Chapter 38 She Was On Par With Any Warrior

At the Police Station

Seraphina's POV:

"Mr. Everhart, we just tracked the car that nabbed Alex and Lucas. We checked a bunch of surveillance cams along the way and we're pretty sure they're heading outta town," Harris said, pointing at the footage on the computer.

"But the surveillance outside the city is kinda sketchy. We can only tell they're going northwest. There are two roads that way, but neither has cameras, so we can't tell which way the kidnappers went," Harris added.

My heart skipped a beat.

Those two roads could lead to a ton of sketchy places, and checking each one would take forever, putting Lucas in more danger.

Silas stared at the car on the screen, his face dark and stormy.

Just standing next to him, I could feel the intense pressure he was giving off.

The police station was dead silent, and all the werewolves looked scared stiff, worried they'd be the ones to catch his wrath.

The Police Commissioner, Simon Rodriguez, was sweating bullets, standing in front of Silas with a panicked look, stammering, "Mr. Everhart, this is on us. It's our fault your kid and this lady's kid are in danger. I'll get all our forces on finding them right now."

"Idiot!" Silas snapped, his eyes flashing with murderous intent, making Simon's legs shake like jelly.

"Making a big scene will just tip them off! What good will it do us to piss off the kidnappers?" Silas shouted.

"Yes, Mr. Everhart, you're right. We didn't think it through," Simon's voice wobbled, cold sweat dripping down his face, soaking his uniform.

"Do it quietly, no fuss," Silas ordered coldly. "If those kids get hurt, I'll hold you all responsible!"

"Yes!" Simon nodded like a bobblehead, wiping his sweat as he bolted out.

I stood aside, watching Silas. Even though he was radiating a terrifying aura, it was clear his heart was full of worry and fear for his son.

Even the mighty Alpha King was just a regular dad when it came to his kid.

Even though I used to hate his bullying ways, I couldn't help but feel grateful to him now!

"Mr. Everhart, searching each place in turn will take forever. Can you assign some people to me? We can split into two groups and save a lot of time!" I suggested.

Silas looked surprised by my idea, a flash of astonishment in his eyes, followed by an unreadable expression as he looked at me.

His deep eyes made me look away, feeling all kinds of restless inside.

Silas's POV:

Stella's proactive suggestion caught me off guard. She's one brave mom; her decisive actions and courage are on par with any warrior of the werewolf clan!

"Alright!" I nodded, assigning some of my strongest people to her.

Watching her charge ahead, I couldn't help but shout, "Stella!"

She turned to look at me.

I hesitated for a sec but still said what I felt, "Be safe, and hit me up if you find anything!"

Stella paused, her eyes a bit dazed. "You too!"

With that, she didn't waste any more time, leading a group of werewolves way taller and stronger than her out of the police station.

Watching her figure fade away, I felt a slight tug at my heart.

Alex was so scrawny and covered in blood back then. How could his real mom ditch him like that? If she had even half the responsibility Stella has, Alex wouldn't have ended up like this!

Thinking of that heartless woman made my blood boil.

If I ever get my hands on her, I'll make her kneel and beg for forgiveness in front of Alex!

"Silas!" Cecilia rushed in, looking all panicked.

Seeing her, my already bad mood got worse, and I couldn't hide my irritation.

"Silas!" Cecilia didn't notice my expression, grabbing my arm and urgently asking, "I heard Alex was taken. What's going on? Have you found out who took him and where he is now?"

"That's none of your business!" I snapped, pulling my hand away. "I already know where Alex is."

"Really?" Cecilia's eyes lit up. "Then I'll go with you to save him!"

"What for?" I asked, annoyed.

"No matter what, I've watched Alex grow up. He means a lot to me. Now that he's in danger, I can't just sit around!" She started crying.

I hated her crying over every little thing, unlike Stella who was all rational and brave.

"Even if you hate me, and Alex dislikes me, I still want to go. Please, take me with you. I promise, once Alex is safe, I won't bother you anymore! Okay?" Cecilia said, almost begging.

I thought about it. Taking her wouldn't be a big deal, and it might make her back off, so I nodded.

Then, I led my group in another direction. Not far out of the city, the road turned from concrete to muddy dirt. Because of this, Harris compared the tire tracks and found they matched the ones from the car that took Alex.

This discovery thrilled me. I told Stella to come over from her side and continued following the tire tracks.

After about forty minutes, we found an abandoned factory hidden deep in the woods. I planned to scope out the situation first to avoid spooking them and putting the kids in more danger.

But out of nowhere, Cecilia screamed, "Snake!"

I was shocked and was about to chew her out when the guards at the door saw us and tried to bolt. No way I was letting them get away!

I jumped out of the car, caught up with one of them, knocked him out cold, and then took down another thug trying to run. I stepped on his neck, ignoring his painful struggles, pulled out my gun, pointed it at his head, and coldly demanded, "Tell me! Where are the kids?"
