Cold Hearted Mate
"I told you I'll talk to him, " Scarlett sighed as she rubbed her temple.
"It's okay… " Evelyn tried to reassure her. The omega didn't want to go to the arsenal anymore. Keiran already hated her, she didn't want to cause any more problems to the alpha.
Scarlett looked at the girl with a sharp look. "Evelyn, you cannot just accept everything Keiran says. You have to tell him your opinion and what you want to do. Speak yourself, "
The omega looked down. It's not like she didn't speak up. She tried to stand for herself but that one word….. When the alpha called her a slut, all the courage Evelyn mustered up melted away like a piece of ice on lava.
It was too much for her to even think that her mate thought of her as a wh*re. The pain of hearing that word was too excruciating.
But Evelyn wasn't going to say that to her mother in law, that would only cause more problems.
"It's been only a day since I became the Luna…. I don't want him to think I'm taking advantage of my position, " The girl sighed, causing Scarlett to scoff.
"Evelyn, you're not taking advantage of your position. It's your right to go to the arsenal and learn about the weapons. You're the Luna of this Pack. You have the same authority as Keiran in this Pack, " Scarlett said, irritated about how the omega easily submitted to Keiran.
"I understand….. But I don't want to m-make him upset…. He's not very fond of me so if I go against him, it will make him more upset…" Evelyn looked down. "I'll come back to the arsenal after some time….. When his anger towards me starts to cool down…"
Scarlett sighed and shook her head in disappointment. "I know you're trying to make Keiran happy but this is not the right way," She said, taking her bag that was placed in a chair nearby. "The only way to prove your worth to Keiran is proving him wrong about how he thinks of you, " She took out a big hardcover book from her bag.
Evelyn looked at her confused as Scarlett extended the book towards her.
"This is a book Josh gave me, " She said to the omega. "It's a book about different types of guns and their details. It also has pictures in it so it's easy to understand. Keiran ordered the guards to not let you in the arsenal that's why Josh gave this book, " She explained. "But you know, you can always go there and order the guards to let you in. They'll refuse first but if you're stubborn, they'll let you in because they know it's not allowed to disrespect the Luna,"
Evelyn gave a wavering smile to the former Luna before she looked down at the book in her hands. She gulped, staring at it, "Scarlett, I…. I-I don't know how to read…." The omega felt ashamed of herself as she said it.
Scarlett's eyes widened, "Oh, I'm so sorry, I didn't know that, " She apologized.
"It's okay…. I know a little bit… I forgot a lot because I lived in the forest for so long… I used to buy books for a few years so I won't forget how to read but they were all children's books because that's what I could afford at that time, " Evelyn chuckled.
Scarlett smiled at the omega sympathetically. "Don't worry, I'll teach you how to read and what's in this book, " She assured the girl. " Josh said you are good at shooting and throwing knives. You have to practice moving things now, " She patted her back. "He also promised to train you to fight outside the arsenal. You can practice knife throwing too. " Evelyn couldn't help but smile when she heard that.
"I'll take this book back with me," Scarlett put the book back in her bag. "I'll bring it when I'm teaching you how to read,"
"Okay," Evelyn smiled. The omega felt excited to start learning again.
"I'll be going now then, see you tomorrow, " Scarlett said goodbye to the girl who waved at her.

Evelyn took a deep breath as she stood on the balcony. The night sky was beautiful. She gripped the blanket around her tightly, trying to keep warm. It was getting colder and colder as time passed. Soon, there will be snowfalls.
The omega sighed as she looked back into the quiet bedroom. Keiran wasn't back yet. Evelyn looked at the digital clock on the wall.
01:13 AM
She walked into the room and closed the glass door to the balcony. The cold was getting unbearable.
The sudden sound of the door opening made her jump. She turned to the door, her heart beating like a hammer in her chest.
Keiran frowned when he saw the omega. "Why aren't you asleep yet?" He muttered, irritated.
Evelyn squirmed on her spot, feeling nervous under his glare.
"I-I was waiting for y-you to come back, " She stuttered out, looking down.
The alpha scoffed, " The reason why I came late is that I didn't want to see your pathetic face," He spat out with a disgusted expression, making the girl flinch.
Evelyn felt her fingernails dig into her palm. She bit her lip so hard that it drew blood. But these pains were nothing compared to the one the alpha was giving her.
"I-I just wanted to make sure y-you're okay… I didn't see you for dinner so I was worried…"
Keiran clenched his jaw as he heard the omega's words. He strode towards the girl with an angry expression.
Evelyn didn't even have the time to react before the alpha caught her jaw in a tight grip. The omega stumbled back a little from the force.
"Stop fu*king acting like a caring wife, okay? I do what I like and if you poke your nose in any of my business, you'll be sleeping on the balcony next time, " He breathed out, his voice dangerously low.
The anger in the alpha's eyes made Evelyn let out a shaky whimper.
If looks could kill, the omega would be six feet under right now.
Evelyn's lips trembled as she nodded, blinking away the tears that gathered in her bright green eyes. She took a few steps back and put a safe distance between the alpha and her as soon as Keiran released her.
"Pathetic, " He murmured before walking to the bathroom, leaving the omega scared and disappointed in herself.
Evelyn went to her safe spot on the small couch that was in the corner of the big room. The girl wiped her tears and closed her eyes to stop the continuous flow of tears. She snuggled in her blanket, covering most of her face so the alpha won't get irritated if he looks at her.
