The Unpredictable Alpha

"Come on, the car is waiting, " Scarlett said as she took the bags before walking out of the room.

Evelyn nodded and briskly followed the former luna.

"You'll be gone for three days?" Rain pouted as he walked with Evelyn.

Evelyn couldn't help but ruffle the boy's hair. "We'll be here sooner than you think," She smiled at the omega before looking around for her mate. "Umm… Scarlett, where's Keiran? "

Scarlett looked back while giving the bags to two omega's who offered to help her. An omega also came towards Evelyn, offering to take the bag in her hand to the car but the luna refused politely.

"He's talking with Calvin," Scarlett answered quickly before following the omegas outside.

"Luna, what's in this? " Rain asked, tilting his head as he looked at the bag in Evelyn's hand.

"Gifts for the alpha of Bluemoon Pack," Evelyn answered before they both heard a deep voice from the doorway.

"It's time to go," Keiran stood there with an expressionless face.

He gestured towards the car before turning and striding towards it.

Evelyn smiled at her mother-in-law and Rain while saying goodbye. The omega was anxious and nervous to go to the new pack and along with that spending three days alone with her mate also made her scared thinking about the next few days.

Even though they're married, Evelyn barely spends time with the alpha other than at night. The girl had no idea how she was going to cope with Keiran's anger and mood swings.

"Put on your seatbelt," The alpha said suddenly, snapping Evelyn out of her thoughts.

"Huh? " The girl stared at her mate dumbfounded. It was her first time traveling in a car and she didn't know what to do.

Keiran sighed and unbuckled his seatbelt before leaning towards the omega who gasped as he was so close to her.

Evelyn stared at her mate's deep blue eyes and pink lips as he helped to put on her seatbelt.

Keiran leaned back with a smirk playing on his lips, he put on his seatbelt and started the car. He drove as the omega looked out the window, flushed red in embarrassment because she was caught staring at him.

Evelyn fiddled with her fingers. The silence in the car was getting unbearable and the omega thought she could use this opportunity to have a normal conversation with her mate.

But she needed a topic to start it up.

The girl bit her lips as she tried to think of something and her eyes lit up as an idea popped into her mind. "Umm... W-why did the invitation arrive so late? "

'What a stupid question to ask,' Evelyn closed her eyes and cursed herself inside after she stuttered out the question. 'Maybe that's how they usually send invitations…I'm an idiot,' She awkwardly squirmed in her seat as the alpha turned towards her.

"They were supposed to invite us a few weeks ago but it was postponed because of the disease," Keiran shrugged.

Evelyn frowned in confusion. "Invitations are sent by mail, right? " She asked, tilting her head.

"Yes, but not for us. We're one of the powerful and prestigious Packs so it's different, " Her mate explained with a proud smile.

It was no secret that Keiran will never miss the chance to take pride in his Pack's power. "When other Packs invite us to their celebrations and if they want us to be physically present there instead of sending gifts, they'll have to personally invite us by coming to our Pack. Usually, it is done by the elders or the future alpha of the Pack," The alpha explained.

Evelyn hummed before nodding in understanding. "Is the Bluemoon Pack a prestigious one like ours? " She looked up at the alpha curiously.

Keiran nodded. "They are… They're known for taming wild animals and using them as weapons," He said, causing the girl to frown.

"Wild animals? Why? "

"Well, it's more convenient and advantageous. When there's a war, they can send the animals to fight first. After the animals are all killed, their enemies would be exhausted. This will help them to strike and lead a good fight, " Keiran explained while Evelyn's frown deepened.

"That's—That's cruel, " She said with a disgusted expression. "Animals aren't our weapons… they have a life too,"

Keiran couldn't help but turn to his mate with an amused expression. It was interesting to see his mate being so concerned for wild animals.

"Well, don't worry, most of the animals aren't killed because they are trained to dodge bullets. If one of them gets injured then they'll run and hide from the enemies. The animals are like a trick used by the Bluemoon Pack to exhaust and measure the weapon capacity of their enemies," Keiran shrugged.

"Still… it's not fair… animals belong in the wild, that's their home... They're not weapons, " Evelyn looked down, sadness taking over her features.

"Why are you so pissed about it? You like them that much? " He chuckled, keeping his eyes on the road.

Evelyn felt a small smile tug on her lips as she thought about her days in the forest. "They were the only family I had, " She whispered.

"The predators too? " The alpha raised a brow.

The omega's smile brightened. " I never went and tried to interact with the predators but it was always comforting to see them roaming around wherever I lived," Evelyn breathed out.

Keiran hummed and he leaned back slowly. He looked like he was thinking something while driving. The alpha drove with only his left hand while his right one was on the open window.

Evelyn shamelessly stared at her mate's gorgeous frame. His soft raven hair fell into his eyes as the wind hit it. The omega gulped when she saw Keiran's biceps flex now and then while he controlled the car.

It was so attractive to watch.

Warmth filled Evelyn's heart while she looked at her mate. It was the first time she and Keiran had a normal conversation where the alpha didn't snap at her.

It seems that Keiran wasn't that bad after all…

Just a little bit unpredictable,

hotheaded,

and possessive…

That was all.
