The Cure
The warriors were amazed to watch their luna effortlessly hit every target. She handled the knives like she had years of practice.
"Guys, we need to hurry up," Evelyn shouted at the warriors who were frozen at their spot.
They quickly snapped out of their trance and apologized before walking off to collect the herbs.
"Fruits aren't that much needed so after we fill up these two baskets let's collect more roots," The omega said to Josh who looked up at her.
"Yes, luna," He smiled.
"I told you that you don't have to call me luna," The omega whined. "Call me Evelyn, Josh,"
The curly-haired boy chuckled. "I'm sorry, it comes to my tongue out of habit." Evelyn rolled her eyes as the warrior spoke. "By the way, I think you impressed them,"
"Impressed who? " The omega quirked a brow.
"Pack warriors," The beta smiled. "They were looking at you like you were a goddess," He chuckled.
Evelyn blushed, her cheeks turning peach red. "Shut up, they were just looking at what I was doing," She brushed off Josh's comment before walking away to pick up the fallen fruits.

"Luna, is this enough?" After an hour, the warriors came back with baskets full of herbs.
"How many baskets are filled? " The omega asked as she scanned everything in their hands.
"Three baskets of green herb,"
"We have four baskets of roots,"
Evelyn nodded as the warriors spoke. "Get them in the jeep, " She heaved a sigh.
"Luna, it'll be okay," Josh said when he saw the nervous look on Evelyn's face.
The omega gave him a small smile. "Let's pray that they have the strength to hold on till we prepare the medicine," She breathed out.

"I want as much as people we can get to help us make the medicine," The girl said to the beta. "They don't need to know anything about the herbs. They'll just have to listen to me. The more people we have the faster the medicine will be prepared,"
"Okay, luna," Josh said before running off.
Evelyn turned to the warriors beside her and hurriedly walked towards them. "Make arrangements to heat up a huge pot of water, "
"What? " One of them muttered in confusion.
"Set a fire to heat up a huge pot of water. It's necessary to make the medicine," She said more sternly. There wasn't any time to play around.
"Luna, we're warriors, not workers," One of the warriors muttered, a little irritation mixing with his voice.
Evelyn was taken aback by the reply. "This is a disease. Do you think you can fight it with your hands? " The omega raised a brow. "Being a warrior doesn't mean you only fight people. Sometimes you have to fight other things too like an infectious disease,"
The guy looked down when he heard her words. It was obvious that it hurts his pride to take orders from an omega. But Evelyn is their luna and it is considered a great offense to defy the luna. Having no other choice, the warrior sighed before muttering an apology.
Evelyn gestured for them to go. She had no time to waste by lecturing him.

"Thank you for volunteering to make the medicine," Evelyn thanked the room full of people including her mother-in-law and Rain.
"We need you guys to split into different groups. The groups will be decided by Josh. I'll tell you all what to do," Everyone in the room listened as the omega spoke.
"The first group needs to cut off the roots of these plants and clean them. Clean them very well because the dirt won't get off the roots in a single wash." Evelyn warned. "The second group needs to get the seeds from inside these fruits. You have to clean them and break them in half after." She showed them the green fruit.
"The third group needs to clean these herbs," She said, lifting up a small green herb. "But before you clean, check the back of the leaves of every herb and make sure they have these little thorns on them. It is necessary. Herbs without thorns mean they're poisonous," She spoke seriously.
"And one poisonous herb will make the whole medicine poisonous so check before you clean them." She said, putting the herb back in the basket. "What the fourth group has to do is grind them into a paste."
"We have no time to waste. We will get into work as soon as Josh divides us into different groups. The water is already heating up and we have to boil these roots and seeds in them for at least three hours to make the medicine." The omega spoke determined and sternly, causing everyone in the room to nod.
"The more time we waste the riskier it is to save the patients," She sighed before turning to the beta beside her. "Josh, you know everyone so divide them according to what they're good at," The omega said to Josh who smiled.
"Of course, luna," The beta said, turning to do his work.
Scarlett walked towards Evelyn with a proud smile. " So brave…." She patted the omega's head. "I told you that you're gonna be an excellent luna," She chuckled. "Look at you now,"
Evelyn quickly hugged the woman. She heaved a sigh of relief as her mother-in-law's warmth embraced her. "I don't know….. where this courage is coming from….." The girl said, hugging her close.
"I just know that I have to help these people,"

"Luna, it's been three hours. I think the medicine is ready," One of the omegas said.
Evelyn hurriedly walked over to the huge pot. "Good, now we have to move this into something else to cool it."
"Evelyn, is the medicine ready? " Amelia walked over to the omega who was busy putting off the fire.
"Oh, Amelia, yes it's ready. We just have to cool it before giving it to the patients," Evelyn stood up as she talked. "How are they? "
"They're in pain," The doctor sighed. "They're holding on but most of them can't handle the pain,"
The omega looked down. "The medicine will be ready in a few minutes. It will cool easily since the atmosphere is cold... " She trailed off.
"You look tired," Amelia said suddenly, surprising the girl.
"So are you," Evelyn smiled. "You have to take care of yourself. Your health is important too,"
"You're stealing my words," The doctor rolled her eyes.
Evelyn chuckled before she remembered something. "Hey, umm….. w-where's Keiran? " She stuttered out, scratching the nape of her neck.
The doctor laughed. "Why are you being so shy to ask about your own mate?" She shook her head at the omega who blushed.
"I-I just wanted to know if he's okay…." Evelyn trailed off.
"He's okay. He's been busy making sure everything is alright but he's an alpha, he has a lot more energy than us." Amelia smiled. "I'll go now, they must be looking for me," She said before waving at the omega.
Evelyn looked down as a small smile formed on her lips.
The omega hoped that maybe after this… things between the alpha and her will change for the good.
