Chapter 14 Getting Rid of Cecilia

Silas's Perspective:

I never thought I'd see Alex in tears, let alone have him run into my arms.

He used to be so wrapped up in his world like he didn't need anyone, not even me.

It was the first time he let me see his vulnerable side.

Holding his small, soft body close, I felt an overwhelming sense of happiness and fulfillment.

Lucas's Perspective:

"Dad, I'm not lying. Cecilia's the one who's lying! They made me take medicine like I was some kind of criminal! When I fell into the water, she and the servants just stood there watching. I almost didn't make it back to you!" I complained.

My specialty was faking tears and acting pitiful. Whenever Mom scolded me, I'd pretend to cry, and she'd soften up and stop being mad.

Silas's Perspective:

"I believe you!" I hugged Alex tightly, afraid that if I let go, this version of him might disappear.

Even if Cecilia were lying dead in a pool of blood with Alex holding a bloody knife, saying he didn't do it, I'd still believe him.

"Silas," Cecilia said urgently, "You can't—"

I cut her off coldly, glaring at her, "Alex is just a four-year-old kid. How could he lie? So, your attitude and actions toward him while I was away need to be examined."

Besides being furious at Cecilia for what she did to Alex behind my back, I felt a deep sense of guilt and self-blame.

If I had spent more time communicating with Alex, he wouldn't have suffered so much, not even from the servants.

From now on, I must spend more time with him and never let him be wronged again.

"But—" Cecilia looked even more aggrieved.

"Shut up!" I didn't want to hear any more of her nonsense. "Since you can't get along with Alex, you should come here less often!"

"And take your two maids with you! I don't need people who don't know who the real master is!" I glared at the two maids.

I didn't want to break the laws; otherwise, I would have personally torn their skulls apart!

They were so scared they started trembling and were about to beg for mercy.

Cecilia bit her lip. Even though she was unwilling, she didn't dare stay any longer after hearing my words. She stood up and left in fear.

The two maids didn't dare stay either and left in a hurry.

"Sweetie, you've been wronged. Are you hungry? What do you want for dinner? I will make it for you," I said gently to Alex.

I didn't care about them; my heart was full of joy seeing Alex getting better.

Lucas's Perspective:

How could Silas be so clueless? Couldn't he see I wasn't really crying?

I learned this trick from my sister Saki. I would just cry loudly without actual tears, and he wouldn't tell the difference.

I almost felt guilty for fooling such a simpleton.

"How about spaghetti?" I lowered my head, pretending to be pitiful.

I had to admit, Silas's cooking was pretty good, definitely better than Mom's.

Mom almost blew up the kitchen the first time she cooked.

"Alright." Silas kissed my forehead gently and then looked at Harris, saying, "Harris, Alex is recovering so well. We need to seize this opportunity to help him fully recover. Find the best doctors and give me a list. I'll go through them one by one."

Doctors?

My money-making idea kicked in immediately.

Mom was the best doctor. Alex's family was rich, and his dad cooked so well. Working for them would be a great opportunity, and the pay would be substantial.

Plus, if Mom became Alex's primary doctor, I'd have more chances to see Alex and make sure Cecilia wouldn't come back to bully him.

Thinking of this, my eyes lit up, and I excitedly said to Silas, "Dad, I know a doctor. She's beautiful and very gentle."

"I met her when I snuck out. She talked to me a lot, and that's why I started talking again! Dad, why don't we hire her? I believe she can cure me!"

"Really? What's her name? I'll have Harris check her out. If she's as good as you say, I'd be happy to hire her as your doctor." Silas gently patted my head.

"Her name is Stella," I said, using Mom's alias.

I knew Mom's real name was Seraphina Vale, but for special reasons, she went by Stella publicly.

I also knew that revealing Mom's real name could separate us, so no one but Saki and I knew her true name.

"Stella, that's a beautiful name with a lovely meaning." Silas nodded and signaled Harris to look into it.

"Alright." Silas picked me up and headed upstairs. "After everything that's happened, you must be tired. Rest in your room, and I'll make you some noodles, OK?"

"OK." I nodded obediently.

Silas carried me to my room and then went downstairs to cook.

I eagerly pulled out my phone watch from my pocket and called Mom.

It was about time to tell her everything that had happened and ask her to  get me.

As for Alex, we'd meet again soon enough. There would be plenty of opportunities to learn more.

The phone rang twice before it was answered.

"Hello?" Saki's uncertain voice came from the other end.
