Chapter 60 An Awkward Situation
Silas's Perspective:
The bell dinged, and the door creaked open.
Stella strutted in, clinging to some dude's arm.
Her long hair flowed over her shoulders, and she rocked a floor-length white gown. Moonlight hit her just right, making her dress sparkle like silver, with a shawl that looked like a fluffy cloud.
Stella looked like a mermaid fresh outta the ocean or some kinda moon goddess.
"Whose wife or daughter is that? She's got some serious presence," someone in the crowd muttered.
"Yeah, even with a mask, you could tell she was a total knockout," another one added.
The crowd buzzed, all eyes and whispers on her.
"She totally showed up late just to steal the spotlight, didn't she?" Cecilia fumed, pissed that all the attention had shifted.
I couldn't care less about her jealousy and kept my eyes glued to Stella and her mystery man.
Even with the mask, I knew it was Stella right away. And those kids? Definitely hers.
But who the hell was that guy? Who did he think he was?
As if he felt my glare, the dude turned and locked eyes with me.
Seeing my icy stare, he smirked.
Oh, it was on.
I knew he was trying to get under my skin. I swallowed my anger, narrowed my eyes, and stared right back.
Damn it, Stella, had you forgotten who you were?
You were my fiancée, and now you were here, hanging off another guy's arm.
And another thing!
You were so secretive about your kids before, but now you were parading them around with this guy?
I was fuming.
Stella! You were really pushing it!
Seraphina's Perspective:
As soon as I stepped into the banquet hall, before I could even take a look around, a servant came up to me and said, "Hello, madam. There's a special room for the kids. You can leave them with me, and I'll take them to play with the other kids."
I hesitated, worried that Saki and Lucas might bump into Cecilia alone.
"Are all the kids there?" Lucas asked, super excited, like he couldn't wait to meet someone.
"Yep," the servant replied.
"Mom, Saki and I will go over there. You have fun here," Lucas said, practically bouncing.
But I was still on edge, my worries holding me back.
"Don't stress. I'll make sure someone looks after them. They'll be fine," Wesley noticed my concern and gently reassured me.
"Alright." Seeing this, I could only nod and remind them, "You absolutely can't run around. Stay in the small banquet hall, got it?"
"Mm-hmm!" Lucas nodded eagerly.
I had no clue what he was so hyped about. I gave him a helpless look and let him take Saki's hand and follow the servant.
I didn't take my eyes off them until they were out of sight.
"Don't worry. Your kids will be fine," Wesley said with a slight smile. "Kids need to be more independent. You're worrying too much."
"You wouldn't get it." I was a bit annoyed that he was so casual about Saki and Lucas's safety. "They were my most precious treasures in this world."
"They were what kept me going, so even the slightest harm to them was unbearable for me."
"Sounds like you had a rough past." Wesley's gaze softened. "But at least you had two smart and adorable kids."
His words lifted my mood a bit, but a thin layer of sadness still lingered.
There should have been three kids.
"You can come to me for anything in the future!" Wesley extended his hand to me. "I'll help and protect you, no questions asked."
I didn't take his words to heart. Honestly, I hoped we wouldn't have any more contact after this banquet.
So I didn't say anything, took his hand, and followed him onto the dance floor.
"Well then, beautiful lady, may I have the honor of inviting you to dance?" Wesley lightly kissed the back of my hand.
"Of course." I smiled slightly.
He immediately wrapped his arm around my waist, pulling me into his broad, firm chest. Bending down, he whispered in a husky, intimate voice, "Look at those guys' eyes, they can't take them off you. Makes me wanna gouge their eyes out."
As he spoke, his hand around my waist tightened a bit, and he said with a hint of jealousy, "Stella, tonight you're my exclusive partner. No mingling with other men."
The warm breath on my sensitive ear made my body heat up slightly. Thinking of the expensive compensation and dress, I repeatedly assured him that I'd fulfill my duties as his partner, which finally made him smile with satisfaction.
As the music started, a space cleared in the middle of the ballroom. Guided by Wesley, I twirled around the floor, my spirits lifting with the lively rhythm.
Suddenly, a red dress caught my eye. A couple was dancing beside us. Glancing over, I was surprised to see the woman was Cecilia. She was still as flamboyant as ever, trying hard to show off her dance moves to impress her partner.
There could only be one person she would try so hard to please.
My heart skipped a beat, and I locked eyes with Silas's deep, dangerous gaze.
