Chapter 32 Kidnapping
Alex's POV:
So, I rolled up to the spot we had agreed on, and there was Lucas, already hanging out. Just as I was about to jog over, I spotted these two sketchy thugs creeping up on him.
Lucas was totally oblivious, and one of these guys was already winding up with a wooden stick, ready to clock him.
In that split second, it was like some invisible force took over, and all I could think about was keeping him safe.
I yelled, "Watch out!"
But, man, it was too late. The stick was about to connect with Lucas, and my body just moved on its own. I dove in and took the hit for him.
The stick smacked the back of my neck, and the pain was unreal. I almost blacked out, but the thought of protecting Lucas kept me on my feet. I shoved him behind me.
I was scared out of my mind facing these two thugs, but I forced myself to stay cool and asked, "What do you want with my younger brother?"
Younger brother?
Why not call him my older brother? No clue.
Something inside me just made me call him my younger brother, like some deep connection was telling me we were meant to be brothers, and I had to protect him!
But these jerks in front of me called me a bastard, saying no one would care if I died. It reminded me of the Omega servants at my dad's place.
They acted all respectful to my face, but behind my back, they always called me a bastard without a mom.
Rage took over, and I forgot my fear. I lunged at them, but I was too weak and got tossed aside like a ragdoll.
I hit the ground hard, feeling like my bones were about to shatter, and the pain made me shake all over.
Through my tear-blurred vision, I saw the two thugs closing in on Lucas, swinging their sticks.
Lucas was so freaked out he kept backing away. I couldn't even think about what they might do to him, whether they would kill him or not.
I had to protect him!
In that moment, it felt like every cell in my body was screaming, and I could feel my blood boiling like lava!
The pain started to fade, replaced by this insane strength.
I let out a roar I had never made before, and my fangs suddenly grew out.
The thugs were totally freaked seeing me wolf out. Taking advantage of their shock, I leaped at one of them and sank my fangs into his skin.
The guy's scream was pure agony, and the taste of his blood fired up my nerves.
The other thug tried to jump in, but I slashed his face with my claws.
Blood was pouring from their wounds, and the air reeked of it.
They were scared shitless, backing off while clutching their injuries.
No way I was letting them get away. With a roar, I lunged at them again.
But then, out of nowhere, I felt totally drained, like all my energy just vanished.
The thug with the stick saw his chance and swung at me with everything he had.
I went flying, completely wiped out, couldn't even lift a finger.
The last thing I saw was Lucas's worried face before everything went dark.
Lucas's POV:
I could hardly believe the brave dude protecting me and fighting off those thugs was the same Alex who used to be so timid and would cry at the mention of Cecilia.
I never thought, besides Seraphina and Saki, there'd be someone else willing to risk their life for me.
I couldn't even describe what I was feeling—gratitude, worry, fear—all mixed up, leaving my mind blank.
Seeing Alex suddenly wolf out and then pass out, I forced myself to stay calm.
Alex had awakened his wolf in an emergency and now fainted from exhaustion. I had no idea what kind of damage that might do to him.
Plus, with just the two of us kids, there was no way we could handle these two thugs. And I couldn't just run away after Alex had protected me.
The only option was to play dead and see where they'd take us and what they were planning.
No matter what, I had to get back to Seraphina and make sure Alex got back to his dad safely!
With that in mind, I pretended to be scared, screamed, then rolled my eyes and faked fainting.
"Shit!" The two thugs, clutching their bleeding wounds, gritted their teeth in anger, their faces twisted.
"It was so close. I've never seen someone so young awaken the wolf!" One of the thugs said, kicking Alex in frustration.
The other thug responded, "Yeah, if he hadn't fainted from exhaustion, we might've been screwed this time. But it's weird."
He continued, worried, "The employer didn't say the woman's son was a twin, did she? Could we have made a mistake?"
"Doesn't matter. Let's take both of them back first. If they're not the ones, we'll just kill them to shut them up!" The thug said, hoisting Alex onto his shoulder.
Seeing this, the other thug didn't say anything and carried me, who was pretending to be unconscious, away as well.
Out of their sight, I secretly opened my eyes and memorized the route.
