yeah, that is the most important thing that I need to consider. Oh well, wish me luck, I really do hope that everything will turn out just fine because if it didn't then I don't know what to do and it will really stress me out for sure.
