Chapter 58 Dad's Crisis

Alex's Perspective:

I was chillin' on my bed, trying to wrap this gift all nice and neat, finishing it off with a killer bow.

The ball was gonna be my first real meet-up with Stella, and I had to nail it so she'd like me and wanna be my mom.

So, for the past few days, I'd been busting my butt picking out this super special scarf as a gift.

Stella had this awesome vibe; she'd totally rock this scarf.

Just thinking about it made me super pumped to meet her!

Outta nowhere, my phone buzzed. It was Lucas.

"Yo, Lucas," I answered, grinning.

"Hey Alex, whatcha up to?" Lucas's voice crackled through.

"Just getting a gift ready for Stella. Gotta make sure she digs me right off the bat and wants to be my mom," I said, clutching the gift, barely keeping my excitement in check.

"Oh, and have you and Saki sorted your outfits? I picked a few, but dunno if you'll like 'em. How about you—" Lucas cut me off.

"Someone already got outfits for me, my sis, and mom," Lucas sounded kinda unsure.

"Who hooked you up?" I asked, confused.

Lucas and his fam just moved here. Who else could they know besides me?

"Mom's friend," Lucas replied.

"A friend?" I frowned. My werewolf senses were tingling; this "friend" was definitely not just a buddy.

"What kinda friend? A dude?"

"Yeah," Lucas confirmed my hunch.

"Lucas!" I freaked out. "You betraying me or what?"

How could there be another player in just a few days? If Lucas got a new dad, we couldn't be a family!

Plus, Cecilia might even marry my dad.

The thought of her being my mom freaked me out.

No way! Not happening!

"I'm not betraying you," Lucas sighed. "We're bros who've been through thick and thin. I'm totally on your side!

"Your dad was like my dad for a bit, and he cooks like a boss. So, of course, I want your dad with my mom, and we can be a family.

"But it's not just up to us. Your dad's gotta step up too. That guy's got some good stuff going on, and he's making moves. If mom falls for him, what can I do?"

"What do we do then?" I was so stressed I was about to lose it.

"Chill, it's just the start," Lucas tried to calm me down. "I know my mom; she won't fall for him that easily. We still got a shot.

"Listen, we can't slack off anymore. We gotta roll out our plan ASAP to dodge any mess."

"Got it!" I shot back, all fired up.

After hanging up, I was still jittery and quickly dialed my dad.

"Hey Alex, what's up? Miss your old man?" Dad picked up fast, sounding super gentle.

"Dad, you busy?" I tried to keep my cool, not wanting him to catch on to my nerves.

"Not at all, what's going on?" He replied.

"About the ball in a few days, can you take me with you? I wanna make some friends," I asked, trying to sound casual but hopeful.

"Of course!" Dad was stoked that I wanted to go out. "I'll have someone send over a few outfits. Pick whichever you like!"

"Thanks, Dad." I let out a sigh of relief when he agreed.

No matter how tough the competition, I had to help Dad marry Stella and make her his Luna!

Silas's Perspective:

After hanging up, I grabbed Alex's photo from the table, feeling over the moon.

From when he was a kid till now, this was the first time Alex actually wanted to go to a big party. Before, I never pushed him, worried it might freak him out and make things worse.

Now that he was up for it, it was awesome!

In my excitement, I thought of Stella. This could be the perfect chance for her and Alex to meet officially.

Even though they'd met a bunch of times before, it was always as doctor and patient. Time for them to meet as mom and son.

But I'd already promised Cecilia to be my dance partner.

Whatever. She was just a dance partner. No biggie. Once we were in, I couldn introduce Stella to Alex.

Thinking this, I looked at Harris. "Get two killer outfits for Alex.

"And for Stella, based on her measurements, get a special dress and some bling. Make sure she gets them before the ball. She's got two kids, probably around Alex's size, so grab some outfits for them too."

"Got it," Harris nodded, then hesitated and said awkwardly, "But Silas, I don't know Stella's measurements."

Hearing that, I remembered our last close moment and rattled off some numbers.

For the first time, I saw a curious look on Harris's usually poker face.

"Your face is totally creepy," I coughed, giving him a disgusted look. "What are you standing around for? Get moving."

"Yes, sir," Harris quickly left the office, shutting the door behind him.
