Chapter 28 Stella's Internship Woes

Seraphina's POV:

We agreed on a fake engagement, so why's he making such a big deal out of it? When we eventually split, it's gonna be a mess.

And that cocky Alpha, was he really doing this out of the goodness of his heart?

Announcing me as his fiancée definitely wasn't to help me. We're just using each other. That guy's gotta have some hidden agenda, probably planning to screw things up for me.

"My esteemed Luna, I'm the deputy director here. You can call me Barry. How should I address you?" Barry approached me with a fawning smile.

Seeing Barry being so polite made me feel a bit embarrassed. Then I said, "Barry, you don't have to be so formal. Just treat me like any other new intern. Call me Stella."

I'm not really Silas's fiancée, and besides, I want to be a regular doctor helping people. All this fanfare is really not my style.

As I was thinking, I noticed Barry's expression change from cautious flattery to surprise and hostility.

"What did you say your name was?" Barry's voice was sharp and piercing, making my eardrums tingle.

"Stella." I needed clarification. What was going on? Why was he acting like I'd committed a crime?

"Why is it you?" Barry straightened up, looking down his nose at me with disdain.

I couldn't help but laugh at his reaction. What was this about? It was so strange. Looks like I'll have to invite him to my office for a chat sometime.

"I knew the Alpha King's Luna couldn't be someone as petty as you. How dare you pretend to be our esteemed Luna?" Barry questioned me angrily.

Just a moment ago, he was all respectful, calling me Luna. Now that he thought I wasn't, he was showing his true attitude. What a hypocrite.

I wondered what Silas told them.

However, I didn't mind it. I was not being recognized, which suited me just fine. I could just be an ordinary doctor here.

"Since you've joined our hospital, don't think you can slack off. Go clean the surgical gowns from the emergency room." Barry didn't even want to look at me after thinking I wasn't Luna, but that was fine. I was here to work, not to be pampered.

But the problem was I was a psychiatrist. Why should I be cleaning surgical gowns from the emergency room?

For some reason, Barry seemed to be deeply hostile, even though this was our first meeting.

Was he mad because he made a big fuss and embarrassed himself by mistaking me for someone else? If so, he was being really petty.

"Are you unwilling to do it? If you don't want to work, then leave. There are plenty of people who would take your place!" Barry saw my displeasure and continued to act superior.

I was furious, but I remembered how hard it was to get this job. I couldn't let a moment of anger ruin this opportunity.

"I understand." I nodded and prepared to leave.

"By the way, the inpatient department is short-staffed. After you finish washing the clothes, go help out there." Seeing me so compliant, Barry made even more unreasonable demands.

"Okay, I got it." I swallowed my anger and walked into the hospital.

Barry's POV:

Getting a call from Cecilia today really startled me. Ever since that incident years ago, she rarely contacted me.

Even though we hadn't been in touch, she had helped me a lot over the years, both openly and behind the scenes. I owe my current position to her.

I thought she would become the Alpha King's Luna, and I could benefit from that. I had never expected a mysterious person to take her place.

I knew Cecilia wouldn't just let it go. So when she called and asked me to give Stella a hard time, I readily agreed. After all, who would end up being the Alpha King's Luna in the future still remained to be seen.

There were rumors that the Alpha King's Luna would start working here today. I was excitedly preparing a welcome ceremony, only to have Stella, that little nobody, show up and embarrass me before I could even start tormenting her.

Damn woman! I would make her life miserable and drive her out of this hospital.

"Barry, if she's not the Alpha King's Luna, then who is? Why hasn't she shown up yet?" a doctor beside me whispered. "Could the information be wrong?"

"It shouldn't be." I was puzzled too. "The news came from Harris, so it should be reliable. After all, the only information out there is that Silas is engaged, but no one knows what his fiancée looks like or her name."

"So anyone new joining our hospital could be Silas's fiancée. We have to be careful. If we upset Silas's fiancée, we'll all be in trouble."

"Right." Everyone nodded.

But it was really strange. What did the mysterious werewolf who beat Cecilia and became Silas's fiancée look like?

As I was pondering, a luxury car slowly pulled up to the hospital entrance. The werewolves behind me and I held our breath, nervously and eagerly watching the person getting out of the car.

It was a woman with exquisite makeup, dressed in luxurious clothes, exuding an aura of nobility.
