CHAPTER 46

It's already been a few minutes - more or less five minutes after I already explained to them what exactly did I felt while I am performing the teleportation spell and right now, they seem to be still processing the things that I have said. I do not exactly know if my assumption is correct but it seems that they too did not expect what happened to me. The two are still pretty much astounded by what I just shared with them, or more if they are still contemplating what I actually revealed to them regarding my first teleportation experience. They were really so curious that they indeed asked me to explain everything from the moment that I closed my eyes. And because they are really persistent I have no choice but to tell them every single thing.



"Oh so while you are actually doing what we told you to do you felt other presences with us and even when you did the same thing at your clinic?" Raphael asked while his right hand is placed under his chin. It is as if he is too is thinking about who the heck could be those presences that I felt a while ago when I am performing the teleportation spell.



"Most probably they are the spirits and there is a possibility that they are already making themselves known to you by their presences but there is also a huge possibility that you can feel them even if they did not allow themselves to be felt because your abilities are in another level," Alaistair said and Raphael nodded his head which means that he completely agrees to what Alaistair mentioned. Well, honestly now that he mentioned it I do think that he does have a point.



Okay, so yesterday Raphael lectured me about spirits. What did he exactly say about them again? Oh yeah he said that



Spirits are actually small particles of energy not visible to the human eye. If a spirit is visible to a human then that only means three things: First, the spirits recognized that person therefore they made a decision to reveal themselves and at some point allow that person to be able to form a contract with them.



Second, that person has been born with the eye of the beholder, which allows him or her to see the spirits. But note that having the eye of the beholder does not really mean anything and it does not mean an increase in power or something, it is simply a blessing from the gods to be able to see spirits.



The third reason is that if the human being is actually the chosen one of the gods and basically you are that person chosen by the gods to be able to see and make a contract with the spirits. So what is the difference between the second and third reasons? Simple and that is the spirits deem whether a person is worthy of using their power or not and often times they do reject human beings who want to make a contract with them. In history, there are only three people who have successfully gained the favor of a few spirits, and those people have already left this world long ago, and ever since their passing, no one was able to make a contract with a spirit again.



Okay so basically, I belong to the third reason which is that I am the chosen one of the gods of this world. However, the thing is that even if that is already a given reason I still haven't been able to see a spirit ever since I came to this world. Okay, I am indeed chosen by the gods but the thing is because I am chosen by the gods then I should be able to already see them at this point in time or even before but I haven't encountered even one of them. I am only able to unconsciously use one of the powers of the spirits but that's a different thing. I can feel them - but it is still faint but I guess the important thing is that I could feel their presence although it is quite faint.



Also, this means that although I am the chosen one of the gods the spirits can still have the choice of whether or not they are going to reveal themselves to me and as of this moment it is obvious that they still have no plans of doing that is why I still cannot see them but I guess it is also safe to say that I am improving since I am able to actually feel them for a while even if it is only because of the fact that I am resonating with the environment due to the fact that I am about to use a teleportation incantation.





"I know what you are thinking but do not worry, you are going to see them physically soon - I guess they too are waiting for the right them for them to be able to reveal themselves to you," Raphael said and again, it is as if he was able to read what is on my mind and because he did, he was able to give me assurance. I do not really get it - like how on earth is he able to do kind of read what is on my mind, yes I get it he is the archmage and he is expected to be all-knowing since that is his title but it is quite impossible for him to be able to instantly know what is on my mind and on top of that, he really always hit the spot as if he was able to read everything that I thought. Well, I cannot say that it is obvious in my expressions because I have always been known to be able to hide my expressions well - but not too well compared to my other companions in my previous life but mine is, let's say enough to be able to spit out believable lies and not to mention Fourteen said that he made sure not to let anyone be able to read my mind.



Well, it is already proven and tested since I am able to at least fool Aurelius Shen, the emperor of this city right? I am not saying that it is an achievement but it could be considered as an achievement because he is a clever emperor and being a clever one he should have really realized by now that I am spitting lies in order to hide the truth about my identity but the thing is, he never realized it. I know it is also all thanks to the precautionary measures that the gods created such as blocking anyone from being able to read my mind and also other things that will basically prevent anyone from having a hint that I do not really come from this world. To basically make the lie that I have lost memories of my past believable.



But that is also not the thing because even before that Aurelius Shen used his magic to actually try and read my mind to check if my memories are still there he instantly believed my identity as a doctor because if he didn't why the hell would he actually let me live for this long - he should have already killed me and did not just left me all alone in the forest because letting me live could also bring harm to him and not to mention the moment that he found me he shouldn't have invited me here in the Imperial Palace and let me live comfortably, but whatever everything that has happened to me up to this point is both good and bad - they are technically balanced so I have nothing to say anymore.





"Uhuh, Raphael is right. Spirits could actually be very shy especially since this is the first time in a while that their abilities could be used again by a human being chosen by the gods. I bet they are trying first to plan how they will approach you or how exactly will they reveal themselves. " Alaistair added and I just nod my head at the two of them. Well, I wouldn't be that shocked anymore when I am already able to see something that other people cannot - let's say I am already quite prepared for what is about to happen in the next few days -- or am I really prepared? Oh well, whatever happens, happens I guess.



"I am honestly quite amused, it is your first time teleporting yet you no longer need to say out loud the spell to be able to teleport. I am expecting that you still need to say the spell but it turns out you are really talented, Dawn Scarlett" Alaistair exclaimed and I cannot help but frown because of that. Is what happened really that amusing for him? Well, I did not expect that it will be amusing for him or for Raphael in the first place because again, they are way more talented and experienced than me and I am also expecting that they are expecting too much from me. That they already expected that I am able to teleport without an incantation just because I am a divine lady and that I am completely chosen by the gods.



"What do you actually mean by that? I thought that you are expecting me to have that kind of result in the first place?" I asked because I am really curious about what he meant by what he just said



"Oh, it's just that since it is your first time, we really didn't expect that much. We are sure enough though that you are able to teleport successfully but the thing is we are expecting that you still need to use a spell to be able to do so and it is really pretty much surprised that you no longer need it although it is just your first time. We really shouldn't expect less from the chosen one of the gods but oh well, another fact is that Lucius was never as talented as you. He is indeed the chosen one but when he was studying teleportation magic he still needed to recite the incantation during his first try" Alaistair mentioned and that made me frown even more because I did not expect that they are actually expecting lesser than what I thought they would be expecting me to be able to do.



But wait - what the heck did Alaistair just say? That really shouldn't expect less from the chosen one of the gods? No no no! They shouldn't expect less from the chosen one of the gods but they should expect less from me! I am not that talented and I do not even know how the heck am I able to perform correctly the teleportation spell without even saying out loud the spell that I should have said in the first place.



I am about to say something - like rebut the thing that Alaistair said about not expecting less from me when Raphael suddenly said something which basically prevented me from being able to utter a single word.



"Hmm, I do think that she is really the strongest among the rest. Lucius wasn't really even able to feel the presence of the spirits without proper training although he was able to see a few of them from time to time the thing is it was only after a month or two that he was able to feel their presence"



That is what he said and I cannot actually help but heave a deep sigh because I do not think that I am able to say what I want to say right now because for sure their conversation will get longer. Shit - how can I change their perspective now? How can I say that whatever happened a while ago is just because I got freakin' lucky!
